350 horsepower in 1965 sounds unbelievable. Very beautiful.
Yes I think a ferarri of the period was making around 260-279 hp
It's amazing how your taste change when you get older. When I was in my 20's, I thought the Countach was the ultimate car. I was blessed enough to have driven them on a couple of occasions. To this day, I still love them. I remember seeing the 350 GT and thinking it was cool, but it didn't have nearly the appeal that the Countach had for me. Now I'm 51 and I'm realizing that I'm more attracted to the 350 GT. The beautiful simple lines, gorgeous interior, Borroni wire wheels & functionality. It all makes much more sence to me now....
Happy New Year,
Mark
Some things are like 'love at first sight', but some you 'grow to love'.
Same here.
Same as my friend . Starting to appreciate the bueaty of these cars. Sorry for spellling could not be bothered to go back and correct. Unforgivable for my old english teacher in the 70s .
Probably helped by the fact that the countach is bad for the 51 year old back and the 3500 gt looks like it would feel like a supple pair of leather gloves.
@@pouyan225 Acquired tastes are frequently more appreciated and enduring.
One thing that sticks out to me about Jay - he finds a way to put a positive spin on any car's shortcomings or quirks. Engine Block had a tendency to fall out? "I like a lighter car personally". Car catches fire warm days? "Well I always liked a bonfire once in awhile."
In a world where folks seem to be on the hunt for something to complain about, I love this approach!
One of the many reasons I love watching leno's garage is his humor that Italian impression is great .( the clutcha no good)
Jay is such a genuine and knowledgable car enthusiast. Ive only seen him, on the freeway and and he was a very polite driver, but every video ive seen he just comes off as a genuinly nice and friendly person, which is rare for somebody with his wealth. I can listen to him talk about cars and how much he loves them all day. He turns into an excited little kid over some old car i never even knew existed.
he commands respect with his pressence without ever expecting it(so rare)
yeah I would agree
I've meet him a few times, he's a great guy. Nice and very happy person and very knowledgeable.
It's all in the editing. HAHAHA. jk.
One of the many reasons I watch these videos. No pretentiousness, no phoniness, no hidden agenda.
that salmon/ terracotta color leather interior is gorgeous
This is legit, one of the coolest shows on YT. It never gets old. Just so pleasant.
I love the lines, curves, shapes, the polish and the especially sound. It's a work of art.
What an absolutely GORGEOUS car.. A true work of rolling art... Inside and out... Just beautiful.... The sound that V12 makes is pure automotive music to any car guys ears... I love the color combo, inside and out... Every inch of that car is a thoroughbred..
In the late 1970's my brother bought a used Lamborghini 350 gt for about $4,600. I remember well the 12 cylinder engine, toggle switches, colored indicator lights, single windshield wiper & rear bench. Also had a double H 8 speed manual transmission, which Jay didn't mention, but even as teenager I was impressed. His car was gray when bought, but he had it painted white. No one had any idea what a Lamborghini was at the time, but he did have to have a lot of service done on the engine, to keep it running smoothly. Gas mileage was awful ( around 8mpg) and when alternate day gas rationing came to play under the Carter administration he finally traded it for a used Mercedes (which was selling for $6,700, so he thought it was a great deal). Obviously, you could retire on what this car costs now, but does bring back fond memories of the past to watch this.
I would be fascinated to know more about the 8-speed manual transmission. That must have some shift pattern and the linkage must have been absolutely mind boggling. May I politely suggest you are misrembering? Jay did not mention it because it does not exist.
There was never an eight speed transmission in the Lamborghini 350GT. All of them had a five speed transmission.
I had never seen this model so well photographed and filmed, one can really appreciate the fine proportions and classic beauty it has. My favorite Lamborghini is still the Espada, but this is also great!
To go from tractors to that is unbelievable, gorgeous car!.. First time I've seen one
Mr. Leno during the eternity of Heaven I want to shake your hand and say thank you…until then review as many cars as you can and I will watch, watch, watch!
Wow, just a work of art. I love the paint, the wheels, the superb interior. Jay is one lucky guy to get a run out in it.
Love everything about that Lambo. Timeless classic.
Absolutely gorgeous. Design seemed way ahead of its time.
Treu!
Wow, this is one of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen.
I think the design is really modern. Everything behind the front wheels just screams "modern car" until you get to the headlights and grill (can you say XJ?). I love the cockpit look of the interior.
(edit) Why didn't I see '62 vette the first time I saw it?
What a gorgeous interior, and exterior. Those wheels!! And prop's to the owner who let Jay drive it IN THE RAIN!!
Thanks, Jay for letting the rest of us ride along with you and enjoy the driving experience of a lifetime!
This car should get a lot more attention,
It's a beautiful design.
Always good to hear Jay describe the era of the car, what was the norm and how each car fit in to it's consumer base.
Gotta love that windshield , art in every definition
Had a 400gt in the shop i was working at and thought it was one of the most beautiful cars ive seen.
Jay was also once a new comedian, and is currently a classic.
One of the best dashboards of all time!
That interior door grab handle is beautiful
Freaking gorgeous!!! Great body and lines. So sleek and the engine is beautiful. Interior is pure luxury. Million bucks
Looks like a Jaguar XJ-12...
"People were more responsible for their actions back in the days" Well described!
Jay, you are a class act. The hardest working peson in show biz. I know you made this video at 5 AM
Jay Leno NEEDS to be on Top Gear USA! This should be the top comment on everyone of Jay's videos. Maybe History will see it!
Driving a priceless, mid-60's Lambo in the rain with the window down. Amazing. The rain actually added to the ambiance of the video.
And the single wiper is so cool.
That gray color is near-perfect for that car, really really gorgeous and subtle.
Touring Superlegera...of course. What amazing looking car at 1965. Superb!
Jay just loved all over this car. He was so full of praise in his comments that the guest finally just gave up trying to add anything.
Gorgeous car.
"no, we didn't scratch it and we didn't do a burnout" ha ha ha! very best Jay Leno comedy!
On camera anyway.
I really like these shows, although I no longer watch television, I was more of a David letterman fan late night, but after seeing these, minus corny writers and getting to know Jay for how he really is has made me a big fan. Dave is probably driving a prius
Ahh, on what a journey of life mister Leno has been!
OMG. The lines of that car are so elegant ! Perfect !
The 1963 350 GTV was even more beautiful
Really enjoyed finding and seeing this episode. I owned 1964 Lamborghini 350GT (chassis 0102 and engine 0111) way back in 1975. My understanding at the time I bought it was that it had become the oldest production Lamborghini in the world; the first chassis (0101) had been totaled in Arizona according to the dealer. A wonderful engine and a wonderful chassis, unusual styling. When I had it, the car was silver with red leather interior. I still remember the lovely sound it made as I flew on the open road in upstate New York with the revs up and the speedo showing 230 klicks. This was my car, photos taken then; the bottom photo of me driving was made by my friend Steve as we flew up the highway. I was 21 at the time ... I couldn't afford to keep the Lamborghini for very long, but I can still say that I owned and enjoyed it. :-)
Oops ... here's a link to the photo I mentioned above: flic.kr/p/ULXHTA
A great car then and now. Beautiful, fast, elegant. I'd rather have one of these than a new Lambo.
I love this car, it's actually my favorite classic Lamborghini Jay. Love the color and interior and the engine, love it!
The Lamborghini GT350 is beautiful!
17:21 ''believe me if you roll this car this thing would crush like a beercan. You would have a broken neck and you'd be dead''
Suddenly Andrew doesnt smile anymore 😂
Gorgeous. Better than the blocks driving around these days.
Beautiful touring automobile with a character all its own. Thanks for the history lesson, professor Leno.
Beauty- efficiency, one wiper, Jay just does comedy to afford his Love for cars.... and we are all grateful! Keep educating your poor folllowers
Thank you Andrew for bringing a perfect example of a gorgeous classic
Such a beautiful design. The rear wheel well is a work of art unto itself.
The early 350s has the original single lamp design. It’s the way the car was meant to be and one look at the single lamp and it all makes sense. Love the 350 and the bubble cockpit with signature heavily raked windscreen.
This and Jay’s Maserati 3500 gti are my favorites! I’m in love with this era of sports cars.
Amazing & So beautiful Car Lamborghini 350GTCar Old is gold
Cars My Favrat Car 👍👍 Thanks Nice Video 👍🙂😀
Jay starts talking about safety and guy started getting uneasy looking around like don't flip this please.
"Fine Jay", ''passenger'' , you are! Safety first!
It was hard to tell if they had seatbelts on, prior to '67 they weren't required, as I recall.
Mr. Leno looks happier doing this than TV
He's in his element.
Jay Leno has a top notch car automobilia show.......... right in his garage !
When I want to take my mind off any thing, Jay Leno's Garage is here to distract me from the world. 👍
Jay Leno Lives the BEST LIFE a Motorhead/Gearhead could possibly live ... and Mrs Leno LETS him!
Wow it's so amazing how I've seen so many different cars just watching Jays show! Thank you Jay for sharing your passion of automobiles with us!
I always loved this car and only have seen them in the magazine's it was really great to see it featured on this program.
Beautiful car. I’m a car buff yet I had never seen one of these before. I love that this car isn’t parked in garage somewhere but is driven and enjoyed.
I love how that Italian Ash Tray holds exactly One Ash.
A beautiful car all around. Everywhere I look there is a nice detail. For example, I am really attracted to the shape/lines/style of the interior door grab handle. The Borani wire wheels look so stunning when spinning. The poor soul who will be cleaning the spokes after that drive in the rain.
it's job security, wiping down and cleaning and polishing every inch of those 'display'cars is a never ending requirement.
Love the interior of the Lamborghini...❤
I love the guy's reaction when Jay starts talking about car safety... he looks suddenly worried, lol
HE'S A PUTZ. ONE OF THE MOST DRAB GUESTS JAY HAS ON THE SHOW.
what a beautifull design... amazing lines and smothness for an old car.
This is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful, classic, underrated GT cars ever made ! ! Just stunningly sexy and svelte!
HEY LAMBO............DO THIS AGAIN ! ! ! ! !
I wouldn't say underrated. Every classic car enthusiast knows this car was built as a vengeance to Enzo Ferrari, and that the Lambo was a better car in most aspects. Especially the engine. Most important part of any car back in those days, especially these GT/sportscar ones.
The Espada is an underrated GT. Probably because of it's looks. I like it very much, it's weird and exciting. But i can perfectly understand that some people think it's ugly
One of the most beautiful cars built, unique styling and simply lush!
That paint colour is stunning.
Thanks to everyone involved in putting this show together!
I've learned more from this channel than any other. I love it. Beautiful car
Im a die hard ferrari fan yet i still do not see the point in picking a side in the rivalry. The cars were both made by the people of the region of modena they're the same people building the same cars, they had the same engineers, the same company made the pistons for both companies and others in italy, they even had the same rims and ferrari used touring for their early cars using the supperlagerra construction as alfa had. I love Lamborghini almost as much as i love ferrari. The reason i say almost is because ive got Ferrari in my blood and in my heart and soul where as i only have Lamborghini in my heart. Viva la automobili e italiana
Really amazing lines on 350 make me smile every time i see one......Art on wheels
Beautiful Car. A real work of art. Thank you for sharing Jay!
The Inside Was Beautiful 😍
Love. That. Car. It purrs like a Lion.
Gorgeous !!!😍😍
Yes . . . What a beautiful auto !
I would rather drive this car over ANY modern car regardless of price.
Same as buddy . Love these old cars , even if they are a bit of work
Im a truck driver who will be retired in a few years , so i want to get into my passion for classic cars. Hopefully.
Well said!!
Absolutely. This car and the 67 Ferrari 330 gt
Thank Jay for another expert understanding of what another class of cars represent in terms of history, drivability, excitment and ownership. Some of us are limited in our experience of car ownership. (My case; mid year/c2 corvettes, stock GM muscle cars and 911's, but looking to branch out to some euro classics so your perspective is very valuable.
God it's absolutely gorgeous!
jay leon garage is best show for cars
To me, a "beautiful" car has to have the right proportions. This car has all the right proportions and it is stunning! I bet Andrew spent hours waxing it before bringing to Jay's garage . . . and then it rains! Argghhh ~
heartbreakingly beautiful...
cant stop looking at that beautiful Miura in the background
Yeah, I was drooling also certainly the most iconic of all the Lamborghini for us older guys.
I Love Jay Leno's Garage. I wish there were more episodes.
Absolutely perfect color scheme for the body style.
That car is just the perfect GT Classic and in an amazing color spec.the 50s and 60s produced the best looking cars that are truly timeless and will always be special, low build numbers only add to that allure. Love Lamborghini history which is covered from the actual men on Davide Cironi’s amazing channel. Many interviews with all of the legends themselves who are more than happy to share the true stories behind these stunning early Italian masterpieces.
What a beautiful car!
thank you Jay, this I think is one of your best programs. This car really brought out the best of you as a car analyst, psychoanalyst? Yes, that's what you are; a car psychoanalyst.
I like how much the wiper wipes on the windscreen
what I was thinking, works very well for one wiper on a big screen.
John Matthews i dont think i made my sarcasm very obvious :\
Sarcasm does not translate in text. 95% communication being non- verbal. But yes, the wiper is good enough.
Beautiful car, and one of my favorites.
Hi and thx for a great channel. Always been a fan of the Espada, is there a chance that you someday will make a presentation of it? Thx in advance and hugs
wow I love this car to see it on the road makes my day thanks for posting Jay
What a bloody beautiful car, i've never really liked the lambo look, but this is a funky looking machine.
WONDERFUL, thank you.
A true gentleman's car. I'm sold! I want one!
jay, i've been watching this show for a few months now, the more i watch this the more i wish you would be one of the lead host of the US top gear....you have the knowledge...hell you probably have the car lol...and you can do an interview a hell lot better for the star in a reasonably priced car.....love your series...thanks for doing this.
Awe inspiring beauty!! Thanks Jay for such a review of an amazing car!
Stunning!! What a great sounding engine - refined even when giving it some!!
I have yet had the priviledge of seeing one of these in person, thanks Jay.
BEAUTIFUL ITALIAN CLASSIC, AND GRATE RESTAURATION LOVE THE INTERIOR UPHOLSTERY....
