    I have tried using acrylic paint on aluminum foil,but once dry the paint flaked off. Your video made me think of trying mono printing on metallic paint. Thanks for sparking an idea!

      Yes this would only really work with none water based paint or ink. It is worth experimenting with. Thanks for watching.

    Very interesting !!! Normally, I am not so fond of metallic inserts, but this composition is really elegant !

      Thank you very much! It is easy to overdo this but I think applying oil paint over the foil can work.

    The apparent ease with which you make these beautiful pieces, belies all the time and effort you've invested over the years. Thanks so much for helping all off us shave the learning curve. I put all these techniques into my toolbox and into my design sense.

      Thank you very much! I always like to hear from those who have been inspired by the demos, it's good to inspire creativity in others, hope you get some good results if you try this. Thanks for watching.

    I like the dense darks against the wide white matte. Thank you for slanting the print so we can see the reflective foil areas. Intriguing combination for a black and white print.

      Thanks, this was a tricky one to film because of the foil but it is worth trying, it will be something that I will continue to experiment with.

    This is pretty freakin creative. I love the reductive possibilities involved with the foil. Gold leaf would probably work well as well. Thanks for yet another artistic idea Dan!

    • @DanTirels
      @DanTirels  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes this would work with different colours of foil although it is important to use the right glue or the foil just peels off. I used PVA for this because the foil had paper on the reverse.

      Thanks, this is a good one to experiment with. Easy to go overboard with the foil so try to use a little, I was surprised how this worked and will use this technique again.

      @@DanTirels I've printed some of my images on gold inkjet paper in the past. With the right image, they can look amzing, almost 3-D. I was wondering what gold foil would be like with monoprint work. For one thing, it would look warmer. You could use blue and get an icy result, with the right artwork. I'm going to experiment. Thank you Dan.

      @@gordonjackson2655 This method is very satisfying and it has ts of potential to explore, it could even work on ideas for sculpture. Endless possibilities.

    Very cool technique! Does the oil eventually dry on the aluminium foil, and did you glue the paper on the aluminium foil to stick it on the surface.

    • @DanTirels
      @DanTirels  Před 3 lety

      The paint on the foil will take longer to dry, usually about 4 days. The paint on the paper will dry in 24hrs. Use cement glue to stick down the foil. (NOT PVA)

      The foil I use here is just ordinary wrapping paper, you could also use tin foil (the type used in cooking) This will work with the PVA glue that I use. Do not use the plastic foil as this will not stick. Hope this helps.
