Fabulous French team this. Unfortunately fell foul of the West Germans in the semis of both Spain 82 and Mex 86. I have always thought it was a great pity for the World Cup in 82 that the final wasn't between Brazil and France, boy would that have been some game - Platini, Giresse, Tigana, Rochteau, Stopyra...... VS Zico, Socrates, Eder, Falcao, Junior......!!!! Heaven.
😂 dream.on for such final, the.providence knows.who.are most deserveble and stronger.to play in the final.82 86 and it.was.west germany, italy.and.argentina! and the "mighty" brazil had.to satisfied.with 5th place on both occasions and france with 4th and 3rd place.
There was something special about WC86, even the less profile matches such as this one was addictive viewing....the heat, the goals, players, commentary etc.......we were spoilt those days
This team was simply a joy to watch. How can it be that teams like Hungary in 1954, Holland in '74 & '78, Brazil in '82, and France in '82 & '86 can fail to win a coupe du monde.
This was the worst participation to Hungary in WC And this was the last match for them which was so bad....i was so sad about it However..the French players were very strong and they show us a beautiful match and the greatest goals in WC for France In the front...cooks 🇫🇷😍😍

Group E was already of no help to them whatsoever,and they would need a miraclous turn of events in one of the other groups A,B or F,involving a 6 or 7 goal mauling in one of the remaining matches and a favourable result in the other. So Hungary could get ready to follow Canada in boarding the plane home.

Sad for a traditional side like the Magyars not doing well in this World Cup. Thry had a decent '82 campaign in Spain, with the highest win ever in world competition. Hungary qualified in a decent place leading up to this. I think the heat played a factor in Hungary's poor performances here in Mexico. They looked jaded and wilted.
True,but what really undid them was their coaches misjudging the preparation for the tournament and over-training the players. That result in their astonishing fall-apart against the crack Soviet team 6-0 in their first match. That ultimately killed their hopes,though they kept themselves in contention by beating outsiders Canada in their second match.
@@rjjcms1 Absolutely true, they were ran into the ground training wise, by the time.e the France game came around, Hungary were a beaten docket, a busted flush sadly, if their goal had gone in from the crossbar shot in that French game, who knows. They lost 3- 0. The heat definitely mitigated against Hungary, as it was not as sunny, nor hot for the game against the stubborn Canadians who, it must be said, were very unlucky to lose against France. Lajos Detari was the finest long ball passer, playmaker of his generation in Europe during the 80's. A real pity, as Hungary up to the 2016 European Championships, never really hit the heights again.

mais par la force, avec cette formation où nous nous sommes présentés, nous avions quelques vestiges de la coupe du monde victorieuse en Espagne, Bearzot a emmené Rossi et Tardelli dans un "voyage premium" qu'il n'a pratiquement jamais utilisé, laissant des athlètes à domicile qui pourraient apporter un meilleur soutien, l'insertion "nouveau" rabougris qui n'est pas allé au-delà de suffisant et un gardien de but, Galli, qui était un vrai dommage pour notre défense, inséré au dernier moment à la place du bon Tancredi parce qu'il a été acheté par l'AC Milan de Berlusconi, nous a maintenus à flot le bon Altobelli avec ses buts, l'entêtement de De Napoli et parfois Conti. Après l'élimination du blues, j'ai ouvertement soutenu la France pour Michel Platini alors qu'il jouait pour ma Juventus et était le nouveau champion d'Italie ;-)))))
