Recorded during a concert of Andy Cutting in Kingston, Kent on 23rd November 2014 organised by Folk In The Barn. www.andy-cutting.co.uk www.folkinthebarn.co.uk
I first learned 'Flatworld' ages ago, I was told at the time it was a traditional French musette waltz and believed it - I played it for years before I found out it was actually written by an Englishman, the incomparable Andy Cutting!
My dear late Anne O,Brien ( Fiddle and Concertina ) had played with Andy Cutting with Chris woods at our home many years ago at some of our garden parties, " thank you Andy for being there "
This must be the definitive recording of this one. Mr Cutting is a real maestro. Warm regards and sincere thanks for all your wonderful posts, Mattias.
Thanks so much for your posts of this gig. I went to Andy Cutting's gig at the Elsted Inn in Hants and it's lovely to be able to hear more of his wonderful playing.
I was at a friends Wedding anniversary do, in a Schloß in Germany, with a medieval theme. They had a harpist playing traditional medieval type stuff. On his short break, I asked him if he new any Andy Cutting, to which he replied "Ja, Fletvurled." 😂🤣(say it in a German accent in your head😂). At which point he proceeded to play a most lilting and haunting rendition of Flatworld. It was beautiful. I used to play in a band, where this was played on the hammer dulcimer, which was simply awesome.
der anfang von in Continental mood ist so unfassbar genial. eigentlich geschieht nicht viel. aber das was geschieht ist besonders. das stück begleitet mich immer wieder und immer wieder hol ich es hervor um es mir anzuhören. wunderbar
I find so many of Andy's tunes painfully beautiful. So much so that I have to save listening to them for times when I can handle the emotion.
equivalent to an hour of meditation, any day!
Yep!

This has to be one of my favourite tunes ever...
Hi from Hank Hogan now in California
This must be the definitive recording of this one. Mr Cutting is a real maestro. Warm regards and sincere thanks for all your wonderful posts, Mattias.
Very fine, light, airy, flying tune... Easy and touching...
Reminds me of the old days at St. Chartier, playing with Chris and Andy...
What a player
Legend

The 'box' is not capable of sounding like that. Hang on, I just heard it! There's only one AC...
Absolutely sublime, but the person responsible for the camera focus sounds at 0:08 and 0:23 needs to reflect on their life choices imo
murder the cougher at 3:02
Tragically, we've all done it. Nothing more embarrassing...
