I've been into the house scene since the late 80's early 90's in San Francisco. We had awesome boat parties and underground clubs. Then the Wicked Crew from UK invaded and gave free parties at Golden Gate Park, they were soooo GOOOD! 1995, I enlisted in the USMC. I didn't find a house scene when I was stationed in Okinawa in 1997 but hip hop was huge there, great clubs and DJs. Then I got stationed in S California dessert 29 Palms, and I searched for a house scene in LA, and I struck Gold at a live music venue called Coconut Teasers. It was an after party event every Sunday morning at 6AM called Does Your Mama Know? headlined by Louis Vega and Marquis Wyatt. It was very dark, low key with just the right amount diehard house music lovers. I went there by myself and it was PERFECT! At the same time, underground raves were exploding in LA and S Cali area including San Diego. Then I met some ravers at my duty station, Marines and Sailors, who took me to these crazy raves and it was OFF THE HOOK! I introduced those guys to deep house and took them to DYMK and Marquis loved me for it.

@@houseculturenet The journey hasn't ended. House music really is for life! The journey continued, but I stepped into The Twilight Zone, which I'll get into in a moment.
First, after my honorable discharge 1999, I drove back home to San Francisco just in time for a free outdoor day rave at SF Civic Center Plaza with DJ Sasha. He was such a shy person. Then I noticed that someone was taking photos of me with a professional camera from a distance. I thought I was just being paranoid so I ignored it. Anyway, the dance scene exploded in SF Bay Area with Massive Raves at the Home Depot warehouses in Oakland. Underground clubs I used to frequent became mainstream. And pills everywhere :)
But here's the kicker: Rave movies were made based on my experiences: A Midsummer Night's Rave, Groove, and Go were based loosely on me. I know this sounds crazy but it's true. I don't know how they know so much about me but I must've caught Hollywood people's all-seeing eyes. After all, Janet Jackson and other celebs were known to frequent DYMK. I firmly believe that I'm the original Truman Show.
Anyway, I married my Japanese fiance' and moved to Tokyo in 2000. I searched for deep house scene here and discovered the Body and Soul events, and also Francois K's solo events at the legendary underground club called Club Yellow. Dee Lite's Towa Tei events was there, too. United Future Org's Jazzin'. Caught Gilles Peterson there, Mark Farina, Kevin Yost, Mateo and Matos. Jazzanova at Club Ageha. And caught Kraftwerk at Makuhare Messe. But alas, I pumped the breaks when my first child was born in 2005 and I stopped partying and DJing. I've been DJing since 1980 with various mobile crews, and as a hobby up until 2005. Clean living since then.
Then 2015, "We are your friends" film came out, again based on me. It was as if the dance scene was calling me back. And sure enough, in 2016 I discovered Virtual DJ and I was amazed, so I built a battery power DJ rig, the first of it's kind, and started spinning at Tokyo parks for fun, and I had gone viral in downtown Tokyo. Unbelievable! Young chicks recognize me on the streets FFS. Living my best life at 58 Y O lol
Synchronicity is Very Real. "What you seek, is seeking you", I believe this now.
