Why Elden Ring Worked

- Shadow of the Erdtree is upon us. Although, June 21st seems like a long way away, it's a lot sooner than some of us had thought. I wanted to make a video breaking down exactly what made Elden Ring so special, in my opinion, and this is what I put together. I hope everyone that watches it enjoys the video, if you did, be sure to subscribe to the channel for more content!

120h and im still not done with my first playthrough yet
Cherish every minute, that first play through is so special!
You’re doing it the right way.
I am a 1st time souls gamer & its been 160 hours n i am loving every moment of it !! .. still not done though
I am around 95 hours in and just beat maliketh, now I am running through underground and beating bosses before progressing further. I have changed my build like 8 times already and still planning to try sth else, it’s insane how much variety this game has holy
700 hrs in and I have 2 characters and I still don't feel good enough. I soft cap at 150 because I like the challenge
Nothing can beat my first playthrough of Elden ring. Absolutely peak moment of my gaming life
That first playthrough was so special. I have to agree, it was absolutely peak in gaming for me too. I can’t wait for Shadow of the Erdtree! Hopefully we get that same feeling with that DLC.
@@ProphesiedSage like this game made me see life in a different perspective
can you explain better what you mean by "changing the way you see life"? Because for me it's the same but I can't put that on words@@danielashiru5363
I agree that it was an amazing experience, but I’m gonna have to disagree and say that playing through Nier Automata was the most amazing and unique gaming experience I’ve ever had.
When you beat Godrick and see the mist clearing from Liurna for the first time…
I'm mainly a monster hunter fan, playing elden ring was really refreshing in comparison. It kinda scratches an itch for me that other games just don't anymore. It's kinda hard to put into words, elden ring brings to life what I thought monster hunter and other games were when I picked them up as a child. It's a huge mysterious world with a long, complicated history, but this time it's not just an illusion that immediately starts to crumble when you start to ask questions or take a closer look at it. Also, this is just a small thing, but the character you play keeps their mouth shut, thank god
Definitely agree! There's just something special about Elden Ring. Also, double agree on your character keeping their mouth shut.
The quietness of the character along with the unknown backstory for me gives them so much more mystery I love it ❤
I think people who are mon hun fans are also souls fan, these 2 games have rich wirld building and addictive combat
i’ve also revisited Elden Ring b/c of the DLC announcement & i am AMAZED by how immersed i’ve gotten again. I put it down for awhile & didn’t think going back would be this much fun but i underestimated this beast
I underestimated it too, my friend!
Literally The ONLY game that I think
it deserved more than I paid.
(my 1st Souls game)
This is so true!
I got the game free from a friend and when I beat it for the 7th time and he stopped game sharing I purchased it and am pre-ordering the DLC
I felt the same way, which is why I had no qualms with getting another copy. While I wish it was cross-platform, I understand why it isn’t. I had my first several runs on Steam, and several of my friends are gonna be playing SOTE DLC on Xbox, and the game isn’t on Xbox for PC, so I went ahead and got the game + DLC bundle for $80 and still thought that was a steal.
Hop on Dark souls 3 Brother, i honeslty think its got better weapons and the combat id just as crisp, just a litle harder base experience without the jumps and spirits
@@mesterorange8181 Elden Ring is superior
9:28 I've heard stories about FromSoft newbies who went in blind thinking that Limgrave and Siofra was the whole game so when they got to Liurnia their mind was blown. It's strange however how they didn't discover Caelid.
That's exactly how it was for me. My mind was blown, it was even more blown when I realized there was still so much of the map left after Liurnia.
Every time I discovered a new section of the map I thought “there’s no way there can be more” and there was every time 😂
Every time I discovered a new section of the map I thought “there’s no way there can be more” and there was every time 😂
Literally, haha!
I think it is because when you arrive in Limgrave, it is the Erdtree that you see, thinking it is just near. I also remember the first time I got trapped in a chest and teleported to Caelid
Elden Ring makes me feel like a giddy 5 year old on Christmas morning
As someone who went trough DS1, DS2, DS3 and Sekiro, I can say that Elden Ring has been my favorite experience so far. Even if it has some flaws (goofy ahh balance in the endgame) It wont deny the blast I went trough and the incredible sense of discovery. Finding always something I left behind after 6 playtroughs is something else, man!
The discovery is great!
Hmmmmmmmmm.... play Bloodborne 😉
@@jacobnavarro3675 No ps4 😞
The only one that I personally put above ER is the only one that you didn’t mention 😂.
But it’s almost weird to compare it to previous Souls games. It really is like comparing Breath of the Wild to previous Zelda games. It almost feels like it’s own thing, but not in a bad way
@@kode-man23 Agreed 💯! I was never able to play Bloodborne because you know, exclusives are funny and I dont own a PS4. Good analogy, is true that Elden felt like "Dark Souls, but not quite Dark Souls"
I've almost got 800 hours on er since day one and I still find new things in new playthroughs
I recently found a new invasion sign and NPC fight I hadn't discovered in 720+ hours of play. It blew my mind that ER was still giving.
When I first stepped in Limgrave I felt so many emotions all at once.
It’s so captivating!
It's got esoteric systems, great combat, old school game design with modern sensibilities, truly a great combination on top of excellent environmental direction.
Bro I literally beat the game from start to finish 6 times on new builds and just recently found a secret armor set and also a secret mini-boss.
This game is absolutely huge and I love huge games because there is nothing worse than beating a game and then realizing you have nothing interesting to do anymore..
I just saw a TikTok a few days ago showing people how to get this armor set I never heard of. He proceeded to go through a dungeon that I've never even been in either, I was amazed. Like you said, it's absolutely huge and there's so much to this game I've yet to see.
@@ProphesiedSage I'll never forget my first playthrough of this game tbh! It was the best gaming experience I've had since 2019 and despite running it on a potato PC, I still endured cuz the game is well worth it.
That first playthrough leaves you speechless, I haven't found a game that has been able to do that for me since Elden Ring. What game had you feeling the same way in 2019?
@@ProphesiedSage DMC 5 and also Sekiro. Both absolutely GOATED
Oh nice, i need to get into Sekiro next! I see a lot of people mention it in these comments.
Elden ring worked because it does what the souls games always did and it’s open world.
Interesting take, I agree on most points ! In one word, I'd say this game has integrity on all points : artistically, mechanicly and even commercially. It is a gem of pure "video game as an art form" in every aspects.
Just a head's up : the sound of your video is incredibly low, had to boost it a lot with my soundcard. Might wanna check it lol
Good vid nonetheless!
Absolutely agree on the integrity like you said! Thank you for the feedback on the sound. I’m still tweaking some settings and filters to make myself sound better, the criticism is very helpful!
@@ProphesiedSage no problem ! You've got a good voice for this type of content haha
Have a good one ;)
I love iv been seeing a ton of small creators popping off with good vids
‘Twas a beautiful love letter to Elden Ring
Thank you for sharing
Thank you for watching!
I have now over 400h in Elden Ring and just started a new character for the DLC. I am still motivated to do everything and 100% the game. Its just so beautiful. No other games can compare except other From games.
This is a great video, I really enjoyed watching it, you made a lot of good points too. I've played over 1000 hours in The Lands Between and I've beaten the game eight times, it just doesnt get old for me. I love the open world, fromsoft really did a great job creating this world and making it immersive. The fact that they made a designated jump button and then put a ton of platforming opportunities throughout the world is just lovely! I am a huge fromsoft fan and this is my favorite game they've made, I can't wait for the dlc!!!
Well put together video! Keep going you deserve more recognition!
Thank you!
My first gaming memory was around 1983/84 at 4 or 5 years old. I remember playing Ms. Pac-Man on my older sister's Atari. She rarely ever let me or my brother touch it, but we got an NES back in 1989 for Christmas. For forty years now I have been gaming, and Elden Ring is easily in my top 5 games of all time, and one of the few modern top 10 games. It is a masterpiece in every sense of the word, as is nearly everything that FS does.
I can’t explain why but I’m truly enjoying my new (2nd) run even more than my first time thru it. Took a long break and I’m somehow enjoying it more today. I don’t recall that ever happening for any game ever. We need a word that’s bigger than “Masterpiece” to describe Elden Ring
I only played dark souls three before Eldon Ring. I got to the last boss, and I never beat it but I have done two play throughs of Eldon Ring and I am on my third character. The DLC announcement got me playing again, and like you said, I love it just as much as the first time.
I picked up Elden Ring after the DLC was announced. I doubt I'll be done when it's released, but I'm taking my time and loving it so far.
Bought it day 1 of release & have never looked back. 500+ hours later, easily the greatest game I’ve ever played. It’s like Attack On Titan with anime, it ruins the rest of the medium because it’s SO DAMN GOOD😂
Elden Ring is nothing less than a miracle. It's like seeing a work of Da Vinci when all you've seen before were cave paintings. I've played it for 600h now and there's no end in sight. ER spoiled me so much that I uninstall most games after less than 5h because they lack so much in comparison.
Before Elden Ring, I had a tough time sticking with games lately. Something special sparked my interest with Elden Ring and I have the same issues with games like you said. I keep finding myself coming back to this masterpiece.
The thing about Elden Ring is that you’re never forced to interact with everything the game has, and you can choose to engage with its content when you’re ready for it. I’ll go through my experiences to explain:
1. The Tree Sentinel and Margit taught me that I was underleveled for the game’s current challenges, so I started treating it as an open world game instead of a more linear Souls game.
On my second playthrough, I became skilled enough to beat these bosses at a lower level, so Elden Ring became more like a linear Souls game.
2. I remember getting invaded one time in Liurnia, so I decided to play offline. I saw some fun PvP videos on CZcams, so I decided to give it a try. I love creating builds that help me look and play like either Guts from Berserk, or Thorfinn from Vinland Saga.
3. I played the game without reading item descriptions, until I came across the Albanauric Village. I was so intrigued by the dark visuals of the area that I wanted to learn what happened to it. I then became a lore nerd, and I love speculating about the story for the Shadow of the Erdtree dlc with my friends who have also played Elden Ring.
I am trying to get through it for the first time to be able to play shadow of the erdtree but I’m so anxious and the jump scares freak me out 😂 it’s such a beautiful world though
I got every achievement on Steam and I’m still playing ER every single day ❤
The Limgrave reveal at the beginning is iconic, but IMO Liurnia post Stormveil isn't as mind blowing as the first time the player takes the long ride down to Siofra River and sees what has been deep underneath them this whole time.
So many iconic visual moments in this game; Stepping into Limgrave, stepping out onto the cliff overlooking Liurnia, passing through the doors in Leyndell to see an explorable city below leading up into tall majestic castles with a colossal dragon, The Siofra elevator descent reveal, the visual splendor of farum azula crumbling into massive sky tornados with dragons all over, walking into the entrance of the academy for the first time after exiting the elevator room and thats not even mentioning Volcano Manor, Radhan's fortress, the Haligtree city, windmill village or any of the visual boss fights throughout. Truly one of the best realized artistic directions in a video game.
So I'm an elden ring super fan. I've beaten the game 40-ish times and could easily do another 20.(I have 10 builds planed and the DLC will likely give me another 10 or more.)
I'm the kind of guy that wants to play with every weapon type and spell type. Even after all this I'm still loving the game. The only game I've replayed this much is Skyrim.
You are the legitimate Elden Lord, haha! But literally the same as me, Elden Ring and Skyrim has been the highest replayable games for me.
@@ProphesiedSageI just love how deep the combat is. Just having a different weapon or spell type makes the combat flow feel like a new game.
It really does, I love it so much.
I'm still trying to get through my first playthrough. Can't wait for this add on, such a fun simple little game. It is so enjoyable to beat all the bosses and, just over time, get good. :)
the only problem i have with elden ring as someone thats played fromsoft games since DS1 on ps3, PC and 360 is the atrocious endgame balancing
the fact its easier to do a full SL1 run of DS3 including both dlc than it is to kill maliketh once is lowkey funny to me but thats gonna put a lot of people off
Boss fights tend to be fun if the player has the opportunity to learn punish windows (ie an attack from the boss leaves it exposed at certain angles). When a boss has no punish windows and instead forces a player to wait for an opening, that fight quickly becomes tedious. It gets worse if, instead of letting players use a punish window, the boss randomly turns around and throws an additional attack that the player isn't allowed to avoid.
Good shit bud! Subbed
Thanks man!
Started replaying and I'm already worried I'll finish way too soon. Completed Limgrave and 90% of Calid and Liurnia already.
I've played ds3 and bloodborne and never got far from the beginning at all but i got elden last year, didn't get far cause i got lost and deleted it. I downloaded it again and i got to where i was but got a little farther. Some parts are tough which get me angry but i think this will be the first souls game i truly like and well as said, the art is amazing in this game. The moment you exit the tutorial and open the doors is just great. Seeing the trees, landscape, and castles in the background is something else
Great video! For your gripe about multiplayer, all souls-like FromSoftware games have the same summon and invasion system so to change it in the next title would be a kick in the face to the loyalist fans that are familiar and comfortable with their game design choices.
Though if FromSoft were to make a multiplayer based game that would be amazing, like their own take on Remant.
I agree but they really should of fixed the lag when pvp. Armoured core pvp is perfect so I know they can do it
i love elden ring but for some reason its hard for me to do multiple playthroughs. ive done ng+ 5 times now and im just really bored lol. I guess ill wait for the dlc in the meantime.
Great video btw, very underrated.
because the world is so big that traversing can be boring to some people who are less tolerant towards downtime
ER is the only reason I gave other souls games a chance after all these years of watching from the sidelines
What are your thoughts on the other souls games?
@@ProphesiedSage So far I’ve played DS1, DS3 & Sekiro. I’ve also played Lies of P and Lords of the Fallen but those aren’t fromsoft game. Personally Sekiro taught me the most and was the most satisfying one to beat. DS1 was kinda similar to ER in the sense that you don’t have to do everything in order and had the best map design in terms of things connecting back to the beginning. DS3 had the best boss fights for me outside of ER. Lies of P is probably the closest game to an actual Fromsoft game. LOTF was such a letdown and reminded me never to preorder anything unless it’s Fromsoft lol.
I’d love to start playing Sekiro or Bloodborne next! I was curious about Lies of P and LOTF, but never picked them up.
@@ProphesiedSage Do yourself a favor and play Sekiro. There aren’t too many ways to cheese bosses and even some of the cheese is just as hard as fighting the boss normally lol. Lies of P is a great game with a great story, I hope they continue that series. Do not buy LOTF. If you do get it at a discounted price
I’ll definitely check it out, thanks for the tip on LOTF!
I am getting back in it. Played over 600 hours and have my main Primed at the finish of New Game +7 and a fresh character at lvl 150 with the crucible knight build. 👌 I'm so stoked and hoping that we actually get the Crucible Wings. 👐
I haven't really stopped playing at any point, I'm currently on my 9-th playthrough, and all except one of those were extremely thorough, picking up every item fighting every enemy (although I guess I did miss 2-3 dungeons in my first playthrough, being blind an all that) the only playthrough I wasn't thorough is in my shield only, where I decided to just do the 165 bosses, but wasn't fussed about the other stuff, and imma be honest I hated running past stuff, so i doubt I'll be doing many of those style playthroughs.
On my first playthrough, I had like 170 hours. I put it down for a while after beating the fire giant, as I wasn’t that interested in the game and became kind of tired of the formula and mountaintops was just a stale area with re used enemies to me. I picked it back up after a few months, and it was great. I had a blast. I deleted my original playthrough, and started a fresh start. It has been amazing, I didn’t take any long breaks or lose interest in the game, I finished it this time and I loved it. I’m currently level 217 on Ng+3 and it has been amazing
My best game of all time, nothing can beat it for me, also great video, 1st time I saw your video recommended to me.
Thank you, I appreciate it!
I can't believe there was debate over it being game of the year. It is possibly the best game of tje ps4/5 generation (so far).
For real, people were out there underestimating Elden Ring!
It's an amazing game, even on replay. But we will never get that feeling of entering Siofra River for the first time again. What a mind blowing moment, a giant underground map that takes a 2 minute elevator ride to get there revealing a massive and magical area.
And that first time seeing it, can't forget that. I was blown away by my introduction to it.
Part of the fun is the playstyles made a character based on Limbus company Don Quixote as a quality build, now i wield my lance and hammer when the means need as a hero knight
Though not getting anywhere near windmills except for milicent once
I had never ever been able to get past the initial learning curve of any of the other Sauls games I had ever tried. I just could not get myself to push through it whether it was due to difficulty or just being bored and frustrated.
But with Elden ring for me the initial learning curve before you got over the hump and really understood the game and could play it successfully wasn’t as brutal as other souls games. It was smoothed out enough so that at least I and a few other people I know that hated other souls games could get through it and learn to love the game game. The first act of Elden ring is near perfection in that it is difficult, but it also feels fair and it also feels that you are getting better and the fun factor is there.
Other souls games did not have that they just felt brutal punishing, and in the end boring.
And the fact that the open world was so beautiful, so full and packed of things to do was amazing, compared to so many nearly empty open world games if only every open world game understood that people want to do shit in the open world not just look at it and ride horses across it
Plus also with the addition of the stagger mechanic and the summons it just even the game out enough so that more casual gamers could actually get into the game and actually enjoy it.
Maybe the best way of putting at this for myself another people I know we always love the look of souls games. We love to look at the combat and we wish we could play it well, but we just had a level of frustration with it that we just couldn’t do it. With Elden ring they gave it just enough in the early phase of the game to get us over the hump to where we got good enough to actually play the game the way it’s supposed to be.
And if you just want to bitch about that, so be it who cares 23 million copy sold and they wouldn’t have done that if they had gotten a huge chunk of casual gamers that couldn’t get into the other games to love the game
the game that got me to the souls genra
Same here!
There needs to be a way to sort weapons by status affects and quality level.
Not even Miyazaki knows why Elden Ring works. He looked baffled when it got GOTY award lol
This is pretty off topic, but I really appreciate noticing a fellow chad M&KB player, considering we're so rare. I noticed however that you seem to be running with default keybinds, if you're fine with this, then more power to you. But I would strongly recommend rebinding your arrow keybinds, which are difficult to reach, to 1, 2, 3 and 4.
More relevant to the video topic, when I first started playing Elden Ring a bit over a year ago I didn't think much of it for a long while and recall quitting after beating Morgott at Leyndell, and after a few months something simply drew me back, and after that, before I knew it, I had clocked in 1300+ hours into the game, getting awfully close to 1400 as of writing this. Amazing game, 'nuff said
I played first on the Xbox One. Now I have it for the pS5 and the graphics look great and the load times are nonexistent. It’s even better the second time around. Gotta get to a good place for the dlc.
I did the same thing got super hyped off the trailer I haven't played since I did multiple playthoughs upon release ... and I'm loving it more now than 2 years ago getting suprised by stuff I forgot ... dlc is gonna be soo good I had bought ff7 right before the dlc trailer and I honestly couldn't even play ff7rebirth just couldn't help myself w elden ring
I loved Elden Ring and I CANNOT wait for the Shadow of the Erdtree dlc.😎🙏💯😭
Everysingle Fromsoft game WORKED. But as Miyazaki's Creative mind and lore building fan: nothing can top of Dark souls and Bloodborne for me
I see comments like this a lot. I really need to give these games another chance!
I was pretty stuborn, and spent about 5 hours trying to beat that first tree sentinal. I probably should have come back, when I was overpowered and able to take him on lol.
Question is, do i need to finish elden ring 1st or will the dlc add to the existing map?
I don’t think you need to finish Elden Ring, but you probably have to defeat Mohg. Because it will add to the existing map with unique leveling for the DLC!
From Software's success reminds me of CdProjectRed's The Witcher. Two cult games then a massive hit.
I have not stop playing it
I've been gaming for 25+ years now and the moment I laid eyes on Elden Ring, I just knew it would be the best game I have ever played.
With that said I do have a lot of problems and disagreements with the game.
People often laugh at me when I say Sekiro is the closest to perfection when it comes to video game design yet Elden Ring is the best game I have ever played and Sekiro is a game I revisit the least but only because of the lack in build variety.
If you haven't dived into the rabbit hole of self-imposed challenges then I highly recommend it.
I love your response! I completely understand what you mean with how you feel about Sekiro and Elden Ring. Plus, it’s your opinion at the end of the day. I definitely plan on giving Sekiro a chance. I’ll eventually do a video about it once I get around to playing it.
@ProphesiedSage It took me two years to click with Sekiro.
I made the mistake of playing it like Dark Souls with carried me to the end of the game but it didn't help at all with the last boss so I shelved it.
I kept having dreams about beating the final boss so I had to motivate myself to earn the click moment.
Now, Sekiro is a bit too straightforward so I find it more respectful to forget so I can relearn all over again which is something I don't have to do with the other games since I have the options to use weird weapons or apply self-imposed more heavily.
I also hate katanas so that doesn't help lol.
I have literal dozens of games I barely played (and never finished) on Steam, but only one I put 1000 hrs in and it's Elden Ring
You know peak when you see it, especially TV shows. Love your profile picture!
@@ProphesiedSage thx haha. Can't wait for Shadow of the Ertree to drop!
I’m more of a casual gamer now and mostly gave up on big open world games 4 years ago or so. Elden ring is my first souls game and it’s sooooo good! 140 hrs in on first play though. I think it actually is better open world for casual gamer cause there aren’t a million quests and backlogs of story to get bogged down in.
GRR Martin wrote the family trees for Marika/Godwyn & Rennala/Radagon. Nothing else. Even the reveal that Marika is Radagon was Miyazaki's invention.
GRRM wrote more than the family trees. He created world building, relationships, family trees, etc before the Shattering. Everything after was Miyazaki and From Soft. He gave them a world to play around with and they changed the lore and world events after the Shattering.
www.pcgamer.com/what-did-george-rr-martin-do-for-elden-ring-anyway/
Because there are so many options. You can rune farm until your hearts to content, to make things easier. You can explore other areas and kill weaker bosses to level up and get more items. Or you can tackle the tough bosses and not have a high level. It's all optional and that's why it works.
its been over 500 hours, 4 different characters (Warrior, Mage, Priest, Ranger), and im STILL finding new stuff!
I had no idea emotional attachment to any character but mine. Lol. Elden Ring is my favorite game ever, but I didn't bother with the story.
I watched lore videos afterwards though. Still confused, but I love the game regardless.
Try checking out Blaidd's story. He's one of my favorite characters.
easily the best fromsoft game and one of the best games of all time!
I love how this game's 60 GB file size is very well justified.
RE 4 REmake, a 15 hour game, is also the same size, but looks nowhere near as good and isn't nearly as big as Elden Ring.
This game is just perfection.
RE4Remake literally looks better, wtf are you on, Elden Ring doesn't look terrible but looks like a PS4 game at best
Even Demon's Souls outshines the looks of Elden Ring
@@blinkachu5275 Elden Ring looks like an absolute Next-gen title, and the PS4 version is basically 720p low graphics cuz it can't handle any more.
PS5 Elden Ring rivals even the biggest AAA titles and looks even better than most of them.
RE 4 REmake looks like a PS4 game at best, not Elden Ring.
@@blinkachu5275 wtf are you on? RE4 remake can't have any detailed environments beyond 20 feet away from your character 😂😂 game looks like absolute ass
Thecenteredtarnished says the map is shaped like a fetus , not a curled finger . Representing marika and her stabbed empty womb , the reason for her mourning and the shattering .
Oh wow, I can definitely see it after you said that. I can honestly see both, but the fetus as the map is super interesting!
@ProphesiedSage look the dude up . He's super lowkey and his videos go harder than anyone else's imo when it comes to DEEEEP dives in the lore .
I love Elden Ring lore sooooo much. I’ll give him a look, thanks!
I've got so many hours in Elden Ring, and it's a great game. My only nitpick is that it's too easy to overpower the bosses. I'm not trying to say that the game is too easy in general, or that I'm just so great at it. It's the opposite actually. This game makes me feel like I need to challenge myself by putting restrictions on the way I play, otherwise between weapon upgrades, buffs, spirit summons, and tons of flask heals it just becomes near trivial to defeat most bosses, and therefore I never really grow as a player.
Nobody likes damage sponges, but if the bosses lasted longer, or the player didn't last as long, it would force me to properly learn the encounters. I have a bit of a tradition on every new character where I don't progress past the start without defeating the tree sentinel first. By now I've gotten pretty good at fighting him. I wish I had that for more bosses.
I know exactly what you mean. The player gets to limit themselves and really control the difficulty of the game. I'm trying my run without my ash summons. If I see a character I can summon or a friend to help or vice versa, I'll do that. But I felt like my ash summons kinda cheesed some fights for me, I feel even more accomplished when I beat a boss now. I've created about 7 characters, after my first I fought the Tree Sentinel from the jump, I didn't for this recent character, but, that's a nice tradition to have for yourself.
I think the DLC IS gonna have a diferent progresion system similar to Sekiro, so lets Hope that these fights are as long as how great they can be
That's exciting. Would you recommend Sekiro? I've heard great things about it, but never played it.
@@ProphesiedSage Sekiro is a game much more focused on combat and more restrictive compared to Elden Ring (you cant use more weapons than the main one and the only way to get stronger is by beating bosses).
Its a great game, and its a very beloved one on the community. After all, It has the best combat made by Fromsoft and incredible boss fights
I infinetly recommend you if you enjoy combat focused games and the Fromsoft style.
Played it after I finished Horizon Forbidden West. Massive difference in quality and depth, and after playing Elden ring I haven’t looked back. Only fromsoft is good enough anymore
It's hard to once you realize the quality of From Soft games. Horizon are solid games too. :)
104 hours and I just finished it. New game plus is awesome but there’s just something special about that very first play through
That first playthrough will always be special.
I just beat all the 3 dark souls and bloodborne. So im making my return to elden ring with all my knowledge. (Elden ring was my first souls game) im hyped for shadow of the erd treee!
Awesome dude! I plan on giving the souls series another shot as well as Bloodborne before Shadow of the Erdtree. Elden Ring was my first souls game that really clicked with me.
@@ProphesiedSage youll love bloodborne!!! Its my favorite from software game
Idk how people hate on this game…tell me your shit at it without telling me your shit hahaha soooo many weapons, bosses, and beautiful areas in this game. A masterpiece for real
1 thing to note:
Radahn wasn't holding back a meteor. He was HOLDING BACK THE STARS EVEN AFTER GOING INSANE!
Oh shoot, you’re right! I must have gotten his meteor attack on his second phase confused with the stars. My mistake on that, thanks for the correction.
@ProphesiedSage all good man. This is a very confusing game to be fair
Elden Ring was a mixed bag for me, but way better than most games that have been coming out.
i’m on new game plus 3 and this game still blows my mind how much was added to this game. and when I thought gaming was going downhill with companies half assing games and putting a pay to win behind most games, Fromsoftware became one of my favorite game creators ever.
I think it's pretty good. I don't think it'd make my top ten ever but I'd give it a mention.
This game just feels like the real open world, and i don't feel like being constrained to just obey the rule, you can be the hero or the villain depends on how you chose to walk your journey. Really really love this game
Ive beaten Elden Ring with 3 different characters as well as additional NG cycles and Ive still yet to do a full playthrough without using summons a single time.
I think I wanna do a no summon run for my new quality build I’m making for the DLC. I need to know that I can beat Godfrey without a summon.
What character did you use? I want the magic staff and axe
I started off with an Astrologer. I've tried a few builds, but never a mage, so I wanted to try it out. I can't remember where I got the axe, but the staff I'm using is the meteorite staff that you can find in Caelid. It's pretty easy to get too, if you have Torrent!
@@ProphesiedSage thanks bro hopefully it gives me a decent headstart
There should be guides on how to get the meteorite staff on CZcams, you can't level up the staff, but if you're grabbing that staff, make sure to get the Rock Sling spell right next to it. It's in a small underground room, you'll see some stairs. But, the staff is supposed to help with gravitational spells like Rock Sling, which is what I used in the video. When I get home I'll look and see what axe I'm using and let you know. Good luck, man!
@@ProphesiedSage hey I really appreciate it!!! I’m thinking of streaming it
Stream it! You've got this!
So, I've beaten the game and I was doing NG+, but I stopped. My problem was that in my first playthrough, I 100% the game. I was kind of obsessed and wanted to find and do everything, and I pretty much did. But I really wish I hadn't because as I was going through NG+, I was so bored. There was nothing new anymore. I wish I had left some of that stuff uncovered to make the 2nd playthrough feel different. So I won't be playing again until the DLC release in June. My advice to people just starting the game, don't worry about doing everything, just go through the areas casually. Inquisitively, but casually.
I did the exact same thing. I think I'm going to do the dlc then complete the game again and hope I forget what I did the first time around.
The game is fun and honestly, it is inspiring. The gods and the tarnished. Even though the world is grim, you'll try to help as you can and become the Elden Lord. Then you also got the frenzy flame ending if you're feeling like Patrick Bateman
Played the game full time when 2024 started. I was about 130h in when I beat the last boss. Still collecting stuffs before going to NG+. The only downside of this game is that feeling of playing the game for the first time.
It would’ve been cool if you could’ve synced up the visuals with what you were talking about at the time.
On my 9th playthrough
You're an absolute legend.
Started playing Elden Ring again literally because of the DLC. I'm on NG+, 150 hours in... and just beat Radahn... obviously it was much easier this time but wow, I'm amazed as to how great the game is. I stopped playing it completely back then because the game is just too overwhelming to just start over and act casual about it... all the puzzles to continue the story and whatnot while researching CZcams, I don't like. Still a 10/10
You can’t just launch the game and play here and there, you’re right. There’s so much content and things you need to do, so many interconnected characters and stories. Google was my friend when I was doing the Ranni quest. I was so confused on how people even realized how to do it without help.
It would be nice if FromSoftware would set up the smithing stations so you can by the stones from the smiths, & NOT have to run over to a different merchant to buy them, then run back to smith your weapons.
Other than that, this is a game that drives me fvcking insane at times, yet I love playing it all the more!
Bro, I was playing today and I kept dying to the full grown fallingstar beast. I was getting so unlucky, it’s frustrating at times but I love it so much.
😂😭
@ProphesiedSage I used my mimic summons, & just SMESH that full grown fvckwad with my Grand Sack Bolt until it stopped moving.
Your mimic will distract it, so you can WHACK it!
Because it’s peak…and aesthetically pleasing!
Best aesthetics ever!
@@ProphesiedSage no lie it’s the greatest action adventure rpg of all time imo!
I have to agree, it's hard to beat this game in every aspect.

No Spoilers:
Only ever were interested in FPS or Racing genres and my friends still managed to convince me to buy it.
First, they had to help me fight. they finished the first 2 boss-fights in seconds, while it took me more than an hour to stop fighting the first one.
If they could do it, I could do it.
So, I started learning, exploring, watching guides, lore videos.
Then I realised, what a masterpiece this is.
Lore, Music, Atmosphere, fights, mechanics, everything!
The DLC (Which, of course is the only DLC that I will not hesitate paying for) hyped me even more and I started a new save even though I have more than 100 hours and NG+5 on the main one.
Speaking of, I'm 500 lvl and still have to be careful with the late game stuff, because the game does not let you feel safe and cheese everything easily (at least when you're playing normally).
I bought Elden Ring when the currency in my country was very high and 35 dollars is a lot for us.
Long story short, this is the only game, that makes me feel, that I'd pay even 100 dollars for.
Elden is the first and so far only game that I’ve ever bought at launch
I dont know how many hours in i am but im level 220...and last time i played i found the subterranean shunning grounds
this and rdr2 are true AAAA games
You also forgot Skull and Bones. 😂
Elden ring put the whole souls genre on the map
Loved? LOVED! LOVE you mean! ;)
Sorry shouldn’t have put past tense! Haha 😂
I haven't checked the comments yet but I swear there will be like 3-5 people commenting " no this game sucks" and write a full paragraph about it and only 25% would make sense and all of those people would specifically search for those comments and like them.
Anyway, flawed but incredible experience. Really is a slap on every other aaa company's face.
I feel like uou could teach a whole college course just on the art direction in this game. This is the ONLY game where i can look at anything i want and not think "this is too much," or "this is not enough." Eveything is perfectly balanced between graphic fidelity and digestiveness.
Maaan i will finally get a PC that can run stuff thats not GTA San Andreas in a week, you have no idea how much i will play this game the moment i get my hands on it i'd love some other game recommendations too i already have Cyberpunk, Tekken 8 and Final Fantasy on the radar
That's awesome! I just built my PC in December, I started off by playing Cyberpunk on my PC, absolutely gorgeous game.
