Top band in the world 1973. More lps sold and gate receipts any other band that year. 130 million lps sold. Ritchie Blackmore top 3 in the world. Jon Lord best rip. Coverdale Hughes and Pace top musicians. Deep Purple.

My first ever concert was Deep Purple at Hammersmith Odeon in 1974. It was so loud, the guitar hurt my ears and the bass hurt my chest… and we were in the back row.
Richie was able to use many different scale styles and put them in one song. I don't think anybody else was doing that at least not during those times. Thank you for the reaction Rebeka, as usual I enjoyed it

By 1973, Purple had become the biggest band around. That's Glenn Hughes with the high voice. This is actually one of Blackmore's last performances before he left to form the trailblazing Rainbow. Great performance and enjoyed the reaction!

my wife of 46 years and i saw them in 1974 when we first starting dating. I had seen them in 1972 with Mach ll with child in time the encore. This was music that replace beetles, and other 60's bands, some great but then Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin hi the scene rock exploded !!!!!!!

I still listen to a lot of music. Heavy metal is my favorite. But, Deep Purple is what I listen to more than all the rest combined. lol. I continue to this day enjoying Blackmore more than any other guitarist.

Thanks very much Rebeka, Burn it's one of my favorite song from Deep Purple, I think the best they have produced in 1973, and Richie Blackmore, considered the best guitar player of all times, who really formed the band on the 70's, great producción, I love it so much, this Record is live Made in Europe where they played this extraordinary song, 1975

The lead guitarist was Ritchie Blackmore. When he left the group he formed a band called Rainbow. To sing vocals for Rainbow Blackmore got Ronnie James Dio. You should check them out. I suggest you start with "Man on the Silver Mountain".

Fantastic reaction Rebeka - so beautifully dissected and explained. It's a classic track and one of the best as a show opener! The "Live in London '74" album was a pretty awesome one, considering they were a new set-up - I remember hearing it live on the radio back in 1974 and it's still one of my favourites! If you enjoyed the guitar work on this one then I would suggest having a listen to "You Fool No One (Live in London)" as Ritchie was on fire that night and created an unbelievable piece of improvisation - followed by an amazing solo. The track is a little long as there is also a drum solo to finish it off - but well worth a listen!

💚You'd never notice unless you had all the CDs / bootlegs, but someone has expertly woven together a version of Burn from Kilbum '74 and Paris '75, set to visuals from Hammersmith '74 - and there may be parts from other sets, like Cal Jam '74. As I said, someone did an expert job. Now that Lewisham '74's available, you could make a triple set of all the London '74 shows.💙
You're right. The description on this particular video is a compilation of several concerts. And the Paris concert was released as the massively edited Made in Europe album (as far as I know). Even so, it's still one of my favorite Deep Purple albums. This person also has a concert video of Deep Purple in Japan (1975 Come Taste the Band Tour). The audio doesn't quite match up the video but it's apparently the only decent concert footage of them with this lineup (Tommy Bolin).
@@jamesharper3933: Am with you 100% on Made in Europe - what a brilliant album. But apparently most of it comes from Saarbrucken, with Graz and Paris parts included too. Blackmore's frantic second solo in You Fool No One is definitely from Paris. Why more from Saarbrucken hasn't been released, I don't know. Re. Mk4, I think I've seen that video. Some of the best bootlegs are from Australia and New Zealand, as Wild Dogs was still in the set. Peace!
What else to say about such an amazing performance like this one? When it's said that Deep Purple was by the 70's and is one of the most important bands in Rock History, this is what we're talking about!

But, excuse me, it's nearly a crime analysing this video and not saying anything about one more great, awesome performance of one of the greatest keyboardists in Rock History, Jon Lord! (R.I.P.)! Glenn Hughes screams almost like Ian Gillan those days. I have a Deep Purple - Live in London lp-record which was released 1982 but that is from the different concert, it is from their Gaument State Theatre Kilburn concert. Probably from the same tour I guess.
Hughes is a far cry from Gillan, voice wise!

Hi Rebeka, here are a couple of fun facts for you. The sound during Deep Purple‘s '72 concert at London's Rainbow Theatre hit 117 decibels. I've read it was so loud that three people in the audience became unconscious from the noise. The current world record holders are supposedly Kiss, who reached a 136 decibels during a concert in Canada in '09. Their name was inspired by a1933 song of the same name composed by Peter DeRose, which was the favorite song of Ritchie Blackmore‘s grandmother.

You should listen to fools live at Monterey jazz festival 2000 ...
Glenn Hughes (bass) was in Deep Purple from 1974 to 1976... he is a lead singer as well in the 70's band Trapeze. He struggled for years w/ drug and alcohol abuse after '76, but eventually recovered and has been busy w/ solo albums... numerous projects like Black Country Communion (w/ guitarist Joe Bonamassa), etc.
In 1986, Glenn Hughes did lead vocals for 1 Black Sabbath album ('Seventh Star') which was great... but his addictions got him ousted soon after for poor live performances.

Purple. I have been a fan since 1969. This track was the title track of the first album with Dave Coverdale and Glenn Hughes replacing Ian Gillan and Roger Glover. Like many fans I was a bit worried who was going to replace the iconic Ian Gillan and Roger Glover....but all my worries were unfounded. I was blown away hearing Burn for this first time in 1974....and still am today.

Great choice! Glenn can really pierce the sky with those high notes, and the guitars always rock the house...but if you are interested in something mellow and dark with the same title, try Burn by The Cure...It's from the movie soundtrack to The Crow...a gothic 90's comic book adaptation starring Brandon Lee, the son of Bruce Lee...who also tragically died on the set when a dummy handgun round (a bullet without any gunpowder, used for camera shots of a loaded gun) had the bullet tip lodge in the gun, then when the gun was fired with a blank round (Gunpowder but no bullet), it projected the stuck bullet into Brandon's chest and killed him (At least as far as we know)...it's a crazy story, and The Cure's, Burn is basically the movie's theme song...

I had the Burn album on 8-track back in 1973! LOL! They didn't miss a beat after changing the bass player & lead singer. Trapeze missed Glenn Hughes! David Coverdale, the lead singer, went on to form Whitesnake. Nice to see you enjoying music I have for 5 decades! Ritchie Blackmore is the guitar player. Glenn Hughes, the bass player sang the really high parts!

First, I have to tell you that my favorite musical genres are HARD ROCK/METAL and CLASSICAL MUSIC.
Well, I wanted to make you a recommendation:
Since you are very young, I want to recommend a song from 1985 (I'm sure that in that year you weren't even a little person project). I'll tell you a little bit:
HEAR N'AID - "STARS"
The Hear n' Aid project was metal's response to pop music charities such as Band Aid and USA For Africa; whose organizers had not invited anyone from hard rock/metal (as alppears like this (and you can check it by watching the video)
Hear n' Aid was founded in 1985 by Ronnie James Dio, a long-time contributor to numerous charitable projects over the years. Hear n' Aid didn't get much media coverage and didn't achieve box office sales like Band Aid or USA for Africa, but it generated a respectable amount of revenue.
Ronnie James Dio (Dio/Black Sabbath/Rainbow/Elf), Jimmy Bain (Dio/Rainbow) and Vivian Campbell (Dio/Def Leppard) were responsibles for writing "Stars", the single originally written that would help generate income for the hunger.
In May 1985, Dio gathered more than 40 hard rock/metal musicians from around the world, and they recorded the song "Stars."

- 5th solo in 4 parts: George Lynch/Carlos Cavazo/George Lynch/Carlos Cavazo (from the bands Dokken/Quiet Riot)
- 6th solo in 2 parts: Brad Gillis, Craig Goldy (from the bands Night Ranger, Giuffria)
- 7th solo: Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser (from the band Blue Oyster Cult) Last solo and Outro of this part.
All of the melodic guitars (or rhythm guitars) lines were performed by Adrian Smith and Dave Murray (both from Iron Maiden).

Drums: Vinny Appice (from Dio)
Keyboards: Claude Schnell (from Dio)
This song has the great advantage that, by having numerous singers and guitarists, all of them of very high level, it will allow you to decide if any of them deserve to be heard with their respective bands. This is the song that I always recommend to get started in the world of hard rock/metal.

This song is a "kind of summary" of the hard rock/metal of the first half of the 80s

A great song by deep purple mark III. Purple almost never is recognized as one of the greatest. The holy trilogy of the early 70's
Zeppelin. More bluesy.folk and rock/hard rock

I don't think anything Blackmore played on this video synced up to the audio. Which may actually be Blackmore's doing as he didn't want anyone filming him playing because he believed it gave away his "secrets".
Blackmore had (has?) a reputation for being a prankster who takes the joke way too far, creating tension issues in whatever band he is with. One of his more notorious stunts happened when he was with Rainbow. He had the door to his keyboard player's hotel room bricked up, essentially sealing him in. Took some time to get him out of there and that gag along with others made for a lot of bad juju between the two.
