Vedanta Society of New York is affiliated with the Ramakrishna Order of India. In fact, this is the Order's first Center started by Swami Vivekananda, in 1894. It was a historic event, for the seed of the world-wide Ramakrishna Movement was sown here in New York over a century ago. Swami Sarvapriyananda is the present Resident Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York.
It becomes so refreshing when She asks to put aside every pre-existing notion including The Vedanta and understand things as they are happening RIGHT NOW. And then concluding it with the idea of Atman and pure consciousness is eye opening. This is the first time I have started to think of the pure consciousness as a reality.

You are so correct about Revered Mataji. We are experiencing the character of Gargi that Swami Vivekananda had envisioned about India's ladies of the future. Unfortunately, Maitreyis cannot be found in this Kali Era. The mothers of the families in this era have too much of the "Stri Bhava"
(Womanhood), whereby they often tend to slip away from Matri Bhava(the attitude of a mother for her children) which is the most fundamental aspect of any individual, otherwise he or she is a beast in the human form- as Thakur had said. He had said: Matri Bhava is the purest of all Bhavas. Then only we could see more of Maitreyis as well.

*Bharat* has always been a land of seekers. Our philosophical inquiries reached towering heights in the ancient times. Sanatan Dharma, and the associated system of thought opens up gates for inquiry into self, and through that inward looking approach, our culture has survived thousand years of colonialism and oppression.
*Our young children* should be trained in that process of inquiry, which enabled Arjuna to stand up and fight a war for Dharma, and our beloved Bhagaban Ram ruled his kingdom with a sense of service and responsibility. Materialistic learning which is necessary for material progress, together with such philosophical inquiry can work wonders by enabling our children to take informed choices by making them aware of ways to lead a happy, purposeful and inquisitive life. If the effect of the thousand year of those cultures which say *"My way or Highway"* is to be negated, we must have another thousand year, for healing the wounds inflicted on our culture. It can be done only through educating the people living in this sacred land and imbibing Sanatani culture in the hearts and minds of the masses .

The notion of 'Ghost in the machine' is a counterfactual to internalist phenomenology which is similar to the phenomenology of the camera obscura which is separate from the external reflected source as a 'pilot wave' for the image in the box.

What happens to the mind & its thoughts and feelings after we die?
What’s this life all about? What is the purpose of knowing that we are Awareness?
The peace that we get when we ignore all feelings & thoughts?

Anything that gets “quantified “ is not the subject, the awareness. Consciousness is the very subject that cannot be quantified like an object. If one does this, then obviously it is NOT the subjective awareness. It is beyond mind, rating occurs at the mind as a thought. The thought is in awareness and awareness is not in the thought.
Shakthi's (jntelligent energy) dance of duality cycles (experience) happen in the conscious field of Shiva - the experiencer. Consciousness is an attribute of shiva just like heat is an attribute of fire and the sun.
