I can see where you're coming from but instead of changing the melody they build on it. The song is layered with pretty harmonies and the tune does develop. But at the end of the day, personal opinion :)

@hoohoo2you2 i was wondering about the same thing in the other "eighteen" video. well this looks like a recording anyway, but maybe it's implied one of them is stepping on the tambourine.. very nice band of course.
It is. In other videos of them playing it shows him using it with his foot. So you are correct.
