Red Hawks actually did at one time have a Wikipedia entry. I know this because that’s how I found out it was a Korean film when I first looked it up after purchasing the VHS at a thrift store years ago. But after looking for it again it seems that it was deleted for some strange reason...
Notability, most likely. Which is nuts, if it IS the first Korean animated film to be dubbed into English and distributed in the West, THAT IS NOTABLE. Gheesh.
Meanwhile, here are a few Wikipedia entries that ARE notable enough to keep. * Glass Joe, recurring Punch Out!! character. * Bat'leth, a.k.a. the Klingon sword. ("Note the replica of the 'Sword of Kahless,'" says the photo caption. WAS THERE AN ORIGINAL!?) * The Noid, long-defunct Domino's Pizza mascot of the '80s. * Pegging. * The Dazzler, disco-themed Marvel superhero. (And holy shit is that entry thorough.) * Pocky. (Though it's needed additional citations for verification since 2012.)
I swear, this anime is almost beat-for-beat Samurai Champloo. Weird-looking guy is eating at an establishment when a ruffian hassles the waitress, weird-looking guy is about to handle the ruffian when a quiet, mysterious stranger steps in and initiates the fight, but the restaurant is smashed up, anyway. The girl then decides to follow the two people to find the person who killed her parents. Change up a few details in both shows, but the overall plot fits neatly either way. Even to the point of Steve Blum playing the weird-looking guy in both shows. That's hilarious.
It should be noted that up until recently, which still lingers in some today, South Korea had A LOT of bad blood with Japan, predating WWII, but especially from it. That being said, it makes some sense that South Korean studios would rather rip-off Japan rather then touch them with a ten mile pole.
That music from 4:31 is actually from Magnetic Rose originally, three years before Bebop. Go to the first SOS scene and be amazed. But if Red Hawk also came out in '95, where's it originally ORIGINALLY from?
I REALLY wish I could remember the movie (?) where the mysterious hero who appears out of nowhere and the bumbling town goof who looks exactly like the mysterious hero and runs off when danger appears... are actually two completely different people. I mean from what I recall the goof actually runs to go get hero but they dont tell you that until the end.
The thumbnails are sometimes my favorite part of Sage’s videos...even a lot of videos I watched was purely because of the thumbnail...(including this video)

Holy Shit Bennett ! I used to watch you on channel awesome, this is the first video of your that i saw on youtube. it was very funny and you look fantastic!
Please review Protector of Universe 2:40. I’ve wanted you to for a long time now. That movie was my childhood. Whether or not that’s a good thing is still debatable for me.

That shit crazy I’ve been looking for this anime for years I saw It a long time ago when I was either 4 or 5 years old thanks to you I can finally watch it again
I saw this movie a few hours ago. I thought it was... Alright. Nothing fantastic, but not horrible either. Hey, Sage. While you're on the subject of Korean anime, you should review the Korean Street Fighter anime movie. It came out in 1992, which was two years before "Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie". Its a VERY bizarre film. But unlike the 1994 animated movie which was an official licensed product, this Korean knock off is unofficial since Capcom never authorized it. And I'd like to see you do that movie justice. I don't know where you can find a physical copy of it anywhere. But its on CZcams.
thank you for the closure, what the info I got about this anime was from either an old VIZ video, Manga entertainment, or Manga Corps dvd & no trailer to show for it,
The scene at the restaurant plus the heroine wanting to meet a mysterious man that she feels she owes her life too ( that doesn’t smell of sunflowers) and Sage saying there were more connections to Cowboy Bebop made me think it was a Samurai Champloo rip-off until I remember this is almost a solid decade before it even airs.
Can someone help me find an anime movie I saw when I was a child, were the main character hair changes to red when he gets angry and in the final part of the movie it changes sliver when he powers up again to be the villian.
So I gotta ask... Is Gabe looking like Seamus from Family Guy except with 2 eye patches now, did you leave him as a stump, or put out of his misery, because we don't(or at least I) don't see him in the videos anymore, or anyone really, which were some of my favorite parts of your videos, the interaction between you all was good.

2:10 To be fair to Korean authorities, they had very good reason to be mistrusting of Japanese media, having been occupied by Japan for decades, and forced to teach an entirely fictionalized pro-Japan history in their public schools. Japan's propaganda didn't just stop there. Many forms of media were rounded up and burned by Japanese forces, to be replaced with pro-Japanese re-education material. Not exactly an honorable point in Japan's history..

I cannot imagine what kind of spot the localization team found themselves in, that they had to throw their hands up and have Blum read, "Meatbuns, BOI!"
Blum is ass in MOST of his roles, this is why I don't get why he gets so much cred, in fact MOST anime voice actors are ass... most. Line deliveries always sound forced and ameuterish, most of the time you talkshouting for example (worst thing in terible acting)
