For those interested, the current state of Anvilgard/Har Kuron is fully detailed in the Shadow in the Mist Adventure. The 6 Chapters are an adventure which sets the scene for the take over, and the last part explains what the city has turned into (with Adventure Hook to play different adventures in it).
(Somewhat) Short Version : The Grand Conclave has been entirely replaced by various Hag Queens which uses their Blackscale Coil "allies" to maintain control over the city (so the traitors of Anvilgard didn't even get to reap the final reward). The Streets are nearly empty, the Idoneth Deepkin took a lot of people in paiement for their alliance and a lot of the rest were executed by the Aelves for any trace of Chaos corruption (or Sigmarite zealotry for that matter).
The rest are either part of the resistance (including some former members of the Blackscale Coil, who had no idea what was the real deal behind their organisation), lead by those few members of the Conclave which survived the Purge. They're trying their best to protect what's left of the population and eventually rise up should Sigmar come to their aid.
Interesingly enough, the City's market have somewhat...prospered because of it. Whilst most merchants have fled the city, trade from Ulgu is exploding, especially narcotics and shadowy susbtances from Misthvàn. However, this doesn't really help the city, since the commercial routes with other Cities of Aqshy were naturally cut the moment Anvilgard's fall became common knowledge. The population's earnings are also easy prey for Corsairs and Witch Aelves roaming the streets.
To add more disaster, the shortage of people actually means the city hasn't fully recovered from the Battle (yet). The damages done during Morathi's take over have not been damaged yet because the Sorceresses can't find enough minions to repair the city entirely, and materials are harder to come by. It's the reason why the Darkling Cover is one step beneath the Daughters of Khaine in the hierarchy : they failed to secure the city before a resistance could be mounted.

I would love a story set from the perspective of the Anvilgard Resistance. I could see some holding out hope for reinforcements to retake the city, and others turning to darker powers for vengeance against the Witch Elves and turncoat former neighbors.

Yes the Anvils had a full Stormkeep in Anvilgard, all the Metropolises have Stormkeeps (some have multiple). Part of Morathi's plan involved attacking when much of Anvilgard's military (Stormcast, Freeguild, and other) was out of the city.
The Sorceresses of the Blackscale Coil also had used their magic to mind control and enslave both key figures as well as large swaths of the population.

I don’t think it’ll be that easy. GW REALLY REALLY like the DoK! They’re starting to smell like a little plot armor. The answer can’t always be “don’t fight cuz Chaos” or “don’t fight cuz big monster in Ghur “. You wouldn’t accept working with someone who you can’t trust and openly betrays you. Yes chaos is the big bad, but this “ally” makes your job harder by killing your own people and lying and betraying you. But it feels like we’re working towards “Age of Morathi” being the new name of the game.

We have plenty of hints that Malerion is making moves. The current theory is that Be'lakor will make another play to take the Realm of Shadows from him.
Otherwise we know that he thinks Morathi is a moron for betraying Sigmar and that he is wary of Tyrion who seems to be trying to enter Ulgu even tho this was physically and metaphysically impossible.

It’s implied that only the strongest souls actually make it through the Forging the first time. Are Morathi and Maltherion working together on this? Are they studying the stormcast as you said to make an Aelven version? Because I would say yes, and I feel all the Aelven Gods are in on it, because they know the soul pump that is Slaannash is not infinite and they are going to need a major way to boost their strength so they can break free from under sigmar.

@@adambielen8996 I know that they don’t particularly like each other but I always got the feeling that none of the Aelven gods particularly liked Sigmar. That it was always the plan between three of them now for that they wanted to break away from Sigmar’s pantheon. Because malerion Is also studying the storm cast eternals when they’re inside the combat zone or the gladatorium arena that he designed for them to practice in. And both Tyrion and Teclys Are always withholding magic from the storm cast eternal as well. Even Alerian Looks at the storm cast Eternals as an ally of convenience.
So I always felt that there is going to come a point in the narrative that the Aelven deities broke off and form their own pantheon and Let sigmar in the dwarves do their own thing.
