    Good advice. I went to Iceland several years ago in mid-September. It wasn't horribly cold but there was a wind storm that lasted for two days. One day was so bad I was literally trapped in my hotel. Be prepared for wind.

    Great video very informative. My family and I - partner and 2 kids - are heading to Iceland next year in March. As a fellow Scot I thought I was made of hardy stuff, but it's 5 degrees in Glasgow now and I can only imagine it's much colder there. Better wrap up warm.

    • @IcelandFamilyLife

      Good to hear Maisha, it'll be beautiful in Feb so I hope you enjoy. I can't remember where exactly but just any outdoor clothing shop like Blacks, Tiso, Cotswold, etc.

  • @betterlifebroadcasting7547

    So what shoes would be most appropriate to wear with a dress for a nice night out? High heels? Flats? Tall dress boots? I'm going in mid October with Hubby for our 21st anniversary.

    • @IcelandFamilyLife
      @IcelandFamilyLife  Před 7 lety +1

      October tends to be just raining and windy, so any shoes are fine. It's not really cold enough for snow or ice so you'll be fine. Have a wonderful trip and Happy Anniversary when it comes

    Thanks Sonia. I was in Iceland in late November and enjoyed my time. It was our family vacation with my sisters, brothers, nieces and nephew, and of course dad (12 people!). Your video was pretty helpful and I bought a few different jackets, and of course I forget the most important one since none of my jackets were water-repellent enough and ended up buying a jacket and pants set from Iceware (never again will I forget!). One thing I want to mention is ice cleats. The cleats were very helpful when we went to see the waterfalls. Rain jacket aside, I was pretty well prepared. I'm hoping to go back again in a couple of years. :)

    • @IcelandFamilyLife
      @IcelandFamilyLife  Před 7 lety

      yes, I don't have cleats but they're a good shout, thanks for commenting!! I'm glad you all had a good time and were well prepared for the weather. 12 people, what a gang, it must have been a blast!!

    May I ask what outer layer trousers you have? or recommend? :)

    • @IcelandFamilyLife
      @IcelandFamilyLife  Před 5 lety

      I usually wear fleece lined leggings or just lycra sports leggings but if you are coming in winter (like Nov-Feb) then I would say thermals, leggings and a waterproof layer.

    • @IcelandFamilyLife
      @IcelandFamilyLife  Před 8 lety

      The temperature can be around zero in the evenings, probably not much colder, but won't go much above 6-10'c during the day. Have a great trip Linh, just layer up and bring waterproofs ;)

    • @IcelandFamilyLife
      @IcelandFamilyLife  Před 7 lety

      not sure grip wise but they will work with some good thick socks. I live in my hiking boots and snow boots, the hiking boots are useless on icy streets but the snow boots are amazing. Maybe order some of those grip things you can add to the bottom of shows, have a look on amazon - I'm sure they aren't expensive and they might be worth it.

    are the leggings something you would wear during March? Do we need snow pants?

    • @IcelandFamilyLife
      @IcelandFamilyLife  Před 6 lety

      I live in leggings, you don't really need snow pants but if you have a pair of waterproof trousers and want to bring them that might be good. Not needed though. Have a great time!!

    Hey, thank you for the Information. Can you give me a tip, if we need heavy trekking boots in summer or if trail runners are enough for the hiking activities. : ) Greets from Germany

    • @IcelandFamilyLife
      @IcelandFamilyLife  Před 8 lety

      I can still see a little snow on the top of the mountains so I'd bring hiking boots but up to you. You can just wear them on the flight though. Depends on where you plan to walk really as most paths will be fine but the general terrain can be adventurous for those ankles.

    Long underwear for men?. I am mostly concerned about walking on snowy streets. I am sure how slippery is Reykjavik in early december

    • @IcelandFamilyLife
      @IcelandFamilyLife  Před 7 lety

      I don't think there's a lot of snow on the city streets, and most streets are heated from underneath to help melt the snow. It's mostly if you're walking in the countryside but to keep warm, yes, it's a good idea.
