My dad was fast with a belt when we did wrong. I’m older now and still appreciate the fact that he raised 5 kids and all are productive members of society
I was spanked as a child and, as a result, I suffer from common courtesy, respect for others and self discipline.
Hollywood with all of their money and influence can't produce a show as engaging and high quality as this. I never miss an episode. Thank you.
I’m 34 and I still remember the ass whoppings. Not once have I ever called it abuse, it was something me and my brother needed, we were absolute little shits
If it was working you would have quit being little shits. You proved that it doesn't work and was just your parent(s) getting emotional revenge by physically abusing you.
Love the Dougo childhood stories and the ones about Chet and his brother. So funny. I was also a child of those days of belt on butt and a hand if belt could not be found. No time outs just swift message to the tail end.
When my sisters and I would get in trouble with mom, we begged her not to tell dad. She said she wouldn't, but when we sat down for dinner she said, "Girls do you want to tell dad what you did today?" She kept her promise by making us tell on ourselves! We fell for it too, everytime!
Ah the good old days! I remember when I was 4 or 5 years old I drove my little Murray tin pedal tractor into the fresh poured feed lot concrete. Back then there wasn't readymix trucks in our area so everything was mixed in a hand mixer.
My most vivid memory of that was how fast I was removed from the area, had 3 whacks delivered and a boot to the back side while being pointed in the direction of the house! Kinda lost intrest in that pedal tractor for a few days that's for sure!
I'm right there with you Dougo.
You are not 'just farmers'. You are an American backbone! And funny as heck.
Dougo, I remember when I was a little boy living in Plano Texas, I picked the little peaches off my dad’s tree. First time he told me not to do it again, well, I did it again. I remember the sorority paddle, needless to say, I never picked the peaches again. I agree with you, it’s a very effective method of punishment, too bad it’s not used more, would probably solve a lot of today’s issues.
Couldn't count how many times I heard "wait till your father gets home!" Lol
I’m with you dougo only I m 63 and I did not have to wait for dad to get home mom was a farm girl and was quite good at giving lessons very good you remembered the lesson and I love her for each and every one god bless here I do need more of this
20:45 the best Douggo story yet- we must have had the same parents. ❤❤❤
good advice. Don't punish in anger
Im a boomer,my mom never waited for Dad. Switch of a tree, slotted spoon, shoe even stuck me with a fork at dinner table. Chased me once cut my bedroom door with a power saw. Learned lesson quickly. Of course chores doubled on the farm. Didn't hurt me a lick. Life lessons. Have a good one !
I'm 1961 vintage. There was no "wait till your dad gets home". My mom took care of business.
Have a great Labor Day weekend. Stay safe.
When I looked at the soil along the tile line, I am reminded of former Georgia peanut farmer, and US President Jimmy Carter while campaigning in Minnesota, commented that "back in Georiga we would have used this soil for fertilizer."
Thanks for another great video Chet. It was interesting and enjoyable to watch.
Busy time doing various projects.
The concrete on the new bin project is looking good. I noticed this last pour was not as smooth but I imagine the bin floor goes over it so doesn’t need to look perfect. Right???????
I see Dougo was picking up bolts and screws with a big magnet. That is a good job done. Can ruin a truck tire in a hurray-ouch!!!!!
Moving rocks is never easy. Those were some big rocks you were moving from that bin site. Wow.
Tiling is never a fun job or even less fixing a broken tile especially the old clay tiles. The old clay tiles were so easily broken again.
Wow. What a mess working with them.
About it I guess for this video. Thanks for everything Chet. You all take care.
Like those new clothes you got. Look nice whether short or long pants.
The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
We grew up like your dad did, you did it once and that was it, never to ever been done again.
ahhh the days when you were only stupid ONCE ;) well yea hahahahahaha
HAVE AN AWE SUM EVERY THING !!!!! :)
My dad was 6’4” and 280# natural Indiana farm boy. I drew pictures of our family with 4 normal stick figures and one giant one. 😂
I grew up saying “yes sir, no mam, please and thank you so I have a horrible case of responsibility. Love the channel!
That's a power screed. We had one that would span a hundred feet for warehouse slabs. Then the Lazer screed came along and that was a game changer. We used rider power trowels alot and walk behinds. I'm retired finisher great videos. Would be fun to work on a farm like yours
Great video Chet. The things that lift the rebar are called Rebar Chairs. They are very important.
Or they just have somebody pick up on it as they pour it
You might check into directional boring there are companies out there that can pull some pretty big pipe through that hill
Old school board to the correction application has always worked.
I also grew up in a patriotic home. I screwed up, and dad aliped the strips, and I saw stars. God bless
You spelt 🤡 wrong.
Carry on Guys, thank You All for Sharing !! @ 77 missing doing It !! H.
I think we were all disappointed you couldn’t get the footage lol👍🏻🇨🇦🤟🏻
I wanted to see how they got the screed arm out!
Nothing wrong with old school attitude adjustment but that's just me 👍🏻🇺🇸
Yep Dougo I remember having to go pick my own switch to get a whipping with and had to strip all the leaves in small branches off it and it better be a green one too!!!
if you cheeped out and got one that broke, it all starrted OVER AGAIN??? shudder lol
LOVE JOY COMPASSION
@@alexmikhael5061 yep !!! You know it !!! And got more licks added
Chet, you and the guys do an amazing job articulating the specifics about farming and Ag as well as anyone. Truly enjoy watching your content. My favorite part though, that Mn. accent. Calling a bin a ben makes me smile every time. I'm in the far western burbs of Chicago in farm country and they say we have accents too. LOL Cheers Team Larson
Every time Chet says ben , I think to myself it’s bin Chet B I N !!!
I wish you many years of the 30's I remember them now 38's at 81.
We were told the same thing, "when dad gets home..." We'd run and stuff our shorts with socks as soon as we heard his car rumble into the garage! 😂🤣
See the old way still works Dougo remembers still and that was a long time ago. It was always worse if you had to go pick the piece of branch of the tree! The waiting was the worst…
Hi Chet and the Larson Farm family! Bolduc is a French Canadian name and a lot of people from this family migrate in the States in the 1800's. You can pronounce it like "Bowl" and "Duke". Love your channel ! and thanks again for sharing your day to day at the farm!
I ENJOYED WATCHING THE VIDEO CHET ❤😊
I been to Montreal a few times years ago. The beer garden with rotating stage. Awesome place
I liked the childhood memories!
Dougo. Thanks for the ride along.
We used to get the razor strap. Like Dougo said you usually didn't make the same mistake again.
OMG the memoires the end of this video with u and duggo brought back to my childhood, i agree with doug caint do it outta anger and its a great way to raise kids there i said it dont like it oh well
If you would like slip on boots, I’d recommend Red Back boots from Australia, they’re the most comfortable boots I’ve ever owned, and I’ve wore boots for the last 51years.
I am amazed at how much knowledge is needed to handle chemicals. Weed or pesticides is a never ending battle.
? I have is about this new bin. How many bushels will this hold? And is this the biggest bin you will have?
There was tradition in our family way back when… when we all sat down for supper you ate what was put in front of you and there was no back talking. However my younger brother had problems with that rule. So the punishment was you got your chair turned around, we saw a lot of the back of his head! I told this story at my mother’s funeral and my little brother laughed. He died of a massive heart attack four days before Christmas in 2022. I loved him dearly, he was ornery little beggar!
Chet, have you ever tried using the water on the spray tinder to flush out the tile lines. Take the filling hose and put it in the open line and open the valves and see it that will help.
Awesome video guys. 🚜🚜🚜
Still hurts me today from the spanking (one pat on the back side) I gave my one year old, 41 years ago! But she never ever crossed me again and never got another pat on the back side!!
Hire a Surveyor to profile the land and then use a pipe laser. With backfill beneath the pipe and cover on top. Your bin floor in Pa they place heavy plastic and then the rebar set on top lifted above the bottom! This will prevent the concrete floor from sweating!
Another great video. We really enjoyed it. 👍❤️
I’m guessing the worst nightmare would be a banker driving back the the lane with the sheriff, bobcat engineer are like we built this for farmers so, great video and Thsnk you for taking the time to share
My Uncle Used to have me put rocks in the hedgerows I was his rock picker while I was growing up I loved it!
We got the belt from Dad. The switch when Grandma was visiting. Learned not to do that again! Didn't read one comment in here about being abused or beaten. God Bless America !!
Thanks for sharing, Chet. Be safe. Stay well. Victor (Arkansas)
Thanks for sharing 😊
You should give Randy the master pipe layer to fix it for you
The tricycle story was another one of Dougos top 10. My dad always said "you can learn it through your ears or I can drive it through your ars". I tried the latter many times. Like Dougo said "it's a lifetime learning experience ". Personally the metal spoon from my mom used (after so many broken wooden spoons)hurt more than my dad's hand.
You never fail to keep it interesting!
Tried to buy your sponsors product and of course out of stock. Had to put cell number in to be notified
Great video
You don’t have any channel iron on the rams on lift arms. Always got to be safe Chet. That would squash you in a heartbeat
You know why Farmers don't wear Tennis shoes????
Cuz seed corn dealers don't give them away!!!!!
😂😂😂😂
I remember the spankings very well. My dad was often gone for the whole day, well into the night. My brother and I would get in trouble and Mom would just say, "wait until Dad gets home." We would go about our whole day never thinking about it again, even go to bed. Whenever Dad got home he would come upstairs, pull us out of bed, give us a boot in the backside and say, "That's for whatever you did to make your Mom mad." and just leave. We would stand there still half asleep trying to remember what we got in trouble for so many hours earlier. Once we remembered we would go back to bed.
Tile sounds like a job for Randy the Master Pipelayer. He's not that far from you is he?
I love how you explain everything so clearly. [ 8:29 ] This was really helpful!
Wow that would be very interesting to watch . Hello Brody how is you kids and wife. We put our rocks along the creek banks or around coverts or fill a hole in. Cool like those boots . Brody and his short’s 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 that’s Brody for you.
Use pc pipe and flex type holes to connect to pipe and will bend around curves.
Good farming boys😊
Tile line cracked. Most likely because as the tile held none moving water froze in the wi nter...which will expand the concrete tile.. and most likely the first block this spring when trying to run the camra up the a busted tile that collapsed......was in tileing when i was a kid.....now retired....yay...
Hells bells that pad locks rough.
Take those boulders to Dougo. I think he and Amy need them for landscaping 👹
😂
I’ll take some 34/32 😂 My workwear somehow turned into a fashion statement/brand and costs 5X more than it used too.
As for the cement tile line, have you looked into relining. I work for the town and we have done many clay tile sewer lines. They jet them clean and put a epoxy type liner that they heat up and it forms to the pipe. Might be an option rather than digging and replacing.
Thanks
pity they coudnt pull a new poly pipe through the old concrete one but you said it's not level so never mind
Been there and got my butt beat as a kid also. Moral of the story, like Dougo said you only did it once , not like today's kids.
The bin site looks awesome as well as a massive footprint for some grain storage. I think by now, the International Space Station has your location...... Keep the vids coming, best on youtube by far.
Yeah Broodie now your starting to look like a South African farmer 🎉❤👌💯😜
Nothing wrong with a butt burn had plenty, still never learned much...Great Vid 👍👍👍👍🤣🤣
The Larson's have too much fun!
Do your lines in swaglok. I work at a chemical plant and this stuff last a long time. Very easy to install and doesn’t leak.
Great people Love the Video's
Another great video
Thanks for bringing up the good old days of growing up. You only make that mistake once in your life and learn from it.
❤ from Norway
Waving a hand from texas
---- nice ride along ---
I have watched quite a few tile lines being laid out and Wondered why Horizontal boring isn't used. Is it cost prohibitive? It seems to me that there would be less disturbance to the soil.
HDD is very expensive!!!
Great stuff guys😂😂😂😂😂
Dougo loading a dish washer in the barn crib, what a classic.
Hey where do you get your plastic spacers for your grain cart hitch’s? Our corn is doing good this year hard at running full throttle.
Maywes sells them
You deserve way more views!
Just got my second pair of boots
Awesome video. Thank you guys
good as always
Yeah spanking did teach you not to do stupid things. Dougo I know how it was my wife didn't discipline either. But she was abused by her dad. He used a 2x4 fron her knees to her shoulders for losing a math paper. Cps was involved. Don't spank when angry is the best advice.
Just call Randy the master pipe layer!!
Love watching you guys! My only comment would be...run your equipment the way it was designed to run! I've never seen a skid loader babied like that! I work heavy highway construction. I understand keeping things nice and clean! But shit, put them things to work!
Dougo I know how you feel about timeouts I totally agree they don't work. Timeouts are why we have the problems we have with the youth these days.
Father had a 80x100 shed built. Before the equipment went into the shed I got in there with my hotted up car and let rip. Needless to say Father wasn't at all happy that someone had laid rubber all over his new cement floor. He never found out who either.
That outer wall looked great but that slab work on camera at least looks like crap. Doesn't look level with outer wall at all.
New shirt. The Dougo salute
Yea I remember going out with my Dad when I was about 12 years old and help fix the tile issue we actually had a blowout of course you know why a collapsed tile and heavy rains the water just boils out and here's a big hole dig it out by hand of course all clay tiles this was 55 years ago dig back till you found good tiles in both directions replace all the broken tiles quickcrete the connections at the ends and back fill with a shovel fortunately most of the blowouts weren't to deep anyway that's my experience with tile repair as a kid and of course it was always 90 degrees out when we did it fun times!
Love the videos Chet looking forward to harvest time always great content to watch!
Quote of the day: "You better go get some sun." LOL
