Hot, Hot, HOTTTTT! This is probably the scene that got the Bond producers to offer Dr. No to Cary first. And to think that he did it with his suit and tie on! But you gotta give props to Hitch primarily because he set the scene and always knew how to slip the sex past the censors.
…..this scene is only 3 minutes and has my jaw on the floor! WTFFFFF?!!!!! Romance isn’t what it was like back then! Why don’t men and woman talk to each other like this when they’re falling in love?!!!! Seriously!
Truffaut said Hitchcock, "Shot a love scene like it's a murder and shot a murder like it's a love scene". That aesthetic shows in the placement of Grant's hands at 0:55 as he kisses Saint just as she's saying "You may be planning to murder me"- almost as if he's about to strangle her. Clever stuff.
I had the pleasure of working with Eva Marie Saint, as a actor in Hollywood near the end of her career, and she was a gentle, sweet, caring lady. She had this wonderful way about her of including you in her life. Also, an enormous talent... Hollywood could take a lesson.
Thank you for giving us insight into Ms. Saint's personality and character. Would love to hear more about the project you worked on together. I know 100 is just a number, but I was smiling all day yesterday knowing she reached this milestone. She seems to have embraced every phase of both her personal and professional life. So grateful to be able to see her career unfold before my eyes given the treasure trove of videos on line, not to mention all of her films and interviews on TCM...not surprisingly, she is their "Star of the Month."
InI 3237, Many thanks for your thoughtful note. I worked with Eva Marie on the TV series, Moonlighting", as an actor. She was so kind, as when I came onto the set during rehearsal, she smiled and gestured to me, and made me relax and feel part of the scene. Just a lovely lady. Afterwards, we kept in touch by letters. Once again, thank you for your note, it was very well said. A million best wishes.
@@BeauDare-ov7py I just found out she was on Moonlighting and hope I can find clips on CZcams. How wonderful for you! I so admire anyone for whom no one is invisible, let alone someone of Ms. Saint's stature. So glad you were the recipient of her graciousness. Given her humility and her genuine affection for her fellow actors, I imagine she enjoyed her encounter with you as much as you did with her. Hope you saved those letters!
@InI3237, Thanks again for your perceptive note. It made my day. Indeed, I have kept those letters. Eva Marie was a kind, gracious individual. Very rare in Hollywood. All best to you.
Gotta love when Hitchcock once again fills a love scene with tones of dialogue about killing once again illustrating that as in "La Petite Mort" sex and killing both extend from a common repressed desire.
My favorite Hitchcock. Still, would love to have seen Sean Connery doing this scene. He wasn't as "cutesy" as Grant, but just as smooth, and far more masculine- in fact this scene in "From Russia With Love" is used for every 007 audition: czcams.com/video/LQJAFsRa8OQ/video.html

This is what love is about. Things were simple back then and not complicated.
Sheer class. Hitchcock was a genius. Grant and Eva Marie had great chemistry 😍
This girl and the way she talks😘
Watched this film for the first time the other night and was enamoured with this scene 😍
I love all the sexual innuendos in this scene without the graphic sex...
Composer Bernard Herrmann completed the effect of this scene!
one hot scene For all times for eternity.....
this scene is very beautiful
The MAGNIFICENT SOUNDTRACK by the one & only Bernard Hermann is ETERNALLY EXQUISITE. Absolutely HEAVENLY.

Arousing the woman's neck, her jawline...and that area right underneath their jawline.

Sexiest scene in all of movie history.

Totally...
Although I always expect a 5th hand to somehow pop up out of nowhere.
Oh... Cary Grant where are you? Why are there NO men that look like and dress like Cary Grant? Men dress like boys and they act like silly children.
Liberalism and feminism can be thanked for that.
I am a fan of Eva Marie Saint and Cary Grant thanks
This is hot beyond belief! Love Cary 👌
My favorite scene ever !!!!
It's a tie between this scene and the extended phone kiss between Grant and Bergman in Hitchcock's "Notorious."
Hah,,,,,,sex without nudity; how quaint. Hitchcock; genius.....
Fabulous picture
It's certainly way up there. Edie Doyle, five years after Terry.
Greatest on screen kiss I have ever experienced.
Cary Grant certainly goes to "the right places" so HOT
Love the music!

“Your the smartest girl I ever spent the night with on a train”……..

Sean Connery was far too Masculine and sadistic to be able to do a Cary Grant, both were very charming men though.
That is not Janet Lee, Jamie's mother - that is Eva St Marie 🤷🏼♀️
