This dude! We San Diegans get it! When he questions his loyalty as a fan because the owners of his favorite team obviously do not care about the fans, that was us with the Chargers and the Spanos family. 5 years later, I am glad they are gone, and I am not alone in that sentiment.
Contrast garbage owners like Dean Spanos with the Padres’ owner Peter Seidler, who listened to us SD fans about bringing back the brown, then signing Manny, and just continuing to invest in the team. Seidler listens to us, he cares about us, hell, he IS ONE OF US! The guy runs the team like a fan. Love every bit of it.

Lifelong Red Sox fan, I’m also reconsidering my fandom. Funny Brockman said he’d be a Padres fan, they have Bogey, Tatis, Orsillo calling games, and Preller spends like he’s laundering cartel money, just what I want as a fan! We are top 3 every year in cost for fan experience and THIS is how they’re approaching free agency now? If they’re done investing in the team so am I (and a lot of my friends and fans in Boston agree, for fans not from here).

Brockman, I'm from Boston and been sick & tired of Red Sox management for a long time. I was pretty much done after they fired Dave Dombrowski less than one year after winning a World Series. And now they let their homegrown stars go? It's ridiculous.
I’m done with the Sox. Hardcore fan since ‘86. I could tolerate losing Ruth, Clemens, Lester, Schwarber, Renfroe…but Betts, Vazquez, Bogaerts, and possibly Devers? Not my team anymore.

Money. The Red Sox (who have the highest ticket prices in baseball and literally print $$) brought in Chaim Bloom from Tampa to downgrade into a mid market team that doesn't spend much $$. The billionaire John Henry got his 4 world series rings. Now it's about squeezing the team and the fans for every last nickel.
I'm a diehard Sox fan, and I'm pissed Bogey is gone, but that contract is absolutely absurd. It would have been completely stupid to match San Diego's offer. Now, if they lose Devers too.....
They could have signed home for 170 for 6 easy in the spring.... we just screwed around

Let's keep in mind Andrew Benitendi was traded, Christian Vasquez was traded, Mookie was traded, they allowed Eduardo Rodriguez to walk away he ends up singing with Detroit, Xander walks and signs with the Padres. Red Sox have let alot of talented players leave but never regain the equal value in a replacement player, I think Boston messed up getting rid of Dave Dombroski who was more aggressive and came from a smaller market team like the Tigers. Chaim Bloom comes from a smaller organization like the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and he very very passive with the move he made. Ben Cherington was a aggressive GM when he came to Boston from the Diamondbacks organization, prior to Ben we had Theo Esptein we need a more aggressive GM than Chain Bloom.
They let him go a year after winning the world series 🤦♂️

Cubs fan here, I’m in the same boat. These owners act like they aren’t making any money and can’t afford these players. I get it, don’t just throw money at all players but we gutted our team and didn’t have a plan in place to replace them. They also butchered Wrigley Field.

While it's frustrating to lose a star player, giving a 30 year old an 11 year contract is nuts in any sport. It's easy to blame ownership but Bogarts and his agent were asking above market value for this guy and the Red Sox didn't think he was worth it.
The 11 years is just a funky way of reducing the AAV impact of the contract

Honest question for baseball fans out there. I’ve never been a bandwagon fan before, I’m a lifelong Angels fan going back to the Moe Vaugh grey and blue uniforms days. They have been my team forever. But I moved to San Diego, and the Angels have been a disappointment every year for the last 10 years it’s seems. For those not familiar with the Red Sox home - the fan experience is incredibly expensive. We are not interested in building the owners other assets. They either need to be fully invested in the Red Sox or they need to sell.
I agree with Chris. The red Sox shelled out 105 mil for a 29 year old Japanese rookie. The Red Sox are historic, but they're paying for shoddy contracts.

I was a Pirate fan. I have been with them since 1960. I finally got tired of pulling for an organization that has no interest in winning. How many times have they gone into the "rebuilding" mode and jettisoned all of the players who became too expensive? So, after the last scattering of the best players I jumped ship. I looked for a team that pays their best and is not afraid to seek out free agents that will help them win. Cost be damned. Since I could NEVER root for the Yankees you probably have surmised that I now cheer for the men in Dodger blue. I am a happy man watching "MY" team win 111 games and compete for the title. Has anyone seen Trea Turner?

You can't compare the Tampa Bay Rays to the Sox. The Rays run their team the way they do out of necessity. They are an expansion team in a smaller market and their revenue is just not the same. Fenway park is THE MOST EXPENSIVE place in MLB to go see a game and they are failing to reinvest their fan's money in a respectful and responsible way.
Chris. FSG only paid 200 million for LFC, not 2 billion. The clubs now probably worth about 4 billion
