- performance at Troy cafe, 1992. unknown track, I think he says the title of it, I couldn't make it out? I don't believe this is released on any album although I do not have a discography of Beck songs.
Remember, he just won his 5th Grammy.

That guitar was named Blind Lemon Special. I owned it fir 2 years before giving it to my nephew who stripped it clean. Beck was not famous yet.
This was at Cafe Troys in Little Japanese in downtown Los Angeles. It was a place that started in 1991-92. It’s long gone now.
He used to drag around a broken 20-watt amp. He is the greatest.
That guy keeps calling him a loser at the end, what a very unkind thing to say.

This was from around the time he and Steven Hanft were in a band and invited me to come down to Al's bar where they were playing and be the MC for their show.

Sounds to me like an early version of "Total Soul Future" from Stereopathetic. Beck often did that, made new songs out of ones he's experimented with. Piss on the Door and Electric Music & the Summer People are good examples of him picking up old stuff and recycling it.

If you wanna know how to play this, it's in B tuning and the chords are E, F and C for most of the song (this is all by ear and watching the video). That's how i play it, but I don't know if it's really spot on.

Holy hell beck is a genius
Troy Cafe (and Atomic) were Beck's parents performance space, and this alce was a s legendary in LA as CBGB / 313 were in New York City.. The building was torn down 10 years ago. You can hear the crowd here calling for Loser.
It was a fun performance space with lots of great events/shows. Progress has it torn down for the train station. He closes the show with "Loser" which was on its way to becoming epic but wasn't quite there yet. I'll hope to upload it in the future.
Loser didn't come out till 1993 so either someone is calling him an actual loser or its after/during 1993. Setlist has the first time where he played Loser as July 1993.
just saying but setlist isn't always accurate. I’m sure at least 90% of the people who saw Beck perform before 1994 didn't remember the setlists, or put it up on the setlist website. while it is accurate sometimes, you can’t always be sure.

This isn't 1992, the guy yells loser, loser wasn't recorded and initially released until 1993 and then mainstream in 94
Maybe it was a friend or fan of his that had heard Loser played live previously.
There was, however, a band called LOSER that Beck was doing club gigs with around Los Angeles at this time. They were a sort of short-lived heavy metal group with a comedic bent. Beck played guitar in that band, and Steve Hanft, who directed the 'Loser' music video', was actually the band LOSER'S lead singer.
Loser was a fun band, Steve would near wreck his voice each show
Guns N Roses had written November Rain in the 80's, I think bands and singers have these bullet in the chamber and refine them over time.

I walked past Jack White on my way to a Beck concert. He was in some very snazzy Jack Skellington looking clothes, but with the end of the long sleeves frilled and he was so much taller than I expected (he's 6' 2", but I think he had on some very thick shoes as well).
Then, when we were seeing Beck perform, Jack White was introduced by Beck as Ghostface Killah for a special guest appearance. They had a ridiculous guitar duel where Beck played much better than I ever knew was possible... like, for anyone... not only for Beck. My mind was completely blown and I think he may not be human.
