Same here. I think that was Gregg Williams’ retirement/resignation so he’d get paid his contract without quitting. Anyone think that it’s possible proof that Gase has no authority over defense (like Ditka/Ryan ‘85 Bears)? Gas could’ve voided that Cover Zero if he has authority.
I'm disappointed he shut down his co-host talking about Bounty-gate! it's literally the entire context for why Williams calls plays just to injure players.

my team does it all of the time for years now. they will beat good teams then turn around and lose to a bad team. in fact i remember at least one year when they beat good teams but then turned around and lost something like 3 games in a row to all bad teams then wound up missing the playoffs. their coach has a losing record against losing teams. have you guessed who that team is yet? they just accomplished the feat again last night. monday night. that would be the Pittsburgh Steelers. it can be extremely frustrating being a Steelers fan

50 years to the day before yesterday's Jets debacle, backup Raiders QB Darryl Lamonica threw a 50 yard Hail Mary in the last 10 seconds of the game that bounced off the hands of a Jets defender and was caught for the winning TD by Warren Wells.
I remember watching that game! Patriots fan here but from 66-74 I was big time Jets fan.
Lamonica was second year starter in 1968 with the Raiders, after traded from Bills as starter in 1966.

I've been watching college and pro football for over 50 years and don't know if I've ever seen an 8 man rush before. If I did it would have been somebody crazy like Jerry Glanville calling it. The idea that a DC who was trying to win the game in that situation would make that call is almost inconceivable.

What it really was was Williams demonstrating why he's never had a winning full season as a head coach, and why he has almost as many double-digit losses as he has wins. He lets the little head do the thinking instead of the big one.

Actually, the Jets would still have the 1st pick with a W yesterday.
In a tie with the Jags, the AFC record matters (both 1-X), then the record in common opponents played.
Jets are 0-4 in such games (Cleveland still to come), Jags are 1-3 with the Colts still to come.
The minimum of four such games is also cleared to make this tiebreaking procedure applicable.
Jets could have won yesterday and still get the 1st pick only if they lost out after that.
Now THAT is why I am sorry for Rich (apart of so many other things)
The most hilarious outcome to this whole saga is the Jets go 0-16 and either Lawrence is as big of a bust as Jamarcus Russell, or he holds out and ends up in New England somehow.

Trevor can still come out and enter the draft. He just has to make it known publicly that he won't play for the Jets, if they draft him. It doesn't stop the team from calling his name, but the last thing the Jets need is to be forced to trade Trevor, because he won't play for them. You almost never get full value for a player when other teams have the upper hand.
As a lifelong Dolphins fan, I actually feel sorry for Jets fans. I never thought I would say that. The only constellation for Dolphins fans for the last 20 mediocre years after the Shula era ended, has been the fact that the Jets are in the same division.

Broncos fans are probably secretly happy about this. Gregg Williams told his guys to go after Rypien near the end of their game once it was a sealed loss for the Jets.
As a Bills fan it was one of the most stressful games I've ever watched. I picked the Raiders in my survivor pool where I'm heads up with someone. (Funny enough they picked the Vikings vs the Jags...) and the 2 worst teams all most upset us both. At the same time... I'm scared as heck that you guys will get Trevor and he will be a top 5 Qb. If he is a top 10-15 in his prime, I will be happy. But god... give us a few fun years in our division. Just imagine if Trevor, Allen, and Tua all hit their peak....
