Marrakesh, Morocco is one of the coolest places in the world for street photography. There are images to be made everywhere, and an absolute photogenic feast for the lenses of any photographer.
Joe Allam has joined me in Morocco for this series to help me and my workshop participants with the street side of our photography adventure. And, of course, there will also be a lot of travel mixed in there as well over this vlog series with Joe. On the schedule beyond Marrakesh is Chefchaouen, and Fes.
This is the first time Joe Allam has been on the channel, and I'm excited to show him around this amazing country. You know, as long we're allowed to be here.

Nice one, dude - thanks again for having me on the trip! It's utterly immeasurable how different the world was at the time we started the trip to how things ended up only a few days later. The domino effect in full-force for sure. I appreciate the heartfelt message of support and am already re-evaluating my own business to see how we can navigate through this mess.

Hey Brendan. Thanks for this inspiring video. My wish is for you and Jodie to stay healthy, which has to be 1st priority. The world is suffering a terrible challenge right now, however, I feel that life always has a way of working out. There is light at the end of that proverbial tunnel so take heart. If we cannot go out to shoot, we can always use our imaginations and take some great images indoors. Stay strong and stay positive! Cheers for now :)
The world will be in a very different place when all this is over, if we can learn from this just how fickle life is and how important family is then some good will have come from it. We may all have to start over again but maybe we will care a little bit more about each other.

As someone starting out on youtube and considering to try and earn an income from a hobby to supplement a meagre day job, the concept of the income octopus is help enough. Stay safe and hopefully we'll all be back to normal sooner than later.

I love how your generosity is so genuine and that comes across loud and clear in all of your videos but this one especially. I don't know if I speak for everybody but I can certainly speak for myself and I'm sure a lot of people. The greatest way that you can help me is by helping yourself. By producing more content even if it's just you talking about different subjects helps me get through the isolation by providing me entertainment and education. It was actually your video a month or two past where you ran around with a film camera for a few days that completely changed my hobby of photography. I have a Canon 6D and a set of l-glass and I love shooting it but there was something about film that just felt more real and you sparked that. It's not a revenue source but it is a new hobby and that kind of a distraction is very powerful. So thanks for everything and keep it up. PS I'm still on the lookout for a nice functioning film camera to send your way.

I don't remember the clouds on that day, but we might have been taking a trip to the Atlas Mountains. Shucks, would have liked to meet up. Another time. We all have our own crosses to bear with this crisis. Mine is that my father won't have the send-off he deserves due to the restrictions and I might not even get to his funeral. But we all need to stay safe. Oh and we loved Morocco!!

Fair play Brendan and very considerate of you to try help people in times like this. Some youtubers are offering sales on their courses that has left a bad taste in my mouth. Yes I understand they have a business to run as I work for myself in construction this is hitting me hard in Ireland. But their timing of their sale is worthless to most people who are trying to keep money a side for bills, food and mortgage etc. On one channel I think they were charging €30 but I have bought 4 photography books for less and will be more valuable when we go into lock down. Photography is a stress relief for me and many others. Once again thank you for your kind gesture and stay save.

I think this whole Corona issue is something we all need, as we need to learn to not be so greedy and just enjoy the little things like nature, which is totally free. But it should also show how much nicer the world is with no traffic and maybe get us to all realize that we need to look after our environment and do all possible to reduce pollution. Plus it really shows that working remotely is easy to do, and should be done by loads. I'm in tourism, and we have been hit badly, but we will definitely survive it.

I'm a UK expat living in Malaysia, my Malay, Chinese and a few other nationalities are inspired by your enthusiasm and passion for you work/art/photography and of course your sharing of your travels and work. via CZcams, vlogs ect.
These are serious times, we are on full lockdown here in Malaysia, but thanks to modern techno we communicate with each other. My retired

I think the best piece of advice you had was the “income octopus”. It makes so much sense for the smaller business person. As for the the rest of it at least you made it back to Jodi. Being with family during these times is so important. Hang in there and we will all make it through this

Always a breath of fresh air Brendan, keep up the positivity 👌 iam a captain for easyjet and we are pretty much grounded at the moment, sad times for all. 🙁 but when when things return and you fly with us again come and say hello. I have loved your page for quite a while. There is a story to tell, and absent immediate help you can give those who follow you, you can tell a massive story about what is happening right now. I didn't pick up where you are in the world now (I am guessing Portugal), and am fasting from social media other than a YT video here and there...but stories are most certainly around you.
I pray that they present themselves to you in a way that you can record things safely for after this thing goes away...and it will...reflecting on the story will be healing for many. A video...a documentary...a book....??

For those of us social distancing at home let's try to make images of the little things around us and post to instagram, facebook or wherever. Show the workd that life goes on and that we will emerge stronger when the crisis is over.

Brendan. Like you I am taking a hit on work. I was in Berlin for ITB a couple of weeks ago and although I managed to salvage a number of the 34 meetings I had they are now up in the air because of all this.
Back in February I did my PfCO drone pilot course and I need to finish the flight part before the beginning of June in the UK. I don't know if I can now do that. What's the significance? There are new regulations coming in as of 1st July 2020 and the PfCO will be obsolete. Supposed to be doing a talk in London in June about my adventures in Mongolia. Still seems good but again unsure if I can get there.
And if other people are reading this I am going to say a HUGE thank you to Brendan for doing what he does. Because of this channel I came across a few other ways in which I should be monetizing what I do. When I last saw, and first met, Brendan in 2018 in Berlin he mentioned me in one his videos although not by name. After a really nice talk with Brendan I re-evaluated what I need to do in order to get work and his advice paid off.
Maybe some of you out there think that Brendan talks crap about how he earns money etc. He doesn't. He knows and has been gracious enough to share so take close note of it.

Same boat as you, ITB was a total disaster for me work-wise, I only had 7 meetings booked but they were with some really interesting companies and people, I managed to get on a call with 2 of them but obviously they aren't doing a thing for at least three months, the rest I've had radio silence. I got some shots I'm proud of whilst I was there but I'm never going to pay off the trip just from those.
@@jakebrennan7685 I managed to contact nearly all 34 of my contacts but whilst in Berlin there were some other events going on despite the cancellation of ITB. I did manage to get some decent leads here and some offers but again they seem to be up in the air. It is extremely frustrating.
Currently trying to sort out a ticket I had to Taiwan and Vietnam for this April. Hoping I don't lose nearly 1000€ 😩

I was in Marrakech exactly 1 year ago. I found it very difficult to do street photography as the locals don’t approve of it and/or wanted to be paid if you caught them in a photo. Maybe I should have been more assertive. Great job!
About the clouds. I had clouds in September in Marrakech and it actually rained it the Sahara.

Thanks for these positive thoughts and vibe, much needed in these times. I've been planning to quit my hated job for like 3,5 years now and go on a 12 months working holiday to New Zealand. I already had flight tickets, gear, I was in 2 months reach of breathing some New Zealand air finally. But now it's all destroyed. If you could push Immigration New Zealand to extend visas expiring in this chaotic period, that would be a miracle :D I'm just kidding, I know noone has this kind of power. But you could do a vlog about how authorities, tourism boards could help people don't loose their dreams and hopes. Keep up and stay healthy! Cheers from Hungary

That's in it's easy, I think in the spring
So many people around the world will lose their income and possibly their jobs. There are a lot of brains out there working overtime right now on what to do next. I like your frank talk, it’s so important for your community. Out of this crisis there is some good news in that we all have plenty of time in isolation to re-access our lives. Are we happy in our jobs or are we just doing it for the money? Is there something I would rather do? Can I survive on the income from a new job that I may love? Do I need education for that new job? What will it cost, how much time will it take? Can I start learning now online while I have this down time? Then thinking about family, relationships, life goals, plans of attack once the virus is in control, an on and on.... hopefully in the long run, more people will be happier and more content than before this life changing event. On another note, I loved your street photography. I like your simplistic style and you definitely ARE good at it! Hang in the Brendan!
I don't rely in photography for my income, i'm just a low self-esteem amateur guy with a camera, the thing i love the most about photography is to travel, and right now i can't go anywhere, i'm reprocessing my old bad photos, trying to learn something. I will not hide that i would love to do landscape photography for a living but it's such a saturated market that you need to be really clever how to find your spot, and for that those photos need to be really good.

So kind of you to be wanting to help others! I really hope that everyone will manage to get through this financially and that they get to keep their businesses.. I was working on starting my photography business but that is on hold now since this is probably the worst time to be starting my business, and I'm glad I didn't start it a few months ago because I would have not gotten through this.. But it's not forever, eventually things will work out I hope.. Just really doubting right now if starting a full-time photography business is a wise thing to do.. This was the plan, but maybe it's better to start off with a part-time job and a part-time business so to say..
Can't someone open a Facebook page or whatever for those who need help? People could post there what kind of help they need, and others could react.. Like you said, if someone needs views on their CZcams videos, I'd be happy to help as well.. And maybe there's more we can do.. We have to do everything to somehow make it work for each other, right?

Brendan... I have a solid proposal... make your way back to Alberta somehow, set up camp in Kananaskis, (should there be another 'n' somewhere?), and advertise workshops in and around the parks. I'm certain you'd have many followers flocking from western Canada ..

glad you are fine, and safe. one thing you could help many of us is to continue being yourself, we all need realist positivity at this point, and if you can use your platform to encourage people to heed the advice of the experts, and practice social distancing, do their isolation, quarantine etc...... I watch your video aching that i can't go and shoot like that now, but the faster we flatten the curb and buy the health care services the time they need, the faster we will be able to hit the streets again.
Keep in mind this too shall pass. It means a "new normal" and we have to be prepared to jump on that when the opportunity arises. Stay safe, healthy and positive. (NB: From A Cochrane, Alberta.....)
