A made up story like a lot of the shit they spout unfortunately. This song and riff was almost entirely written by Tony Griffiths of the Real People. I recommend doing some research into who actually (helped) write the majority of their songs and engineer their sound (and Liam's voice) at the beginning.

There used to be loads more vids and pics floating around on forums all citing different sources and bits of information on just how big the Real People's input on Oasis' music was at the beginning, but they have long since been removed by lawyers. The Griffiths brothers themselves don't talk about it because they are paid to shut up and as far as I'm aware are on good terms with the Gallagher's but it's all out there still if you dig and pretty glaringly obvious too. Personal Source: This was common knowledge to me as I heard the Real People play live before Oasis was a proper thing back in the 90s. When I heard Oasis for the first time on the radio I could've sworn on my mums life that I was hearing the Real People.

Liam had incredible stage-presence during this phase - they were still very hungry and the way he stalks and stares-out the crowd in pure confrontation, daring anyone to take him on - captivating. Combined with superb vocal delivery - immense. Not your average rock band by any means and a real pity they failed to penetrate the US market mid/late 90's probably because promoters were uncertain of how/where they might fit-in.

I was at this gig as an over excited 16 year old, going to a gig in London to see Oasis for the first time at that age was a massive deal. This was when it started getting BIG for Oasis, it was their first huge gig and then it went mental, certainly in the UK. This was what always stayed with me, Liam staring out 20,000 people while Noel did his solo was just epic and sealed the deal, Oasis became life for me.

Goddamn, it wasn't until about 90 seconds into the video I remembered I was actually there at this gig! Had a spare ticket, took a girl called Jo who was a few years older and was barely even aware of the band at the time. I was well hyped to hear 'Supersonic' as it was the first song I'd heard them do and still my favourite (though 'Whatever' and 'Live Forever' came close).
Honestly, I still think the first album was better than the later ones, although 'The Masterplan' b-sides runs it close because in those early days their b-sides were better than most bands' a-sides. Hell, 'Some Might Say' had 'Acquiesce' on the b-side, which has to be a rare case of a b-side blowing away the a-side.
Anyway, enough rambling. Thanks for the memory jog. Can't believe it's over a quarter of a century already, that's just mental.

The accents being difficult to understand is really just a British thing. As I'm English and grew up here I can now understand pretty much all of the different accents apart from the really fucking strong Scottish ones. Takes some getting used to for sure, very colloquial and it can almost be like learning a new language to begin with.

If u want another top English band that inspired Oasis look at The Jam. They were around 77 to 82. The singer Paul Weller is god in this country. Songs like going underground, town called malice, that's entertainment. Noel was a big fan and they ended up being neighbours n mates for years. Weller had the attitude, style and songwriting skills of Noel/oasis when he was only about 19 years old. He still going now.

Alright guys if you want a bit of history behind how Oasis got their sound back in the 90's then check out bands like "The Real People" (Feel the pain, Window Pane, Dream on) & "The Stone Roses" (Love Spreads, Waterfall, Sally Cinnamon) - we will all tune in if you also react to these band. Cheers

Liam loves having a staring contest with the crowd 😂 I remember in the Supersonic documentary he said something like if lightning was coming towards him he could just stare at it and wouldn't hit him lol
