I face the same problem Rhodesians used to face: being called a racist as well being afraid to lose my homeland to a third world country made by the native tribes, all due to my nationality. I'm sorry that my country didn't side with Rhodesia, but we really needed the international support. I'm not fully sure I'm on the Rhodesian side, but Rhodesia seems to be much better than Zimbabwe.

@@piewstew22 Fun fact: I hold a lecture about the Rhodesian Bush War today in class
As far as I can remember (from my old alzheimer brain tissue) is that the United States itself did not supported Rhodesia atleast after its unilateral independence declaration
The UN supported Britians saying that they wont recognize Rhodesia as an own state
      Massive L to the UN
Britian then sanctioned Rhodesia what caused Rhodesia was lacking of modern equipment
But who needs modern equipment if you have a FN FAL??
I appreaciate every correction as Iam feared of to tell any misinformations but this is what I can remember

The racisim card was the political tool used by it's political opponents to bring a wealthy young country under subdegation because is was growing so rich and powerful so quickly. You are correct when you say the Rhodesian dollar was stronger than the British pound and the American dollar in the late 1960's, that was a problem for the rest of the world. How do you control a country that is doing better in every area of life and" change their political clout" Start a war on the inside. A house divided against it's self can't stand. Now that Zimbabwe has gone to rack and ruin the rest of the political world couldn't care less. The so called "help" the rest of the political world felt it did,,,,,,,,,,,, has now left it poor beyond belief and staving to death. I grew up in Zimbabwe.

It’s understandable at the least, justified or not, they were fighting for the survival(in the sense of remaining) of Their society and people. Ian Smith himself and a good amount of other Rhodesians probably weren’t even racist as South Africa was, apparently they just wanted to give education to the Africans, and all the tools needed to run a successful nation state.
Given what happened post Rhodesia under Mugabe, they weren’t really wrong in that it’d go to shit.
