►WE USE THIS CAMERA (B&H) - buff.ly/3rWqrra
►WE USE THIS SOUND RECORDER (AMAZON) - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
Stuff we use:
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/425k5rG
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/3WEuz0k
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv

What is your favorite part of wisdom?
James Cullen Bressack's per department organizational notes is a great idea, using highlighter and colors for different departments on the script. I never watched his interview, so now I'm pulling it up. czcams.com/video/8qXXmkzbymg/video.html . It doesn't matter how great your ideas or vision is, if you can't communicate it properly to the team in a way that they know exactly why you have something specific in mind. Seems like a great guy to work with!
Great to see you watch all the way until the end and discover JCB! Here is everything we have published with James - bit.ly/24jYJlF
The “falling into darkness, backwards”, but trusting the process-is the story of my life. I just finished my second feature and I’m currently taking meetings for representation.
All I’ve learned this past year about film/TV has been because of you all, film courage. Not film school, not NYU, not UCLA/USC… but film courage.
Remember me, because I will be a guest one day. I promise.
@@filmcourage Awesome, thanks for the playlist, will check it out!
How when anyone who hears it goes “ahhhh. Why didn’t I think of that?”
Man... one of my favorite advisers in the industry!
Blessed to hear him.
HELLO MARK 👋 😁
Great show. Real filmmakers talking about real experiences.
Thank you! We appreciate you watching!
So basically directors need to be actors' private psychologists 😂
In the same way DPs are camera technicians, directors should be the “people technicians”
16:10 It took me such a long time to understand what she was saying here but yes exactly right!! If you allow the emotions of the scene come from the actor’s interpretation of the motivations you’ve given to the character, then the scene will unfold much more naturally for the actors, encouraging a stronger bond between the audience and the story.. But you have to trust the actors enough with the characters’s motivations and not directly steer every emotion the actor is going through in front of the camera.
This was another great piece of advice !!
It’s such a complete intersection of the industry, from hiring (set etc) to casting to lighting. If you give people the chance to be people you get something that’s authentic and unique.
I enjoyed every minute of this; thank you 😊👍
This is am incredible compilation. Thank you for putting this together
Thank you so much!
Great video thank you
This is gold
This is spot on. The trap of many all in one filmmakers today is to focus too much on great and cinematography and too little on the actors.
What a treasure trove! Thank you very much.
Cheers Allan!
Let's flick it!
Let flick it !
Miluju Marka Travise. Bylo to první video (i s M. Haugem), které jsem od FC viděla. První z mnoha, které mě učily a pořád učí, jak vyprávět příběh ❤
Skvělé! Miluju to!
Hi😅
I've always wondered this. There is so much mediocrity in film. Given their intelligence and knowledge of film history - and they're ability to measure quality against the greatest films of all time in any genre - how can an intelligent and conscientious director not know in their heart they're creating shite?
