  • In todays video we are carrying out EICR Remedial works and it that was all going swimmingly quite literally with the typical British weather , Then I decided to drill through my own Cables and ruin my Friday as I then had to fix my mistake and relocate the whole fuse board circuits into a new one .
Overall though leaving the job I was happy with the end finish upon me fixing it and so was the customer as there circuits are all now protected by rcbos

Just a thought, Instead of putting on a sticker that says redundant why not just take the board off? It will look much better and wont confuse the customer when a breaker trip. Keep up the good work mate

In younger days I worked on those old, smelly, terrible houses with old cables and I didn't like my job. Everything I touched or moved was just making more damage to the building. Today I work only on intercoms and access door control for big buildings/amaprtments and life is better. No more fat wires, drilling, no dust, no heavy machines... and money is at least in 3x bigger numbers.

@@AdamDunlopElectrical ok, I'm signing you up. but first you have to start with your own math, to prove yourself if I am maybe full of bullsh... Ok? You have small building lets say 30 apartments to do the job with new intercoms with one or two access door control RFID readers and 90 rfid tags. They want video handsfree units maybe Urmet, Comelit or Bticino. Now the question: What do you think how long you need to buy and install everything and how much profit you think you will take home? Do the math yourself if you have time and energy and I will correct you after that with true numbers.. That was the question that put me on the market day after I heard it and after 15y I wouldn't change my job for anything else.

Well done for sorting it, not sure what you stock on the van, but I would’ve ran some 50x50 trunking down the side of the stairs, made my connections in there and added some protection to the cables so the crap that gets shoved under the cupboard doesn’t damage them, would look much neater too

Well done Adam, its how you deal with mistakes like that which will make customers recommend you to other people, i've seen and worked with people before who would bodge it or try and charge the customer extra and make an excuse. You'll go far with it with a mentality like that.

IMHO Adam, seeing you've gone this far, I would have gone the other way and pull the Verso board, get it off the floor, and replace it with a joint box and extend the cable runs up to the old board position and put the Versi board in its place. Bit of 50x50 trunking up the angle wall. Old board gone, Verso installed in its place, everything encapsulated, as AD would say, "job's a good'n".

Mate dont like to criticise as no ones perfect but just a few thing I’m wondering
    1. Why has that spur in the bathroom not been blanked off
    2. Why leave the old board?
3 why clip the cables direct in the cupboard why not use 38x25 or 50 x 50 pvc trunking.
4 why not just put a 5 or 6 foot led batten up in the kitchen and make the joints inside would be a better all round light.
As I say not having a go just a few things I wondered but we all work different.

Its a pvc box not a bakelite kind of material. So when you want drill or fix the box it does not shatter or break. The bakelite kind of box kicks of a nasty smell and dust when drilling also.so pvc ones are alot better

    • @thereal1006

All depends on the size of the installation and how many circuits their is to test a good thorough test should take a couple of hours but you will gets sparks that would do it in half hour and not test properly

    • @AdamDunlopElectrical
      @AdamDunlopElectrical  Před 5 měsíci +1

As said below that’s the overall census of eicrs but I think generally around uk you end up around the 2/250 mark
Or if priced per board circuit then say
      board 40-60
      Circuits 10-25
I’d say they the rough prices
