I like the Michelin ps4 get alot of confidence defo in a heavy rain and more stopping power. Had budget before they ok cheap less grip but worn down quickly tbh.
Be interesting to see how you get on Ant, always took the view that you only have four contact points with the ground so keep that in mind when buying tyres.
Yes true enough, but what if the cheap tyre are pretty good, do you buy the best money can buy or do we all make a compromise, will be an interesting couple of months,😂 Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hi bud I always use ditch finders. Cheap enough. 😂😅😅😅
What with pot holes and nails why spend big!! Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
If anyone is interested, the BBC Radio 4 show 'Sliced Bread' recently aired an episode about car tyres, brand vs budget. Worth a listen.
I also ran a set of Accelera road slicks on a 172 which was a budget track car. Noisy but never binned it.
Thanks Steve for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Have accelera PHIs all round on my 320d E46 touring and have had since January. Have never had a problem with them have done motorways, spirited driving, cruising and towing with them. On the correct wheel size for the tire there’s no stretch and they slightly protect the rim.
Good to know, Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I ran landsails and nankangs on my old 320cd (daily) as it spent 90% of its life up and down the m1. Never crashed, never aquaplaning - although I drove to the conditions and knew that they aren't as good as a michelin ps4 etc but aslong as you keep that in mind while driving in heavy rain they are fine for your average driver on daily commute
Like it, drive to the conditions, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hi mate great video like normal you can probably get that wheel repaired at the wheel refurbished. I only run toyo proxes and have done for years great cheap tyres I gave up on expensive tires when the roads when as bad as they am 👍
I Like Toyos, have fitted two sets to the 1 series, and ran a set on the old wheels on this 3 series, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I run Them particular Yokohamas on both my BMWs even if the inner wear is starting to go you can turn the tyres on the wheel then swap sides as they’re rotational so will still be facing the right way and you’ll get a bit more life out of them
I should have done that last year, Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Why not do a series on steel wheels vs alloy with a steel rim with a fat side wall?
Great idea, one for the future, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Drift King 😅 perfection alloys in Wigston got my old bmw rim straight might be worth it and keep as a replacement
Deffo, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I'm usually firmly in the mid range tyre band is the best choice. But have had cheap tyres (Goodride SA57) in the past. No issues really just wear wasn't the best.
Just looked at your massive size and the Tomket Sport seems super cheap at tyreleader (£95 a pair). The tyre reviews guy always seems to like Tomket tyres if you must buy budget tyres.
Looking at cheap tyres the Toyo Nanoenergy 3 on my C1 were £86.88 for 4 off ebay 😂
I Like Toyos, have fitted two sets to the 1 series, and ran a set on the old wheels on this 3 series, might have to give the Tomket a go Thanks Gav for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
We are expected by law to maintain our vehicles to be “fit” for the road! It’s a shame the roads aren’t maintained to be “fit” for our expensive cars!
I was brave when I bought these wheels, the 18s with a thicker side wall tyre might have been more pot hole friendly, but I love the look of these wheels, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Would helo is the red dot on the tyre was in line with the valve, the tyres will be out of balance, personally id steer clear of cheap tyres but would be interested on you thiughts after living with them for a month or two
So far so good, the car is still on all fours, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Maybe try 275/30/19 next time to get rid of the stretched look.
The only worry I have is if they were a wider fitment they would rub the arches as they are very close when the car is fully loaded, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I was thinking to myself there are some budget tyres that aren't bad at all, as long as they're not Accelera you'll be fine, then you went and said Accelera! 🤦 I had a terrible experience with them when a pair were fitted to the front of a car I bought a few year ago, how they are legal I'll never know lol
Why What happened tell me more!! Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@@aaanton11 oh wasn't too dramatic so apologies if I made it sound so but it possibly could have been 😂
So I bought this car several years ago that had them fitted to the front and the first time I drove it in the rain I came to a mini roundabout, went to turn right and the car skidded straight ahead, thought perhaps something wrong with suspension/tracking etc. so I put them on the rear and approached same round next time it rained and the rear end went sideways, tyres got binned soon after and I ended up fitting Goodyear eagle f1's then all was good
I dont do cheap tyres personally. When i did some CPC a few years ago the instructor explained to us all sat in the class room that if you take a sheet of A4 paper and fold it in half, and half again you are left with 4 quarters each quarter represents how much rubber is roughly in contact with the tarmac at each corner at any one time. I've just spent £650 on 4 Pirelli all seasons for my wifes S-Cross its madness but im reasured to know the trust is there in the rubber on the road should she need it
Its all personal preference, but these might offer the same grip a as an expensive pair, we will see, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I must admit the tyres are not a good fit for wheel. More a problem for the alloy than the tyre not being a good standard size. New tires are slippy which I wish the tyre shop would tell you as it’s caught me out also
They are a stretch, but any bigger I think on these wheels it would rum when fully loaded, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Never ever ever run on cheap tyres.......Most are not even made of Rubber but Nylon. Buy the big car spend the money
Its all personal preference, but these might offer the same grip a as an expensive pair, we will see, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I think budget tyres are a false economy, as a minimum I buy mid-range/2nd tier brands such as Kumho, Maxxis etc.
There’s a new podcast on BBC Sounds called “Car Tyres”…having listened to the podcast, I’m definitely avoiding budget tyres! 🛞
I will look out for it, Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
