66. The Foundational Texts of Indian Philosophy | Dvaita | Swami Tattwamayananda
Indian Philosophy, spanning over more than six thousand years, represents a unique intellectual, cultural and spiritual heritage of human civilization. It is not only “love of learning” (as philosophy is usually defined) or just an intellectual journey in search of the highest truths of life and existence, but it is also a quest for their practical realization in our everyday life. The different schools of Indian philosophy were established by great preceptors from time immemorial to enable their students to manifest the highest ethical and spiritual values in their lives.
The speaker Swami Tattwamayananda is the minister of the Vedanta Society of Northern California, San Francisco. In interpreting the doctrines of particular schools of thought, he has attempted to keep in touch with their respective foundational texts in Sanskrit or, in dealing with the Buddhist schools, with the texts in Pali.
In phase 1, he will be discussing the different schools of Vedanta (one of the ‘Āstika Darśana’s) beginning with Advaita, to be followed by the schools of Ramanuja, Madhva, Vallabha, Nimbarka, Baladeva, and others.
This series is hosted by the Stanford Hindu Students Association and being cross-posted on Vedanta Society of New York's CZcams channel.

What a great pleasure to listen to this two greats & the treasure they had opened before us. What fascinated me was the 4 parts of mind (Antahkaran), their subgrouping into 2 seaths & how they function in our being: discussed at 44:30 - 53:30. This also clarifies few of my old questions. Thanks & pranam to both of you Swamiji🙏🙏

Wonderful 4 year old talk! I am hesitant to respond as I only occasionally have access to a Swami or such. I also hear Anahata or the unstruck background noise most, but not all the time. If I am understanding correctly, it is the OM or AUM. I was told to try to listen to where that sound comes from. I was told that Brahmans 1st part of creation was space which created an expanding AUM vibration, but more complicated than that. I have not found the source yet, but have realized that I am not this temporary physical body, nor a thought (when the thought stops, my AWARENESS does not stop), nor am I the chatty egoic mind or memory. I am the AWARENESS of all of those. I am existence, awareness and bliss. But again, I am not in that state all of the time. Have you ever observed something for the 1st time? So nothing to judge it by or compare it with. Just pure observation and wonder. One is picking up a lot of information. The 2nd time one see's it, the memory pop's up generally and says I recognize that, and since the memory is of the past reacting to the now, and can project into the future. One is observing much less so seeing directly much less because attention is going into the memory and lower mind. Memory and lower mind has it's needed purposes and uses, but for many it runs the show most of the time. Until one's unconscious becomes conscious, it will be directing your life and karma. Do you know why many who meditate observe their breathing or thoughts? One's breathing is in the now and energizes OBSERVATION rather than thought and memory. It also tends to slow one's breathing down as does slow deep breathing which has the effect of slowing and calming the mind and thoughts. One's breathing also connects our true eternal self to this temporary physical body. If I am using wrong verbiage or incorrect, I am not from Swamiji's lineage nor advanced, but recognize his wisdom and insight. His insight is like a clear pond which is calm, peaceful and can see from top to bottom beyond duality, and see's where the wave starts and their effects. My Spiritual teacher said to me - "To realize who you truly are is the exact reverse process of creation."

Pranam Swamiji 🙏🙏🙏 Jai Shree Ramakrishna. i think.. it is the Causal body (Kaarana Shareera ) which is referred to here in the question... as the " Black hole " which sucks our personality into it while going into deep sleep state. May be...the Black holes we see in the Outer Space are also Causal bodies which gets exposed or unveiled...when a Star undergoes certain changes. It is the same homogenous Causal state (Kaarana Shareera) which is behind every piece of gross matter in this Universe... let it be an atom , a human body or a Star. Is it?
