4:14 Cable station second or third on the list? I would say that it depends if you have space for cable station, power rack and especially wight machines that do only one thing. You can have a home gym without cable station, get one only if you have space for it, and money. You can imitate cable station using resistance bands.
You have a hidden cost to your home gym, if it uses up considerable amount of living space in your house. If you have a 10000 square foot house, and of it 2000 is used for dedicated gym inside that house. You spend 1000 USD/month on your house, than you can divide that expense to your living space and gym. 800$/month living space 200$/month - or 2400$/year for your dedicated home gym room (that used to be living room).

Plates is a sensible thing to save on, but only if youre not going to drop them a lot. Eleiko or some other "premuim" brand will last way longer than the cheap stuff if thats the life their subjected to.

True. Olympic lifting would be the only lifting style I wouldn't go cheaper on plates. Otherwise, no reason to drop barbells too much imo. I do a lot of strongman movements and do have crash pads and some diy tire bumper plates that protect my iron plates when on the log or axle.

I'm about 40 minutes each way from the closest gym and work from home, so a home gym is the most practical for my situation.

@@maxthememer1780 I politely disagree gym is just more equipped and designed for sports activities where is a garage is designed for car storage essentially.

@@mohammadalhajahjeh393 Who said it had to be in a garage? you have to travel to the gym and that changes depending on how far away it is, traffic and then you also have to maybe shower before hand then when you're there you may have to wait to use the squat rack/bench press, you may have to wait to use the dumbbells, the bars and other equipment might be pieces of shit too.
