+Chan Shen I like how every time riot makes a new champ with a very unique play style the individuals who are accustom to the "press enter and win" type games throw their hands up in frustration and quit. Then after a few weeks and after getting accustomed to how the champ plays and what it takes to counter lower their pitchforks/torches and store up their over-reactions for the next unique champion that riot releases.
She takes some getting use too and might get some tweaks, but she isn't as op as people are claiming that she is.
It was ok with Kindred and Tahm and few more before that. But Illaoi is somewhat too much (for me at least). The E has way too much utility for a non ultimate. You go nearer to stop her, she'll hit you, you run out of range you'll get extremely slowed and have friggin tentacles spawning around you = getting hit more AND shes a tanky character. Whats the counterplay?
I was turned into a vessel and I couldn't recall anywhere because tentacles kept appearing (there are walls literally everywhere) and after I walked half of the map a tentacle killed me
not to mention Illaoi was dead
champions on release are fun to deal against
Kill 3 of them and you destroy the curse of being a vessel. Otherwise it was your fault for becoming one in the first place lol. And it isn't hard to dodge them at all if you pay attention.

Illaoi main here, for any new people trying to find out about her, some thing have changed since this video. You can no longer reduce the time left on the spirit by attacking her, and when you're a vessel you can't get rid of it by killing 3 tentacles.

If you were gone from League for a couple of weeks:
They shifted focus to make ADC's super, powerful.
Darius is still OP as hell.
They changed all the masteries, so you have to re-format and get used to them
They changed around all the items and added a crap ton of new ones.
They're changing the vision game completely.
They're putting a mini-Baron in the game for more objectives early on.
*AND* there's a new champion that is super tanky, mobile, and has no counterplay with Teemo levels of frustration.

Not all of them are crazy. But quinn got a bit carried away, Graves got incredible ammounts of short ranged burst, and KogMaw with that INSANE AS boosting ability? Corki rework was much needed, but now it's hard to build against him with his increased mobility and Magic/Attack damage passive.
Not that they're all being buffed, but on top of these few tweaks, we have ADC focused items in the shop that make it a bit more difficult to predict an ADC's build path and combat predictability.
ADC's have more utility and power than ever before with a few of the new items. And while that's not saying much... they're giving a crazy kid with firecrackers a firework from 4th of July and asking him not to blow it up.

I think counterplay is there.
Her E does no damage, and creates a soul that reflects reduced damage to you. If you attack her, and she ignores your soul and attacks you back, both of you are doing 100% damage to each other but she is down a skill. If she focuses the soul, you're doing 100% damage to her but she is doing reduced damage to you (because your soul reflects reduced damage back to you).
The only way she wins is she has to line up her own Q or her tentacles on the wall to hit both you and your soul at the same time, to amplify the damage. This is where positioning comes in, and that's the case in countless league of legends match ups. To make it easier, and frankly fair imo, the tentacles have a slight wind up time, and its hit box is outlined on the ground. Obviously you can't move your own soul, but you can look where your soul is in relation to her and the tentacles on the wall and make adjustments.
Running away is the wrong thing to do, usually. Fighting is the right thing to do. She's down a skill that didn't actually damage you. Fight her, you have an extra ability on her. Just watch your positioning.

Not that there isn't any counter play - but The counterplay is so limited, especially in team fights that it constricts the value of an enemy.
If Illoai was squishy, counterplay focused on attacking her would be a viable excuse. But because she is designed as a tank, forcing enemies to attack her to avoid damage is completely backwards with everything else the game is designed around.
Tanks (Not Juggernauts, we need to balance them) in general have CC but are to be largely ignored in team fights to focus on the squishier players.
Our new tentacle girl here can force enemies into a situation where they MUST attack the tank, or face the incredible negative consequences that follow. Consequences that can lose the fight... or the GAME.
It's not that a smart or skilled player can't outsmart or outplay these mechanics - but that's no excuse for the lack of balance within.
You don't look at a completely OP weapon in COD and say "Well, if you just use a rocket launcher to kill that enemy, then you don't have to worry. And if that person is dumb, you can run circles around them with a pistol."
Yes, if you're very smart and build accordingly, you can negate the effects of *ONE* power from *ONE* enemy, and that's if they are not paying attention and have poor team synergy.
By your standards, Darius and Garen are not super powerful, because people could easily invest in movement speed to outrun them and use spell vamp to heal back damage during a fight.
No excuse.
They're still stronger than necessary and require balancing to make them professionally acceptable.
If you defend everything by saying "Well, yes, but you can completely rework how you play the game to negate that." then there will be *NO* such thing as a lack of balance for you, shy of dying at spawn.

Had the chance to try her todayt. Hella fun.
Also, I found a somewhat different way to use her E. You grab a soul, but since it retains the life of the Champ the moment it was taken, I accidentally started going for the actual body, which got condemned by our Vayne. When the main body flashed over the wall they got condemned on(Jungle, red team, red buff) with maybe, 3-4% health, the spirit was still there, so Vayne and I pummeled the spirit which still had the original health of the enemy. The damage, of course, got transferred, and the Irelia died. LMAO
That E seems to be ULT quality. That's the trouble.

+snocone 42 I've played her a few times, you need to be careful to stay with your tentacles, and E in teamfights, the future vessel doesn't often 'kill' the tentacles since his/her team does it for him/her (bronze mode) Or people can just be smart and let the vessel take those tentacles out, that'd be a good defensive thing

To counter her E, step forward and attack her. This will lower the timer on your soul, while also exposing you to her Q,W, the eighteen tentacles around you and her auto-aim R that will also kill your jungler as well as the Rift Herald

She is such a bully and I love it, I was finding it hard to get into LOL. I didn't feel like any Champ was like my Champ. So years pass and friends keep bothering me to play. I decide to give it a go since Paragon my go to MObA was dead. :( . So I look over the Champs, see the same faces of Champs that interest me none. Then I look at the top of new Champs, and see some promising ones. Of them Is Illaoi, before even reading guides or tiers I go off her skills and decide. Sure looks like I can be a complete A Hole and buy her on impulse. Boy was i right. I now play LOL and enjoy it. Good on you guys for finally making a hero for me.

Every time a new champ comes out, LoL players have to ask for a nerf... Why?
Mainly because people have to learn the champions when they first come out and cream their pants at the opportunity to be outraged. I still hate this champion more than teemo and every other champion because illaoi's "W" skill is extremely hard to deal with when you're playing trundle (or other melee champions with low health that relie on fast attack speed and life steal)
Her W key ability may as well be a 2nd ultimate. Depending on what champion you pick you might be better off keeping a 1 mile radius between you and illaoi because she nukes harder than veigar, and has twice as much health as veigar. She might even match up to a mid game nasus. If you focus on a mobility build you can deal with her but it's still rediculous how overpowered she is especially late game. That's all.
Pls Rito make an Illaoi skin with the title: Hentai Nightmare, adding you know, those things that are on a Hentai Nightmare :3

No. Her tentacles place a set attack speed that only get increased by her ult when she ultra for a few seconds and they do a flat amount of dmg with ad scalings.

I don't get how people are complaining about her E. Is it that damn hard to dodge the tentacles or just kill 3 to remove it?? Why does it feel like Bronze everywhere.
+Bladeshamer9 it isn't hard. But it does keep you from last hitting creeps. And that's why this 'mini-game' is so damn annoying.

Paul Reuss Yeah, luckely so far i haven't faced any decent Illaoi's. But once people get the build and playstyle right this champ is gonna be annoying as fuck. Just her e needs fixing really. I'm fine with the rest.
Vanix Gond the e got the potential to be even a strong ult. it deals so much dmg in lategame its ridiculous and the temtacle spawning is also very strong if it comes to late
If they nerf illaois E then she becomes a complete shit. She just has too many weakness and very few strenght..
