How to make a circle cutting jig. Things you will need 1. Circle cutting jig
One of my favorite channels, this guy is a legend... keep doing you
You never cease to be hilarious. Your deadpan humor is impeccable.
Hooking the cord on the ceiling hook is genius. Subscribed!
I love your delivery. Yes the tutorial was also perfect. Thank you.
Appreciate the extra videos while so many of us are stuck at home!
Love your work! Most entertaining woodworker ever!
I'm used to larger, corded routers czcams.com/users/postUgkxfQ5_mgwq6PcudJvAH25t-I4D-3cTPz4z so this was a different experience for me. Basically, this is an incredibly sweet machine, fits well in the hand, etc. It has slightly less power than I'm used to, but that's understandable. Maneuvering freehand takes some practice. These days, it's especially nice to be able to avoid power cords. This is above the level of a hobbyist but below a pro level.
You always crack me up. Thanks for making my day lighter.. Btw. Love the way you rolled out our perfect circle at the end.
That's genius. Great video, perfect for what I needed and like your style! Cheers dude.
Its amazing that some of the simplest ideas, really are genius. Not only is the jigsaw/flush trim bit a smarter idea, its really safer so you don't have large chunks of table falling down if you use the initial router all the way through. I love your videos my friend.
Fantastic intro! Also that oscillating bench sander is a thing of beauty.
Jason you are a complete genius! You are a true inspiration to all of us woodworkers.
Geoffrey Leatherman 🙄
This was exactly what I was looking for! Even with your goofy persona, you were able to include all of these useful nuggets of information that I think are gray and not seen anywhere else.
Brilliant video and a great idea regarding cutting circle out bigger than size required with jigsaw, then using router to finish off. Love watching your videos. Great tips and tricks. Keep up the good work.👍👌
Twas indeed a high quality and entertaining video.
Brill. Great video. Thanks.
Fantastic video.
Thank You.
yay very nice work
Thank you for showing that flush cut method at work, I was thinking of doing that myself as only my flush cut bit is designed to work with my 1.5" birch
No wonder I can't find any of these at big box stores either, they're too simple to just build XD
dope video.
Great stuff
Damn, I just discovered how to cut a perfect circle for the nesting of the Kamado Joe II outdoor grilling station. On back order for 6 weeks. So I should have plenty of time to make it, if that pesky bottle of Evan Williams stays on the shelf. Thanks!
Female in woodworking here. Gotta say, I just enjoy your videos thoroughly. Got into woodworking through my dad and maternal grandfather, but I’ve learned so much from the content you post, and the humor and attitude you have…your narration is endlessly entertaining.
Yep. Pretty jig indeed
*I absolutely love this tool!!! The first one was defective and Dewalt replaced **MyBest.Tools** More bulky than the Bosch and Makita corded palm routers I have but worth it. Nice solid base*
Great I can use this to make bench for weber kettle
Nice job....
Oh yesss. thanks
Nice table top
Oh man, Grizzly, Festool... oh my goodness... I hate you so much 😂 I start one video and cannot stop watching, I think I watched about 8 one after another. Amazing craftsmanship, you are such an inspiration. I really appreciate you. Learned a lot from you. Thank you!
HaHa. Love your ending style! Great Vid as well!
If you don't have the rockler jig to base off of, how do you make the slots in the middle and what not to determine the circle size? Also how long should the jig be?
Great video! Does anyone know if you can buy that T bolt with the insert pins separately?
Nooice!
5:10 I was thinking of doing one pass with the circle jig and then use a jigsaw to cut the rest. Boy was I wrong. You must have an amazing blade that's super sharp. And not nearly as thick as what I was dealing with. There was no way I was gonna cut through 3 inches of wood. 1 layer of 3/4" MDF and 4 layers of 2 different kinds of plywood. I just wish my spiral bit I bought was 2 or 3 inches long instead of only 1. As I could only cut 2 layers at a time. Plus NOT going the jigsaw route I didn't have to set up my router with a flush trim bit.
What bit did you use to cut the wood with?
Great video. A few questions if you don’t mind: Did you flip the table to have finish side up when you used the flush trim bit? Can you please explain which surface was up when using the jig and then for final routing? Did you use the same bit with the jig or something else?
I know this question was posted a long time ago but if you're still curious, the finish side was up when using the flush trim bit. Originally the finish side is down so that the pin stuck in the wood is on the bottom. Also it's not the same bit for the initial cut. That's just a simple spiral bit without a flush trim bearing on it.
What is your go to spiral bit brand? I’ve bought a few off amazon with the best reviews and they never last.
I soo hate getting a splinter in my thingy!
thanks bro cool video but you loco
A square table the same width as a round table has more surface area. You give up table top space on a round table. Learned that doing college homework on my round breakfast table even though it is intuitively obvious. Never enough room for books, tools, notes, and the other things on the round table.
So when you measure for the bit to your pivot point on the jig do you measure from the center of the bit?
depends on what you need, whether the router bit needs to go outside or inside the circle. the bit's width should always be kept in mind.
He kept saying table top, and that couldn't be further from what I need. I need a circle jig to cut out 60in wooden wheels. Thanks for the tips.
So in order to make a diy jig Im must already have a jig
I see you did the flush cut with the compact router and not the full size. Do you think that dewalt compact router has the power to do the initial cut too?
connerca14 for sure 👍🏻
Thanks this is just the question I was looking for - as I work on the tambour white oak table based on his video! 🥹
3:25 I wonder why there is this cut down the middle on the rig you are going to 'duplicate'?
I have been meaning to make one of these for about a year now. Yup still meaning to😂
Wake me when deadliest catch is on.
That was Awesome 👌,
Question: I need a 10 inch circle, Do I divide by half and cut at 5 inch?
It makes sense, but I feel like I'm missing something, because I did and my circle came up way short of expectations. So maybe you could go over the math for us idiots 🤔
From the center of the pivot point of your jig to the closest edge of the router bit should be half the size of the circle you want to make. If your circle is 30 inches, it should be 15 inches from pivot point to closest edge of router bit.
@@smugegeez1406 thanks for the info 👍
If I had a jig I wouldn't be here.
eye candy
You drilled into your table
from the bottom and not all the way through. The top has no hole in it.
It's a sacrifice table, its meant to be done that way.
Don't enable my CZcams binge sessions like that! I can find your videos without you having to embed them all suggestively.
54 inch circle for his 54 inch speakers. yep
So we need a jig to trace so we can make our own?? ok....
step One is first buy a circle cutting jig
I’m not at all sure I understand why one pass with the router plus one pass with the jig saw plus one pass with the router is better than just 3 passes with the router.
“One plus one plus two plus one plus one!”
could be that the router bits aren't long enough, could be that the saw is faster and CAN be used in this stage without ruining anything.
@@MihkelLember I spose the length of the router bit is a possibility. I guess I’d figure a man with a couple grand worth of red aluminum on the wall could sort out a longer bit. I personally have two router bits with 2.5 inch blades one with the ball bearing at the top and one at the bottom. I think maybe he was just showing off his Festool jigsaw.
If it has to be explained to you, you probably still wouldn't understand.
@@stallionranchwoodworks that’s what I told my wife one time and now we’ve three kids…sooo you could give the old college try? I’m not as dim as I look, my daddy said so.
@@stallionranchwoodworks yuns really wanna impress show us your homemade chassis for holding your sander so you don’t foul up the squareness of the edge of the table. I worked in a cabinet/furniture shop for roughly a decade one of the crusty old mean bastards who was trusted with the proper expensive jobs made this awesome set up that allowed him to sand his way to the final dimension desired.
This time I will do it manually with the help of Woodprix designs.
I love your videos, and this was good... but the 'how to make a circle jig' was really a 'how to use your circle jig as a template to create a second circle jig'... you did cover in the voice over the options available but without the jig already, this instructional video doesn't really assist everyone. I mean don't get me wrong I am a loyal subscriber and will continue to follow as I think your work and delivery is great. Also I know you could just sit the router on the 'new jig' and mark out the holes with a pencil etc... it's not rocket science... but for those with limited experience like I once was, this may have left them still scratching their heads.
Woodglut has a lot of plans to choose from.
There is something for everyone on Stodoys website.
i bet you $500,000,000,000,000,000
the forstner bit is not perfectly centered within those four screw holes…..
Thousands of lifetime projects with Stodoys plans.
I will try to do it with woodglut plans.
