    Hello Miss Lady, Thank you so much for sharing. This video is the first one I've watched of you and will watch all of your other ones. It was very informative. I want to first say, "Thank you" so much for answering all of the questions. You are the only person I know that have taken the time to reply to ALL OF THE QUESTIONS. Not that there aren't any others, however, I've never ran into to them and I live on youtube. So thank you so much. I always read all the questions first before asking mine just in case the answer is in one of them. I am a new Wedding and Event Designer, been helping people with their events for years and now I've made my passion into a business. I have a few questions for now and will read the FULL-LENGTH video soon along with all your other videos. 1) from the initial Party Questionnaire email, what length of time do you give your potential clients to give you the deposit? 2) Is your deposit a non-refundable deposit? 3) If they cancel, do you keep the deposit or a portion thereof or do they have a time limit to cancel by like within 48-72 hours after signing the contract? (of course I have a host of other questions but will wait to view your other videos) Thank you for your time.

      I'm so glad you found it helpful! Really you can start with very little. The cost of doing some faux shoots, printing cards, and building your website is all you really need. You can get started for really a couple hundred dollars. I started my business with my computer, phone, and camera and built a website and marketed my services! If you are going in to business with your friends it's great because you can split the cost and responsibility. There will be some exciting things coming about on the channel, so I'm so glad you'll be sticking around! â€đŸ€—

    • @BashBesties
      @BashBesties  Pƙed 3 lety +1

      So that’s why I like an upfront questionnaire. This give you time to do some online research before speaking with the customer. There’s times I’ve got an event request and looked at the venue and was like nope it was going to be a disaster to setup. For instance, I will not setup in hotel rooms...only ground level event spaces.
      In any case, I would probably check out some of your local venues on your free time too, if there are some pretty popular ones around you. Just so you have an idea of local spaces.
      Remember to remind clients this is tentative based off of the present information at hand and things could change and need to be adjusted. If they have a specific venue that will require full transformation request that they need to schedule you for a venue consultation and you’ll provide an estimate post-visit. Then the consultation fee will be credited to their total cost in the end if they book. 😊

      Thanks hun! So, I usually keep everything and add it into my inventory. Custom items for sure can be kept by client because they can’t be reused of course. I also leave balloon garlands most of the time, sometimes clients want me to take them back though surprisingly. If it’s a large rental that would definitely be picked up later in the day or the following day....My company usually provides entertainment though as well. So lots of times we just clean up at the end of our service time since we’re leaving and the party is generally over by that time and exit with everything we brought at that time. 💕

I collect remaining balance a week before when I send out my final documents and confirmations, normally people do it around 2 weeks prior as a safeguard. Some choose to accept it day of or even spread it into a multiple payment plan. It's just what you prefer and what works best to operate your business! ❀ God Bless you as well! đŸ€—

      Aww I'm so glad! That's great yes we have a similar business model then. I have never experienced unpleasant clients, thank God, but there is some clients who become a little relaxed about paying their balance all of a sudden if you know what I mean. I learned that the hard way and so do most planners. You want to make sure your clients pay their remaining balance before the start of the party. Some planners require 14 days in advance. I do both, bust mostly I receive clients who host their events in their home. ❀

      Hello and thank you! So, Google Search relies on having a strong presence online. So you have to create a website and work on your SEO to rank. You do have to get a DBA if you are operating your business under a different name than your own name. I get probably 95% of my bookings from clients finding me in Google and the other 5% on Yelp. So, I strongly believe in starting with building your businesses online presence!

      Sometimes, I usually do smaller parties so I bring my own to save a little coin and increase profits. Bigger parties I’d rent or if specialty tables are needed.

      Congratulations! I’m always recommend building a website when you start your business even if you don’t have customers yet, even if it’s something basic. This is because it immediately puts you in Google’s database to start building your authority on the internet. This is important because basically it helps Google refer you to people looking for services in your area. Of course they way Instagram works now, there are many people that just thrive and receive all their business through there, but I always still think it’s a good practice to have a place where people can click and get more information about you! 💕

      @BashBesties  Pƙed 5 lety +1

      Oh that can be difficult! Maybe you can use the US Amazon site, not sure how bad the shipping prices would be though. Thank you so much for watching! I always recommend starting a bit under market rates, not substantially so that you don’t have enough to complete the event obviously. Just low enough that if you don’t have a portfolio yet that someone would give you a chance if they’re on a budget. If you have a portfolio I’d say start exactly at the rate of your competitors in your area then go up as you improve! 💕

    • @BashBesties
      @BashBesties  Pƙed 3 lety +2

      Hey hun, so there’s no trade schools really available for being an event planner! Crazy huh? Usually only online private courses or sometimes schools will offer a hospitality degree with a specialization in it. I went to college for business and fashion merchandising and I have my cosmetology license as well. I started out doing spa parties at first and then expanded to event planning in general, so I learned everything from research and experience of running my own business.💕

    Starting a home based wedding planner business looking for price lists not sure of doing hourly or flat fee

    • @BashBesties
      @BashBesties  Pƙed 4 lety +1

      I always like a flat fee in the beginning because it helps clients feel secure in what they have to pay and you know exactly how much you’re getting paid. However, with wedding planning that can entail a lot of additional hours than other events so hourly can be beneficial. Why not a combination of both. Set a flat fee and if you plan over a certain number of hours and hourly rate incurs on top of that 😉

    Do you know if you need permission to transfer reviews from google and yelp to your website for a testimonials section? I'm thinking of copying and pasting them.

    • @BashBesties
      @BashBesties  Pƙed 3 lety +1

      I’m not sure if you need permission, there probably is some minor law, but most don’t follow it. If you’re hesitant I’d say girl just do it, you need those credible reviews displayed! Besides if someone left you a positive review online, they probably don’t mind their opinion being shown or used for the most part. What I do though for privacy is usually omit any names from the review, and instead I will label under the review the type of party like “-16th bday, Los Angeles.” Just remove the names and any really personal info if shared and you should be fine. There’s also apps that you can put on your site that will post the Yelp reviews to your page automatically you just have to find it on your website builder.đŸ‘ŒđŸŒđŸ’•

    This is a great video and I have learned so much from your other videos as well. I do have a question though, the deposit money. The total amount that you are receiving a deposit from, does it include your rate in the total? to clarify if the question is not clear, for example if my services are say $450 and after going over all the client asks for, for their event the event totals 1,000. When sending them the invoice or telling them how much everything will be, you will tell them $1450? or am i just telling them how much the event will cost and receive my service payment separate. I'm sorry i hope i am making sense.

    • @BashBesties
      @BashBesties  Pƙed 4 lety +2

      Thanks hun! I’m glad you are finding the channel helpful! For my business I take 50% deposit and more as the party goes if they add anything additional on. Then collect the remaining balance the week before the party date......Yes, if I were to invoice them I’d tell them the total party cost is going to be $1450, and then breakdown line by line the rest of the invoice on a chart so they can see the breakdown of the quote.
      If they wanted to then remove some items to adjust for their budget that’s fine, but if you have a standard set rate then your rate shouldn’t change in the quote, for the example it would still be $450.
      I’d require a certain amount for deposit up front to begin working and set a payment plan for the rest of the balance until paid in full and all services are rendered. 💕

      @BashBesties  Pƙed 5 lety +2

      Hello, thank you so much! I did not. If you watch my first ever EP video I talk about how I never even planned to be an EP. I was actually a licensed cosmetologist and I started doing spa parties on the side to make extra money and utilize my license in college. I literally threw up a little styled shoot with my nieces, used the pictures to make a website, and advertised on Craigslist. I started getting booked and evolved my business with each party, until what it's become today, which is a children's event planning and entertainment company specializing in girl's parties. Courses are always good though! I never took an actual "event planning" course, but I did do a lot of research and market analysis on the industry before and I utilized what I was learning in my college degree to apply to my business ❀.

      All education in my opinion will help you whether it’s in a classroom or hands on. I just want everyone to know that it’s not required to get started so don’t let that be a reason to not move forward with starting. If you feel you’d learn something new or it would help you get more comfortable with this industry then by all means go for it! 💕

    Do all of your costs come from the deposit or do you end up paying out of pocket for things?

    • @BashBesties
      @BashBesties  Pƙed 5 lety +3

      So my first two parties ever I don’t even think I took a deposit đŸ€ŠđŸœâ€â™€ïž Then I realized I absolutely needed one..but then was charging too low of a deposit so definitely ended up paying for things out of pocket. Now, I take a sizable deposit 50% and if people add on extras I send them another invoice. If you don’t you will end up paying out of pocket for things, I did it for so so so long. So all my costs come out of my deposit, but in the beginning they didn’t because I wasn’t charging a high enough amount.
