You have beautiful collection of Hoya, I love your videos, so inspirational. I am slowly starting my plant collection, in the past, I have bought two hoya, and both died on me. Today I actually bought one and wanted to buy two, I might go back and buy the other one next week. I bought Hoya Globulosa, I just loved the leave coloring, such a pretty green with the clay pot looks so stunning. Next week getting Hoya pot of gold.

in my experience when my hoyas start putting out long tendrils without producing leaves it means it needs something to climb on. Once i have placed it on a trellis, the leaves start to activate and start growing. Also the blooms on your moms krinkle 8 might be stress blooms. hoyas will put out peduncles and bloom when the plant is stressed as well.

Ha ha Claire's got the Hoya bug 😂😂 Regarding the trellising there are some good tutorial videos on CZcams but what I generally do is if the tendrils are reaching up I put them on a trellis which is generally something like the U-shaped bamboo canes or I make my own trellises with coloured floristry wire bent into any shape I feel like doing at the time. Just make sure the growing tip of the tendril is facing upwards when attaching it to whatever it is going to climb and any time you're rearranging the Hoya on the trellis. I can send you some pics via Instagram of some of my trellises if you like. Good luck with your new Hoya babies 💚💚

Oh my goodness! I love Hoyas and your collection is fabulous! I believe the trendles should not be cut back because that's where most of the new growth and flowers develop. The Hoya linearis is a slow grower, so yours has actually grown a lot! I now have five Hoyas in my collection but this video has given me serious Hoya envy!

  • @lorac500
    @lorac500 Před 2 lety +3

I was not a fan of Hoyas at first, then I got into them like you. I have several now. Your Hoyas are beautiful! Especially the last one with the 3 leaves!
When you mentioned cutting the tendrils, I knew that I had to reach out to you. I learned from watching CZcams videos...Planterina's and others...not to cut the tendrils since they are how the plant grows. And that when you give them something like a trellis to grow on it encourages leaf production. I use the u shaped bamboo trellises and others. A few are not on trellises. I hope this helps.💚

Lovely! In my experience, Krohnianas grow quickly once they get going. I have the same super silver one, although my leaves are much smaller, yours is gorgeous. They can be slow to start with - they are a classic Hoya that might sit for a few months doing nothing, and then BOOM!

Hi Claire, beautiful Hoyas! I love the Sarawak! It was on my wish list plant for a while and then I saw your unboxing video and I was like I got to get it NOW! 😬
I have found that Hoyas love trellises. I think that they grow faster that way. Especially big leafed Hoyas. You can also wrap the tendrils around which makes the plant tidier.
Undulata is now on my wish list as it’s just gorgeous! I think that you might like Hoya sunrise which gets pretty red leaves when sun stressed. I would also recommend heuschkeliana as it’s beautiful 💚

Hi new to your channel. Your Hoya are gorgeous & so healthy. I own both Pubicalyx splash & Gracillis and they don't even look like they same plant. I believe Gracillis is mixed with Lacunosa and it shows on all the new growth. Gracilis leaves are much smaller, shorter and a bit teardrop shaped. T here are some Hoya hoops you can make our purchase to give your whips something to grab on to. If you put them on a trellis or hoop you will get much quicker leaf growth as the Hoya won't feel like it has to wander to find support. Your Sarawak is Stunning.Yes you can air layer hoya as long as you are careful. I don't think I would cut your Sarawak yet. So so beautiful, wow! 💚🌱😊

She gets western afternoon sun which equals burgundy leaves. Beautiful! My friend has one and the vines are where her flowers spur from. She wraps them. Keep it in that pot. That's my only choice for it... 😏. Maybe a 🤏 more growth next spring. 😊

All your plants look so healthy. When it comes to Hoya's I'm surprised they're doing so well in jars - number one because I thought they needed to drain and number 2 when the day comes to repot you're gonna have h*** to pay with the root ball and a jar.
Cut off the tendrills? No, no, no! That's where your flower is going to be -I think they sometimes have to be two feet long before they'll bloom - follow the tendril down and look by each new pair of leaves and you'll see an extra little piece that's the Bloom stem. When they bloom the scent is stronger at night and I think they do better in a hanging basket because they get so big and they can vine down. I created little metal shower curtain rings connected to a wire to hold the tendrils down as they grow in my hanging baskets-works great. I'm trying to just water mine when they're almost dry. Stick your fingers in the pot - if you feel dampness don't water.

You have a beautiful collection! Quite sure your Krohnianas are actually Lacunosas, but man they are gorge. There’s been a lot of debate over this in the community-which you may totally already know. Krohniana has heart shaped leaves throughout and is much harder to find-maybe moreso in my part of the world. I would definitely trellis your vining ones because they’ll explode with growth. I tend to cut mine only if they’re at the size I’d like them to stay at.

Hi ;) Your Hoya's are so Beautiful 😍 and BIG 😍😍😍 thanks for sharing... And your Hoya Publicalyx is a Hoya Royal Hawaiian Purple Pubicalyx (you can tell by the new purple leaves). And your Hoya Sarawak looks more like Hoya Latifolia (the dinner plate Hoya) it's seems quite large to be a Sarawak. I have a Sarawak myself and it's a bigger leaf but that seams to be twice the size of any Sarawak I've seen and is much similar to a Latifolia. And Sarawak's kinda bend down towards the bottom of the leaf. It's so frustrating all the mislabeling going on in the plant industry.

I’ve heard to never cut back the long tendrils because it stops new growth! 🤔

Maybe something like the krinkle 8 or krohniana? They're both very chilled and fairly low maintenance 💚

Halo:) , I was looking for the same hoya " sarawak" as You have, and i found Hoya sulawesii GPS 8867? Maybe yours is olso GPS 8867, not sarawak. Best wishes :)

  • @juliedavison-white1496

Hi I have a Sarawak her leaves are yellow, her leaves are also quiet soft and flexible, she gets good sun. What am I doing wrong? Your plant is so beautiful and green.

How long have you had her for? Often with hoyas when they become soft/squishy it's down to a watering imbalance in my experience... I did make a hoya care vid a while back too 💚

Am I the only one who identifies this big hoya as a latifolia, not a sarowak?

Your Hoyas are beautiful ! The krohniana I believe it’s called super silver. The other name is actually a racial slur
