  • Hidden in the depth of the forest of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta live the Kogis. This indigenous tribe, one of the last remaining descendants of pre-Columbian societies, has protected this land for over 500 years. The mountain is their sanctuary.
Anyone wishing to enter this sacred land must make a spiritual offering to Mother Earth, as the Kogis do. “Since we benefit from nature, we must settle our debts in a spiritual way", they say.
Ready to bond again with Nature?
From the film: “A World of Colours - Colombia in Green”
    Direction: Guy Beauché

The cinematography is beautiful! The overview of Kogi spirituality is spot on. There were a few things that could use elaboration though. The Kogi are not the sole descendants of the Tayrona, there are four tribes in the Sierra Nevada descended from the Tayrona:
    Kogi, Arhuacos, Wiwa, and Cancuamo.
The name for the sacred gourd, poporo, is the name given by the Spanish. Each tribe has a name in its own language for the sacred gourd.
All coffee originated in Africa and Central Asia. If the elder used to see coffee in the past of the jungle, it was from a cultivated crop. Some Kogi and other tribes in the region also grow coffee trees to produce coffee as one means of participating economically in the wider world. Their coffee is wild-grown by hand.
