I think we really need him put on a level of some of the greats. We speak of Page, Clapton, Beck, Hendrix, as the Gods of Guitar. I know there are more, just to name a few. But, my point is, I would rather pay $200 to see Uli, than Clapton. Unfortunately, Uli just never got the recognition he deserves. I know there are many folks like me who believe Uli deserves the recognition the aforementioned axe men have received. And, I bet he doesn't really give a shit. Guess I'm just ramblin' on (pun intended) here.
Your absolutely right.I found out about Uli about 5 years ago.I was checking out a UFO video with Michael Shenker called Rock Bottom.Uli did a duet with Michael and I thought Uli was awesome.He is underated.So is Joe Satriani.But Uli is not boring to see like Satriani.Uli is the most interesting and fascinating guitarist I have ever seen.

When he feels the crowd into him he will interact with a story, or just an Uli smile. Anyway, he was starting Sails of Charon, and I yelled out a "Hell ya," or some other concert jargon. He turned a bit and looked me right in the the eyes, and gave me an Uli smile. It was pretty damn cool. You won't see him stomp around, or throw his head back and forth. But, when he closes his eyes, he unleashes the beast. Just magic.

Wow!!! I've always been a huge fan of Uli... but having majored in classical and dabbled in flamenco plenty... I have NO idea of how good his resqueado and tremolo techniques are. I shouldn't be surprised, as THE MAN can do it ALL!!!

I was born in 66'...when my older brother came home with In Trance and Virgin Killer, my mind was blown away. Definitely one of my biggest influences....Just love Uli.
I think a lot of people don't realise is that Uli actually IS a classical trained guitarist, and was actually a teacher at some point (probably before he joined the Scorpions). I've always loved his classical playing on the beginning of the Fly To Rainbow track). Having learned to play classical style myself you can always spot someone classically trained, by the fingerpicking position of the right hand. No playing a million notes a second with a pick like Malmsteen does!!! He may not be known to the general public, but he's influenced countless great musicians that have followed him. I think that it's better to be influential than just purely famous. It's about the music with him, not the ego.
