      The engine is outdated they need to just move to UE5 as for game...well they stripped so much out over last 10+ alphas. the game its 1st 10 alpha's was amazing it was fun again over 10 years old and going wrong direction.
      lets not get started FP Love banning users on the steam forums and theres for criticism and than saying they have a small team which is a lie they have a large team when other indie games with 1-2 devs pump out more content then FP does in 2 years.
      the games generation is buggy as hell and its been modders fixing there game. the game was fun for it 1st 3-5 years but really started going downhill trying to make it more like a RPPH

    I have 800+ hours and received this game as a gift from a friend. Playing this game makes time fly by, and I lose myself in it. It truly is an incomparable game. However, at times, it feels like the developers are chasing their tails, constantly redesigning things. It could benefit from more content, improved animations, and 3D models that change based on eating or drinking.

    • @lrinfi
      @lrinfi Před 5 měsíci +6

      It could benefit from a lot of things, e.g. balancing crafting recipes so that they make sense as opposed to continually tweaking those numbers in an effort to slow or quicken the progression of specific skills, etc. No way should an axe head require 50 iron ingots to craft while an iron double door requires only 10 unless the developers are trying to incentivize mining for ore over the equally viable alternative of simply buying it w/Dukes.
      The reason it's probably not such a great idea is that some players are going to hate mining for ore while others are going to love mining for ore. If it's to be a game that players can play any way they like, players probably shouldn't be forced to do things in ways they don't want to do them. It won't make the game more difficult for players. It will make the game aggravating and frustrating for players.
      I get that TFPs are learning here, but a good question to ask when creating recipes, etc. would simply be "do the requirements make sense for the item being crafted"? 100 cloth to make a single pocket? What are we making? A pocket or a quilt?
      Numbers like that need only make sense. Skill progression, game pacing, etc. should be achieved via other means, e.g. XP.

    TFP has basically been spinning their wheels, doing little graphic updates, revamping (the same) systems patch after patch. The reality for many is after a few weeks of a new Alpha most people go back to ignoring the game because the level of content is almost non-existent. The mod makers are truly the ones keeping the overall community engaged in the game; if we did not have the overhaul mods, I doubt the community would of been interested past A19. -- Parting thought: Why are TFP working on another game? Why not complete 7d2d and then move on?

    • @lrinfi
      @lrinfi Před 5 měsíci +2

      A different company is developing that game, which is based on a concept that already has been and/or is being done by many others, e.g. the makers of Carnival Hunt. It's just using 7 Days' "Blood Moon" theme and probably some assets.
      I don't want to sound cynical, but just as the market is now flooded with survival games that look and play nearly identical to one another and largely contain little more than bare bones "gameplay loops", some are hopping aboard the bandwagons of popular gaming trends; extracting whatever profit from them they can; and moving on to the next trend, not unlike a lot of triple A companies are at this point. Not saying that's what TFPs are doing. They're obviously still actively developing 7 Days, but I'd be lying if I said licensing a second game based on its themes doesn't give me pause. Are they in it solely for profit or also because they just love making and playing games? I most certainly don't know.

      @@lrinfi i tell you. They are here for the money and nothing else...Their lack of skills is amazing and the game performs so badly because its foundation is a bunch of unity store assets glued together in a very amateur manner, that is why they never will fix that crap of a game. And im not talking about the 3d assets and textures.. they have been changing those overtime, sometimes not really improving them, just making "their own" to the max of their skills (very low skills). Il give a little piece of info that will make clear what they are about: When the first prototype was released, the blocky one, the whole game was a full asset flip, nothing was made by them and they chose the cheapest voxel technology in the store just because it was like 200 dollars. The good voxel module, one that will make your pants drop even nowadays, was over 1000 dollars, so they took the cheap ass one.. It had lead to this poor performance overtime. The good system, came with a super good physic's engine. Could track the falling of one of the huge buildings without slowdowns.. you know what happenbs when you do that with the tech they are using, the game chokes... so.. this game. which made them millions and millons, runs like crap just because they saved around 800 dollars back then...that should tell you everything.

    • @lrinfi
      @lrinfi Před 19 dny

      @@Trikipum They're obviously not the most technologically proficient developers around, but neither are they engaged in predatory industry practices like in-game "stores" and microtransactions....yet. And I sincerely hope they don't go that route. Many indie devs, however, are getting their start the same way: making a proof of concept in one engine or another using the engines' store bought assets as placeholders and replacing them over time. TFP have made a product; they've sold the product; and a great many people obviously like if not downright love the product. Those are the only reasons I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and consider the former mod authors simply have been and are more or less learning as they go. It takes a lot of moxie to not just talk about making a game, especially if relatively inexperienced, but actually do it regardless how others feel about the end result. I'll start to worry about them if and when they go the Chris Roberts and Cloud Imperium Games way of "crowd funding" and start egregiously gouging people for money.
      To be clear, the game is still little more than a demo with a bare bones gameplay loop to my mind, which the promise is to expand upon down the line with a forthcoming story mode, etc. and has a lot of potential even if said potential has yet to be fully realized. They've tried implementing the much anticipated "feature" of bandits before with little success because I doubt they had the hands on board at the time to create the AI necessary to make them work properly any more than they have a dedicated sound designer or music director. Up and coming devs other than the brothers who had the bright idea to make a game of their own over Thanksgiving dinner one day have joined and left the team over time, of course, one of them saying it's the best job they've ever had because they're treated like family, their new POI artist being a master of those voxel shapes, imo. The POIs in this game are architecturally amazing and probably the best thing it has going for it, atm, imo. It lacks in other areas and I think they're overly focused on creating POIs, RWG, RNG, number crunching and catering to popular (for some reason) min-max playstyles. Ten years is a long time for the game to be in active development, but triple As with billion dollar budgets take at least six years and still turn out slop.
      For the moment, I'm thinking of TFP as a small, family owned business not much different than one I used to work for; a small, family owned business that obviously cares about their employees and are doing the best they can with what they've got. Of course, they want the game to be financially successful as well as successful in the more important, unmeasurable ways to stay in business, so I'm taking a time will tell approach with regard to that potential.

      @@ExotiKGaming Dude, i got banned back then.. when they redid the whole UI to "rust" standars.(a carbon copy of it). It was about the same time rust had a single food item (was a placeholder there). The pimps are so great at developing, they revamped their UI, which looked "classic", to copy a super stylized rust UI and then remove the meat items.. Funny enough, both the UI and the meat thing in rust where placeholders, later on they added more meat items and a new UI (in rust)....But, we, as 7dtd playes, were stuck for many alphas while they updated these things just because they were playing rust back then..THe best part is when rust just changed everything to something else but the pimps already had changed their own based on rust's placeholders.. talk about being unoriginal.. Anyway, i was banned from their forums when i pointed out "we dont need rust's UI, what we have is fine and goes with the game setting"....They changed their own UI, that took them years to create for RUST's placeholder..imagine developing a game like that..well, it is what they have been doing for 10 years.. they play a game together, like it 1000 time sbetter than their own, because they are always better games, then they try to copy it in their game, but they are incompetent.. so you get this asset flip frankestein with 1 decade of small changes ...

This new mechanic makes me not want to play it in its current stage. You put points into the skills to get the books that you want to read for your playthrough but it doesn't always work. I wasn't around much before A21, but learned very quickly that those two changes, especially, are intense sore spots between the community and devs. So, I tested them out for myself and think community feedback about those particular changes is sound. This is why it appears like they are chasing their tails because they in fact are as that's what you do without having proper development vision to plan out how you want your game play. There were so many builds of this game that i genuinely enjoyed like 5 years back but it was clearly rough then. instead of adding more content to the game and balancing what they already had, they keep deciding to redesign what functioned in lieu of fixing and adding the things that clearly needed work.

    I spent about $25 bucks for at least 8 alphas and spent over 6K hours. I am not happy to see more delays, but at least I am not paying for DLCs for a broken game. I know this is early access and will support this game since I can see things moving forward. Now, for that original price, I am playing several overhauls so for that price I am playing 1-5 games. I honestly can't complain, but I enjoyed some of the older systems, and agree they could be cheesed. Also, understand they needed to streamline things to make some performance changes. I appreciate they have a plan and they are working towards it. I assume A22 will be fluff release to make console better and more performing assume a June release or pushed to Halloween release. A23 will be the bandits and partial story implementation Xmas if we are lucky more like March 2025 . A24 will be a final cut before beta to finally go gold in end of 2025, probably Halloween drop. I guess if you are only playing Vanilla the players will drop off based on the stagnant content, but playing the overhauls make that wait for the next drop almost bearable. Die hard fan!

      I don't think it matters, either, especially from the player perspective, although wrapping it up would free up TFPs developers for making a new and, perhaps, even more interesting game. The "Blood Moon" game that's been announced isn't even being developed by them and will be just another entry in an already saturated market for that type of game.

I further think that's why so-called "radiant quests" are so prominent at the moment. It's what they know how to do, so it's what they're doing.

Would be nice to for them to fix the clear quests though!! i’ve had 10+ quests broken and unfinished due to the issue with buttons not working, being broken, etc. The fact that the triggers that spawn zombs for quest completion can be broken/destroyed/ or bugged is just a huge annoyance to players. Wasted plenty of HOURS of my life strategically carefully going through high tier quests just to find out that a button is broken and can’t be pressed. And it’s happened multiple times. In tier 5 clear Higachi Tower there’s a room with a switch - where an exploding cop zombie easily blows up the surrounding room including the button and breaks the quest….

      TFPs is a legal business entity and there could be reputation and perhaps even potential IP issues involved in that. Mod authors know when they mod a game that they are working with assets they don't own and that the mods they create do not, in fact, belong to them, but if TFPs implement a feature that some find too similar to that of an existing mod, what's to stop the mod author or others from claiming the idea was "stolen" by TFPs? In fact, Bethesda Game Studios has been accused of "stealing" mod authors' ideas in the past. Fortunately, the mod authors in question have been big enough to say that if Bethesda was inspired by their mod, they're honored, but don't consider co-inspiration stealing. Alek's whistle quest for Convenient Horses of Skyrim fame is an excellent example. So, no developers have instituted a whistle quest for characters to learn to whistle for their horse, but there was no whistling for horses in video games before that mod was made, afik. Now, however, it's almost a standard in professionally developed games featuring horses from The Witcher 3 to RDR2. Oh, what we owe Alek for that one!
      Mod features are actually adopted by the gaming industry all the time. A game inspires mod authors; mod authors in turn inspire professional game developers; but mod authors are not paid for their work whereas professional game devs are. TFPs would be opening a huge can of worms if they "acknowledged" the modding community in the way you're suggesting.

      To give you perspective: Rimworld is a game that has basically a mod for almost everything apart from a 3D envirionment cause thats impossible for a 2D game. The newest DLC had dropped and it implemented ideas that were SIMILAR to mods that already existed. Well its impossible for the devs to make content that wasnt already covered by modders and the DLC itself did not just copy and paste the ideas but made it there own. Yet people still accused them of stealing. Here is the best part once again: The dev is totally within his right to do a copy and paste job. He didnt. And still was accused. Its his game, his property, his IP. Modders know this.

    Ok I will speak on this as a player with 1000+ hours. I will not gonna sugar coat my opinion cause I had been frequently on the forums on steam to critique the game left and right for roughly 6 years after 10+ years of playing the game. Yup I was an early bird. Not kickstarter no, but soon as I saw gameplay after it was on early access on steam, I bought it. Chilled Chaos, mans got me into it. Dont blame him, I had my fun. But that fun eventually dwindled. *Anyhow* here I go. Watch yourself, this is a lengthy comment cause boy I got lots to say on this game lol
    - Why is the game being in Early Acsess a problem? Truth be told, its not. The problem is that its in EA but also still in Alpha. And that after 10 years. On the surface I dont see it bad to excuse a game for being in EA as long as the updates are satisfying at the very least. But when you get to the point where you notice that TFP does one thing after the next and it shoots against any logic or pre-established idea that was present in the game, it starts to no longer be a valid excuse. Notice that word? Excuse? Its on the same level as "justification". As in, it reeks of being a problem.
    Project Zomboid has released just a bit earlier than 7D2D into Early Access. It too is still in development. The only thing about the two games that differs is the perspective. Otherwise the games play practically the same way. But 7D2D has more people actually being mad than PZ. Why is that you wonder? Well for one, PZ is being worked on, on the side. They frequently hire modders for the game to make it work and the updates that do eventually come out bring more depth and interesting features to the game that you couldnt imagine were possible but always thought of wanting.
    7D2D? One day they add a way to immersively put together a bike. The next they take that out and instead give you menu crafting flat. One day they introduce a tablesaw to halt progression, the next they take it out cause... Actually there is no reason really but Ill get to this specifically at the end of the comment. I promise ya, you dont wanna miss that one cause it will shed a light on 7D2D like nothing else the game is being critiqued over. Anyhow, they introduce Learn By Doing, then switch the skilling, messed up the game to make it an XP grind fest and then make it even more a grind fest by adding traders. Lo and behold they create a whole new system thats... actually just learn by doing but now you actually *have to* go out and grind for loot in order to get anything done.
    Something you will have noticed as any player is the constant need to push the player into a grindfest that the player doesnt want to be forced into. Players for the most part hate the traders. Cause all they do is give out quests. Why do players hate quests? Cause its just another lootgrind. And why is this a problem you may wonder? Cause the lootgrind is basically just dungeoneering over and over and over again until you just wanna comm-
    Something that I had noticed is this: Whenever TFP noticed that the players could use something to their advantage in any way shape or form that was "Too much", they would start to "fix" the exploit asap. And the newest update that came out speaks volumes on that end too. Learn by Reading doesnt just slow down progress, it punches down on the breaks and makes you come to a full stop. You could grind before if you wanted to. Now you are forced to, to make any meaningful progress. And this is very relevant when you look at the skilling changes from LBD to Skills to LBR alone. One exploit after another was found to make the game easier until they came to a foolproof conclusion the player could no longer exploit unless they use game settings. I have another book to sell you on that particular topic but Ima keep it focused.
    When TFP sees something that is either "not needed" or "could be done better" they will start to fix it. They will start to redo it. Over and over and over again. None of the "fixes" we got were neccesary. All we required were balance patches. And this applies to nearly everything in the game. From the too many dungeons, to a crazy lootspike and level grind to the whole issue with how the game feels piss easy after you get past weapon tier 0 and oh goodness I can mention so much more but this comment is long enough as it is.
    So whats the big issue I mentioned way above? Its about the very thing I mentioned just a moment ago already. Exploits and Game balance. Every time players find something TFP thinks needs to be fixed, TFP will fix it even tho it never needed to be fixed and they end up making it worse. The world feels too easy? Add dungeons and make every house one. Survival is too easy? Give players a ton of predators to deal with and let them no longer pick up flowers easily and make them waste stamine for it. Combat is too easy? Well lets make some variants and harder Zombies, surely that will do the tr- the tier 1 pistol is OP and cannot ever be replaced by anything this game has to offer, it can outdamage a literal LMG because it doesnt matter how fast the LMG fires, you just need the correct mods for the Pistol and you can spam every single zombie, irradiated or not, to death and then some. I mean its not like bullets are no where to be found. Which btw, they also fixed again. Before it was too easy to find them. Then no longer. Now its abundant again. Whoopsiedaisy, guess it was a placeholder again guys.
    TFP, the mods on the forums and the whiteknights this game has (not talking about you, you at least acknowledge the game has problems), are nothing more but disingenious a-holes. If I have one thing left to say about this game after it drove out all passion I had for it: Rip it from your account and refuse to be a number in their system. I wrote so in my review. And I will tell everyone who is even slightly displeased with the game. Its not gonna get better. The game will never leave Alpha. It will not happen. Stop wearing your rose tinted glasses. They already work on their new game anyhow. Nothing is gonna come from this. They took the money and metaphorically ran away with it.

    I could fix several issues off the bat.
    First of all, skills. Salvaging and Harvesting should be their own category. Arms, armor, and gear should be their own category. Stat agility should cover attack/draw speed, move speed, jumping, "evading every # attack that would otherwise land" evasion". Strength should cover carry weight, forcing doors and containers, lifting gates, and bending bars. Endurance should cover heat/cold/rad/disease resistance, health regeneration, stun recovery, and stamina regeneration. Perception should let you spot higher value loot without opening containers, spot enemies better(even capping out with giving them a glow within a certain distance) hostiles actually show up on the compass, highlight trash piles, nests, and dens, when invested heavily enough.
    Intellect increases xp gain, governs points learned each book read, contributes to item crafted quality(yes, learn by crafting was a superior system, to a point. It should contribute, not dictate outright) trade prices, trade quality, and trade rarity.
    They need to introduce a charisma attribute, so you can haggle, getting better rates the more you invest not just quests completed, but trades done with traders. An option in the charisma tree to make a trader a favorite.

    I watched Neebs gaming play 7 days and it looked fun. I was shocked to buy a 2 pack of the game for around 10$.
    My first few playthroughs ended fairly quickly, I was having fun... but on a bad map, no cooking pot for a few days, and I didnt know what I was doing.
    I am now on day 55 of an INT playtrhough.. I have a minibike, junk turrets, sledge turrets, a drone with a bunch of cargo mods... My horde base has shotgun turrets, solar panels, an automated garage door entrance and a 4 story elevator shaft full of blade traps with an automated trap door to drop zombies...
    I am sure there are issues, but I am having so much fun I really dont notice... I use a few quality of life mods that make the game even better. When I bought the game, I didnt even realize Alpha 22 was just around the corner and free... SO no complaints from me. I litereally got two copies for ten bucks... I got my moneys worth and then some... If I dont like A22, I will play A22 or an overhaul mod.

      its been there since day 1 and they wil never fix it because they are amateurs. People dont understand what is going on with this game and why is so laggy for what it offers... It comes back to the foundation of the game, they made the whole thing using unity store assets, the cheapest.. and it shows.. Where they had an option that performed x10 faster and costed 1000 dollars, they chose the inferior version for 200 dollars, and then hacked them together in a very amateur manner. The only person with some talent there is the guy doing the procedural part, the rest are hacks....It has been almost a decade, but i remember a guy who made a list with every aseet they were using from unity store and they all were the cheapest and worse performing.. the other voxel engine was amazing and ran x10 faster than what they use, and it was just 800 dollars more.. this is how cheap they are

    • @lrinfi
      @lrinfi Před 5 měsíci +1

      That's pretty obviously a death loop for the game right now. As soon as a CZcamsr trivializes the AI with his or her masterpiece of a horde base design, the AI is changed, supposedly to patch an "exploit" when It's not an exploit that's being patched, but a creative solution to the horde night dilemma, which is the whole point of the game, atm.
      I've joked that the game probably has been made a much better game simply by virtue of the devs coming up with new and creative ways to thwart players who seem, actually, not to want to play it because they keep coming up with new and creative ways to avoid doing it. :)

    in my opinion, 13 alpha is better than what we have now. and there’s no need to say something like (well, just play it) I’m already doing it. It’s just that what we have now, in my opinion, is overloaded and oversaturated with not so necessary content. yes of course new versions have better graphics and so on. but not only in the graphics, it’s simply not as interesting to play as the same 13 alpha, and I won’t even talk about the weight of the game. well, optimization also only got worse over time. especially this fucking radioactive/acid spitting zombies that shit is bad like honestly looks way out of place. the 13th alpha at least keept the more if you can call it that "realistic" setting but now with all this new bullshit they added glowing zombies shit ton of weapons that does not seem possible i mean i get it its a game but man a fucking electric/lightning stick is just way to much. also i always hoped for correct viewmodels for the game. like you know if you have gloves you should see them on your hands, or sleeves from whatever clothes, but no they decided to add fucking drones and glowing zombies. after like 3k hours that i spent mostly playing alpha 13 and sometimes switching to alpha 15 to play with my friend at the time when it was the newest one, i can clearly say that if they keep on doing what they are doing with the game now its just gonna die in like 7 days ;). but if were being serious the game really lost its original meaning, and i cannot really say what it actually was i always tought of it as a minecraft with zombies and better building, all tho 40% of my time is spend making farms, theres just something i like about it building a base and growing food there. well anyway. theres nothing else to say other then the fact that the game really went the wrong way. but again thats just my opinion. all tho one more thing i hope for its workshop, i can only imagine how many things could have been possible with it, it would have been amazing to be able to get a few mods and completely overhaul the game to lets say look like older versions.

The new pipe guns are not fun to use, the new farrming is no fun, but it is techically more balanced, since you have tier of weapons before normal guns and you have to skill up in farming to get any benefits. • @7Seven-Four4
    @7Seven-Four4 Před 5 měsíci

    I don't care that it's still in "early access". A buyable game is considered released on principle. It's just a courtesy label indicating the volatile nature of the game's updates and active ongoing development. Terraria has been long considered complete and yet has still received content updates over the years that make it almost unrecognizable compared to the game I actually bought a long time ago. Would anything actually be different if they had kept an early access label on it? No.
    What I do resent though is how I picked this game back up again recently after several years, and what immediately struck me is how in that span of time somehow everything AND nothing has changed. Looking through past updates and guides, the developers have added, removed, and reinvented so much that very little meaningful progress has been made. There is too much development time and energy being focused specifically on countering player tactics to the point that zombies don't even act like zombies anymore, and horde night has turned into a weird game of manipulating the AI into a game of tower defense.
    The (un)Fun Pimps seem to have a very specific way they want you to play the game, at any cost to the gameplay integrity, while ultimately changing nothing. The poster child of their development "logic" is water: In the current version of the game, in what is probably the most extreme example of idealistic versus intuitive or sensible design I've personally come across, it is entirely possible for a player to dehydrate to death while swimming in a lake during rainfall. The removal of jars and drinking straight from water sources was done to make things more difficult for the player, without any consideration given to how unintuitive and stupid that is. Now the only consistent source of water is a dew collector, which requires a water filter that forces interaction with the trader system despite the fact that, logically, I should be able to craft a collector without a filter, and purify the water by boiling instead. Not only that, but the "heat" somehow generated by these noiseless, passive water collectors makes it ideal to place them away from your storage and crafting base, so as to not draw more attention than the multiple forges, campfires, and cement mixers you're already having to run to maintain your separate tower defense horde base. So the whole system comes full circle: You no longer farm jars and make runs to water sources to fill up, but make runs to built water sources that conjure filled jars.
    The developers just need to accept at some point that enough is enough, and actually progress the game's development instead of constantly reworking what already works because gamers have this frustrating habit of figuring out how to play well and win.

I keep coming back to it because of the constant evolution of the game and its mechanics. Every Alpha is like getting a new game, keeping it from getting stagnant. And if you don't like some aspects, you can always mod it. BTW, the FPs plan on going gold in the next alpha or two. They just need to finish their roadmap and have all the planned features in place. Then they will build a story and polish the F out of it.

    Here lies the issue with 7 days to die, Im speaking here having over 12,000 hrs in the game on ps4 when it released as Alpha 13 - 15/16 i believe, then after on PC playing all the overhaul mods. So i feel have the experience to say this. The issue is that the devs have done an awful job of programming the AI, Now im not saying the devs are incompetent or anything like that at all, its been a learning curve throughout the development of this game. Lets start back to alpha 13 from when i know the game, back then the AI were pretty much dumb and attacked the bases from all directions. This was the fun days of 7 days to die. over time the zombies were reprogrammed to take the path of least resistance. Then going even further, to the point where each AI calculates all health of all blocks to find the path of least resistance. This over time just made the game too predictable. To where now each update players have to find the new meta block that allows exactly the same function, for zombies to see it as a path but not actually pathable so the AI falls off. This currently removes most of the fun in the game. A little fun working out a horde base initially but that is over and done with once built then everyone back to just standing at the end of a corridor shooting one spot. Thats it, I understand fully why these changes were made, each time it was changed was to stop everyone building in a particular way, Back in alpha 14 it was to stop everyone just building pit bases. Then every update after was to change how zombies saw a particular block being used. So same with gaming as a whole and even the film industry, the more we strive to perfect films and games in graphical quality and in content, the further away from the core reason we play/watch games and films. and thats to have fun, This game and others like it will only get better and get rid of repeatability when the devs start making AI actions random in some way or at least have multiple options.
