Hi! Great video! Thax for sharing! Do you have a Consultation Policy Sheet available?
Hello Miss Lady, Thank you so much for sharing. This video is the first one I've watched of you and will watch all of your other ones. It was very informative. I want to first say, "Thank you" so much for answering all of the questions. You are the only person I know that have taken the time to reply to ALL OF THE QUESTIONS. Not that there aren't any others, however, I've never ran into to them and I live on youtube. So thank you so much. I always read all the questions first before asking mine just in case the answer is in one of them. I am a new Wedding and Event Designer, been helping people with their events for years and now I've made my passion into a business. I have a few questions for now and will read the FULL-LENGTH video soon along with all your other videos. 1) from the initial Party Questionnaire email, what length of time do you give your potential clients to give you the deposit? 2) Is your deposit a non-refundable deposit? 3) If they cancel, do you keep the deposit or a portion thereof or do they have a time limit to cancel by like within 48-72 hours after signing the contract? (of course I have a host of other questions but will wait to view your other videos) Thank you for your time.
I've been planning my own events for years and I'm looking to start my own event business. I want to focus on weddings.
I thank God for having found you đ I'm a new mum, living in France and I'm thinking of starting my own business in event planning (particularly children's party) so I can accommodate looking after the family too. I just started watching your videos (which are so helpful!), so forgive me of you have answered this already....do you also provide food as party of the party decor? Such as cupcakes, bonbons, cake etc...? Thanks in advance, you are awesome!
Great video! This is so helpful. Thank you for sharing. I have learned more. Stay safe.
So happy to have found your videos!!! Can you please add the party questioneir to your Etsy shop!!
Thank you Barbara, yes I sure can!!!

Id also like to know what system you have as you mentioned that works with all venues?
Hey luv
So this thing of fixed price I really want to start immediately after school but am stuck thea
This is very helpful! đ Me and my friends are currently planning to have this kind of business. May I ask? (If it's okay to ask this..) if how much (estimated) cost should be needed to put up this kind of business? Thank you so much. I'll be supporting your videos from now on! Greetings from Philippines! â€ïž
I'm so glad you found it helpful! Really you can start with very little. The cost of doing some faux shoots, printing cards, and building your website is all you really need. You can get started for really a couple hundred dollars. I started my business with my computer, phone, and camera and built a website and marketed my services! If you are going in to business with your friends it's great because you can split the cost and responsibility. There will be some exciting things coming about on the channel, so I'm so glad you'll be sticking around! â€đ€
@@BashBesties did you have to get a virtual address?
See the only thing with me is how can I get a proper estimate for an event without looking at venues? I live in NY and venues can range in pricing drastically. Do you have any tips?
So thatâs why I like an upfront questionnaire. This give you time to do some online research before speaking with the customer. Thereâs times Iâve got an event request and looked at the venue and was like nope it was going to be a disaster to setup. For instance, I will not setup in hotel rooms...only ground level event spaces.
In any case, I would probably check out some of your local venues on your free time too, if there are some pretty popular ones around you. Just so you have an idea of local spaces.
Remember to remind clients this is tentative based off of the present information at hand and things could change and need to be adjusted. If they have a specific venue that will require full transformation request that they need to schedule you for a venue consultation and youâll provide an estimate post-visit. Then the consultation fee will be credited to their total cost in the end if they book. đ
@@BashBesties THANK YOU SO MUCH! I wrote my first itemized quote because of you and in the process of drafting a contract now! Thank you a million!
And I''ll begin writing an event questionnaire as well. have a beautiful and blessed day!
Yassssssss sis!!! đđœđđœ You for this, I wish you all the best!! đđ
You as well! đđœđ
How do you create a set up for any event ?
So do you have a maximum # of guest you party plan for or?
Im starting out with just children parties and then wrk my way into teens young adults.
Thank you for your video. I live in Seattle, Washington. Where should I study to become a wedding planner? and how long it takes the course? Can I take the course online?
Got a quick question when using your balloon columns and backdrop set up do you go back after the party and collect your items or you just let the client keep them and order more
How long before the event do people have to book? Do they pick the venue or do you? Do you have a partnership with caterers?
I plan smaller childrenâs events and the client handles the food. My clients usually book with a month or two of their event and they pick the venue.
Can teens do this business? I'm very young and I want to start a business young but I have to go to school still :/
Your videos are very helpful. Do I need short classes to start
Thank you, itâs really up to you and what you feel you need to be comfortable moving forward. Iâll actually be doing a group course in April. If you follow me in @Miss.EventPlanner I post updates on it! đ
Before jumping into event planning, would I need to get a LLC, EID, and trademarking done first?
Hello Sarah, not at all. You can definitely be a sole proprietor and I would just make sure the name you choose is not already trademarked so you donât run into and problems later! đ
I love your IG and CZcams channel. What kind of camera do you use to take pics of your setup?
Hello, I use to use a Nikon D5100 which a nicer lens, just got a new camera so Iâll be using a Sony a6600 from now on....but these days you could shoot with your iPhone if you have a newer model and get some bomb photos if youâre not trying to invest that much into a camera setup. đ
Very helpful girl. Quick question.. more like random question.. does the client keep anything? Or do you pick up everything the following day?
Thanks hun! So, I usually keep everything and add it into my inventory. Custom items for sure can be kept by client because they canât be reused of course. I also leave balloon garlands most of the time, sometimes clients want me to take them back though surprisingly. If itâs a large rental that would definitely be picked up later in the day or the following day....My company usually provides entertainment though as well. So lots of times we just clean up at the end of our service time since weâre leaving and the party is generally over by that time and exit with everything we brought at that time. đ
This is very helpful but i think you left one thing out,you talk about deposits but when do you get the rest of the money.love all your ideas God bless đâ€ïž
Hello Marie, I didn't discuss money too much because there's different timelines that people choose to take payments. I collect remaining balance a week before when I send out my final documents and confirmations, normally people do it around 2 weeks prior as a safeguard. Some choose to accept it day of or even spread it into a multiple payment plan. It's just what you prefer and what works best to operate your business! †God Bless you as well! đ€
Thanks for presenting this video, itâs exactly what I needed. Iâm building a Paint Party business- so this was very helpful!!
I was wondering- have you experienced any ânot so pleasantâ experiences when you arrive at your clients home? Or do you only event plan at Venue locations?
Aww I'm so glad! That's great yes we have a similar business model then. I have never experienced unpleasant clients, thank God, but there is some clients who become a little relaxed about paying their balance all of a sudden if you know what I mean. I learned that the hard way and so do most planners. You want to make sure your clients pay their remaining balance before the start of the party. Some planners require 14 days in advance. I do both, bust mostly I receive clients who host their events in their home. â€
The Makeover Mom Iâm located in the Midwest- so no competition to you. I needed (and still needed some vital questions answered). Whether you know it or not- youâve been my virtual mentor. đđŸ
Love your content, how genuine you are, and to the point persona!
How many percent must/should a party deposit be?
Usually itâs a minimum of 50%, and the rest in set intervals or two weeks before the event.
Very interesting lesson! In the opportunity, I wish that Jesus, the Name above all names (Phillipians 2), bless you, and may you feed from His Word and Salvation!
Shoutouts to you for this Video !! Im starting my own Event Planning Company and I just would like to know more about Google search did you have to get a DBA ( Doing business as ) because I'm at the step where I'm tryna get booked instead of looking for the clients ?
Hello and thank you! So, Google Search relies on having a strong presence online. So you have to create a website and work on your SEO to rank. You do have to get a DBA if you are operating your business under a different name than your own name. I get probably 95% of my bookings from clients finding me in Google and the other 5% on Yelp. So, I strongly believe in starting with building your businesses online presence!
Oh and do you rent your chairs and tables or??
Sometimes, I usually do smaller parties so I bring my own to save a little coin and increase profits. Bigger parties Iâd rent or if specialty tables are needed.
A first time used to organised a event ....so I want to contact you đ to organised.
I really need ur help
Have a question, if I want to become an event planner do I need to go to college and have a degree for business??
I have a whole video on the topic! czcams.com/video/FCeoracgwPg/video.html â€
What's Your business website ?
i am just starting out with my wedding/event planning business.. just looking at pricing guides and should i build a website as well?
Congratulations! Iâm always recommend building a website when you start your business even if you donât have customers yet, even if itâs something basic. This is because it immediately puts you in Googleâs database to start building your authority on the internet. This is important because basically it helps Google refer you to people looking for services in your area. Of course they way Instagram works now, there are many people that just thrive and receive all their business through there, but I always still think itâs a good practice to have a place where people can click and get more information about you! đ
@@BashBesties
what and where did you go to start up your website
What is your website?
Amazon in India sucksđ u never know what type(quality) of product u get. But a great video!đ» Thank u so much for all the information!đ I am starting my event planning now! I wanted to ask you how do I charge my clients at the starting?
Oh that can be difficult! Maybe you can use the US Amazon site, not sure how bad the shipping prices would be though. Thank you so much for watching! I always recommend starting a bit under market rates, not substantially so that you donât have enough to complete the event obviously. Just low enough that if you donât have a portfolio yet that someone would give you a chance if theyâre on a budget. If you have a portfolio Iâd say start exactly at the rate of your competitors in your area then go up as you improve! đ
hey i wanted to know what trade school did you go to become a Event Planner ?
Hey hun, so thereâs no trade schools really available for being an event planner! Crazy huh? Usually only online private courses or sometimes schools will offer a hospitality degree with a specialization in it. I went to college for business and fashion merchandising and I have my cosmetology license as well. I started out doing spa parties at first and then expanded to event planning in general, so I learned everything from research and experience of running my own business.đ
Thank you !!
Hi, we need a license?
Not in the US. Watch a couple videos back, I uploaded a video explaining do you need education and certification. Thanks!
Miss Event Planner thank you
Starting a home based wedding planner business looking for price lists not sure of doing hourly or flat fee
I always like a flat fee in the beginning because it helps clients feel secure in what they have to pay and you know exactly how much youâre getting paid. However, with wedding planning that can entail a lot of additional hours than other events so hourly can be beneficial. Why not a combination of both. Set a flat fee and if you plan over a certain number of hours and hourly rate incurs on top of that đ
Awsome thank you . Iâm still not really sure how to start
Also itâs hard for me to find a mentorđ«
Start by watching my Career Makeover series, itâll help give you a little bit of an idea on how I got started and you can begin as well!
So how do you start when you only have planned your own parties
Do you know if you need permission to transfer reviews from google and yelp to your website for a testimonials section? I'm thinking of copying and pasting them.
Iâm not sure if you need permission, there probably is some minor law, but most donât follow it. If youâre hesitant Iâd say girl just do it, you need those credible reviews displayed! Besides if someone left you a positive review online, they probably donât mind their opinion being shown or used for the most part. What I do though for privacy is usually omit any names from the review, and instead I will label under the review the type of party like â-16th bday, Los Angeles.â Just remove the names and any really personal info if shared and you should be fine. Thereâs also apps that you can put on your site that will post the Yelp reviews to your page automatically you just have to find it on your website builder.đđŒđ
Hi I tried clicking on the link for the client tracker and was greeted with an error. Is the link still available for use?
Hello there, yes it is! Sometimes when it's copy and pasted into the description box CZcams shortens it and it becomes messed up for some reason. Here is the link again: www.etsy.com/TheMakeoverMomShop/listing/607719296/event-planner-client-booking-tracker?Copy&ListingManager&Share&.lmsm&share_time=1555351490354 Thank you so much!
This is a great video and I have learned so much from your other videos as well. I do have a question though, the deposit money. The total amount that you are receiving a deposit from, does it include your rate in the total? to clarify if the question is not clear, for example if my services are say $450 and after going over all the client asks for, for their event the event totals 1,000. When sending them the invoice or telling them how much everything will be, you will tell them $1450? or am i just telling them how much the event will cost and receive my service payment separate. I'm sorry i hope i am making sense.
Thanks hun! Iâm glad you are finding the channel helpful! For my business I take 50% deposit and more as the party goes if they add anything additional on. Then collect the remaining balance the week before the party date......Yes, if I were to invoice them Iâd tell them the total party cost is going to be $1450, and then breakdown line by line the rest of the invoice on a chart so they can see the breakdown of the quote.
If they wanted to then remove some items to adjust for their budget thatâs fine, but if you have a standard set rate then your rate shouldnât change in the quote, for the example it would still be $450.
Iâd require a certain amount for deposit up front to begin working and set a payment plan for the rest of the balance until paid in full and all services are rendered. đ
Ok great thank you for clarifying for me đ€
Great video! Very helpful too. Did you ever take any event planning courses before getting started?
Hello, thank you so much! I did not. If you watch my first ever EP video I talk about how I never even planned to be an EP. I was actually a licensed cosmetologist and I started doing spa parties on the side to make extra money and utilize my license in college. I literally threw up a little styled shoot with my nieces, used the pictures to make a website, and advertised on Craigslist. I started getting booked and evolved my business with each party, until what it's become today, which is a children's event planning and entertainment company specializing in girl's parties. Courses are always good though! I never took an actual "event planning" course, but I did do a lot of research and market analysis on the industry before and I utilized what I was learning in my college degree to apply to my business â€.
@@BashBesties thank you so much for replying. This is very helpful for me thank you so much! â€â€
do I need to attend some seminars regarding this business or attend some short term classes?
All education in my opinion will help you whether itâs in a classroom or hands on. I just want everyone to know that itâs not required to get started so donât let that be a reason to not move forward with starting. If you feel youâd learn something new or it would help you get more comfortable with this industry then by all means go for it! đ
Did you get a degree to start event planning?
Hello, I have a degree in Family and Consumer Sciences. I started my event planning business while in college getting a degree!
Do all of your costs come from the deposit or do you end up paying out of pocket for things?
So my first two parties ever I donât even think I took a deposit đ€Šđœââïž Then I realized I absolutely needed one..but then was charging too low of a deposit so definitely ended up paying for things out of pocket. Now, I take a sizable deposit 50% and if people add on extras I send them another invoice. If you donât you will end up paying out of pocket for things, I did it for so so so long. So all my costs come out of my deposit, but in the beginning they didnât because I wasnât charging a high enough amount.
