Thanks for your video. My 15 Year old Haier stopped working after I moved it to a different room. I got the starter relay through ebay for six bucks. Took five minutes to put it in and fridge is working great.
Thanks Bro! really helped me out trouble shooting my mini fridge, the relay was bad on mine too.
Update. I got the replacement relay, placed it, and it worked. That is, until I unplugged it to place the cooler. I retested everything and everything was great. So, I watched a video of another fridge repairman, who opened the relay, to explain the long term damage issue of the actual resistor. So, I opened the relay, placed the new relay's disk into the old relay housing, plugged it in, and works!!! I think a video taking apart the relay housing to show the damage tot he resistor would be valuable too!! Just a helpful hint. Both you and the other repairman really helped.
Quinn's Toy Carousel awesome!!! thanks!!!
Hello can you tell me where I can find the parts for my Haier or where you found the starter relay or the overload protector? Thanks
like how you showed how to test the relays. I never see that on other videos.
Great video, thanks for posting!
Jack Schitz thank you. If you find it informational, please like and subscribe!!!
My fridge doesn't cool enough. Takes a long time for the freezer but it freezes. Fridge is just cool enough on the highest setting what do you recommend I should check?
Perfect video. I have a Wine Enthusiast Cooler wbs-133cd and looks exactly like this. Having no experience, I followed your video and BAM, starter relay bad!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!
Quinn's Toy Carousel thank you. If you like my videos please like, share, and subscribe!!!
The Other Guy .
Your video was very entertaining. I promise to be very careful. Thanks for taking time to make the video.
Great video, thanks
Puns !!!! And good info. Thanks
Thx buddy it worked.
What a lousy spot for the copper pipe...They could have easily moved it out of the way by design if someone would have cared...Enjoyed your video..It was informative and cool..!!
Good video thank you
Nice one Bro. We have the same freezer
thanks so much seriously
Nice job
perfect help thank you
dang! 10k views! lol.
I'm have one it started on off won't cool some any idea great video
I installed a 3 in 1 Starter on my white Westinghouse freezer and the machine turns on but continues not to freeze as supposed to. Is it possible freon is out? What should I check next?
Can a bad overload switch prevent the fridge from running? I replaced the relay and compressor readings are 6, 19, and 22 roughly.
still helpful in 2023
chest freezer compressor trying to run, but seems like something preventing it from doing so. Mind sharing how to use the multimeter to check on appliaces?
LOL, I was holding my breath as you were trying to put the cover back on waiting for the shock. Would have been nice if you had showed the ohms meter and the readings. This part is often over looked, I have a meter but would not know the correct reading.
Oswego Falls every brand of compressor have different ohm value. as long as the Run and Start winding values, add together equate the value of the common winding, the compressor is good.
It should show on the fridge it'll say rated current something like 1.3a
If he was shocked there would have been a good chance that he wouldn't have been able to upload the video. lol
Great video! What are the normal/ functional resistance ranges for the start relay, compressor, and overload? Thanks!
wow. . . this is an old video. I already forgot about it. Basically when you measure ohms on the common, start, and run poles, the common pole should read the highest. Both ohms values fore poles start and run should equate or be closed the value of the common pole.
How many wires connected to the overload protector?? I got exact one like that but the wires was unplugged
Thanks for your video. I have a freezer that is not cooling enough and I think that this is going to help me. When you take your readings with the ohm meter are you looking for a certain value or for continuity? Thanks
Robert Lawrence different compressor has different values. thus what i am looking for is the common, run, and start poles. both the run and start poles ohm readings should equate the common pole when you add them together. if not, something is wrong with the compressor windings. If they have no readings, chances are the windings on that particular pole is open. which means you have a dead compressor
Hi bro, what do you think could be the problem with my Logik fridge freezer if it works for some hours but then shuts off and won't turn back on again until I disconnect it from the plug for some hours then when plug in again it works? I've replaced the starter relay and the defrost timer? I don't understand what could be the issue
I have the same little fridge compressor works but it wont cold!! Im pretty sure its low on freon but where is the suction port on this one? Which pipe its the suction pipe to charge it? Thanks in advance!
Hi, I just bought a used Haier HA10TG21SS refrigerator (seller said it was 2 years old). I plugged it in about 9 hours after it was delivered. It was making a lot of noise in the upper right rear side next to the freezer part. I can't describe the noise. It wasn't popping, and it didn't really sound like gurgling. But I think I might've plugged it in too soon. I read the manual afterwards, and it said to wait 24 hours. Do you know what could be making the noise?
Help! I ordered replacement relay and overload for my haier mini fridge. But my fridge was missing those parts since it was given to me. My question is what cables go to the relay? And which onse to the overload? I have a white, black and red cables. Please help
My haier freezer chest isn't getting cold. And it makes a clicking sound but the freezer still isn't getting cold at all
Replace the relay. That may help.
thanks
Hi I have a question, does Haier use generally LG fridge compressors as I see in the video? Are Haier fridges good quality and reliable ? Thanks
Excellent video! I have P6R8MC OR0603... I can't seem to find a relay..any suggestions?
p6r8mc is the the start relay. you can find it on ebay.
What start relay did you use? I was going to get a universal one but they come in different resistance values.
Skyler Colwell Hello Skyler. You can get one from here:
pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=331328926827&alt=web
I just replaced both the overload protector and the start relay but the compressor doesn't start. It just gets hot. Any ideas? Thanks.
ohm the poles to the body. If there is reading, chances are, your compressor is shorted. If there is no reading ohm the poles. If there is no reading on one of the poles, chances are you have a short winding.
Ok I have a Frigidaire chest Type frezer and I got if from my niece got it home cleaned it good inside n out n in where the motor is n plug it up n it starts smoking from the little black box that’s on the motor it has a yellow n a white cord going to it and the bottom of it is hot could that be what’s wrong with it or what’s your opinion??? Please answer soon cuz I got a bunch of meat going to ruin thanks
Does it have a capacitor?
Just checked and I have the same problem with the starter relay. I was wondering where you got the universal relay? The old relay has P6R8MC OR0411
Andrew B,
Thanks for asking. What you can do is take the relay to an appliance parts store and match it with one. The problem is that some parts stores are very reluctant to sell you any if you are not a contractor. The reason is because they don't want unqualified people to hurt themselves via electrocution or anything similar.
If all else fail, you can order one from Ebay. Here is a site to one:
Check out this item I found on eBay: pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=331328926827&alt=web
Please becareful and be safe touching electrical components. Unplug your appliances before working on them.
Please like the video if it helps u. I have many more refrigeration videos to come.
I have a Haier 10.1 cu-ft refrigerator. The refrigerator is cooling properly, however, the freezer is not getting cold enough. Any thoughts?
Linton Arrowood there are various things that can be wrong with your unit. You could have a clogged drier filter, clogged capillary tube, or low on Freon.
Thank you for this video alas I have no idea where you were sticking those prongs or what the values were on the voltmeter
+binthrdonthat The pole windings that I am checking are called Run, Start, and Common Poles or windings.
+The Other Guy Thank you
Thanks for
I have a HAIER hc27sw20rb mini fridge in my semi truck. I hear it click on and then it clicks off about a second later and it will not cool anymore. Could this be the solution to the problem? Also while it's plugged in the motor feels really warm I don't know if that's supposed to be that way
Big Papa I could be put of Freon. However, before coming to that conclusion, I'd check to see if the compressor is shorted.
What are the good and bad readings?
When you ohm, you are looking for an open circuit.
Thanks for posting this video. Where did you find the universal starter relay? There are so many to choose from I dont want to purchase the wrong one.
Ebay
Thank you!
So, what resister did you get when you checked the compressor? You put the multimeter on there, but you didn't tell us what resistance you got to confirm is was in working condition. Thanks!
Sean Hayes check out the responses in the comments. It has been addressed.
Sean Hayes just test the continuity all pins.
I'm having a problem with my Haier, I'm going to be looking online for answers to, what mine is doing is kicking on for like 5 seconds and kicks off, does it every few minutes, what is weird is the fridge is in the safe zone temps but the freezer is above the safe zone temps, freezer is hitting about 22 degrees when its supposed to be below 10. The fridge is only a couple years old and I figure my warranty has expired anyway so I may as well do it myself..
It is set to coldest setting btw
My haier freezer will just have the green light on but just clicks, what could it be?
My Haier model HRT02WNC blew a huge spark out of the back where the fan is and that was that. Any suggestion for me to try and fix it?
you may want to ohm the relays and the compressor windings.
Thanks!
i have the same fridge you have, someone gave it to me. when i plug it in, i first heard a hissing sound, then nothing, and nothing worked. ideas?
Sounds like you may have a bad compressor or a leak somewhere. Check for leaks.
mine took a few days to come back on after we flipped the breaker from running to many things at the same time, it did return to normal, but the next time the breaker got flipped it never came back on again, any ideas? is there a reset or fuse?
cheeseballpictures hello, if you have a multi meter you can follow the directions here to diagnose it. there may be multiple reasons why your freezer died. it could be that your filter drier is plugged. I would touch the compressor as you connect your device to see if it comes on. if it comes on, you should hear a wining from the motor.
mine makes a lot of noise
Shoulda gave meter readings
How did you get the silver tube off that is blocking the other screw?
Silver tube?
@@theotherguy3083 yes, but I just figured it out. Its removed.
Now I have to figured out how to remove the housing. I've removed the 2 screws.
I just put both pieces the relay and the other one. But the compressor want's to start and just cut off in like 3 seconds can you help me please??
Thank you.
I unwhittingly pressed the red button in an outlet tester ( outlet w/o) tester and the effect was it tripped the fuse and zapped ⚡️the mini fridge that was plugged in the lower if the duo outlet. Mini fridge is in loan/ from neighbor 😱 and has stopped working ☠️
Pls help!!!
Changed out the same parts in mine and still didn’t work
How much was relay and where can u get it.
JaySmitty33 couple bucks on ebay
not in any store?
where can i find the relay in any stores?
you can get it on ebay
The Other Guy what is the part number for the overload protector and the starter relay to look for on eBay?
Will a bad relay switch cause the compressor to get really hot?
No. But a low freon or clogged expansion valve does
@@theotherguy3083 ok caise i hear the clicking or popping of the relay switch and the compressor is really hot and not cooling the fridge
@@boycemontez4962 sounds like u have a plugged expansion valve. It is too expensive to fix it just go buy a new one
@@theotherguy3083 ok I probably will. Thanks for the advice!
How come there is no fan
This system done need fan
Why didn't you put a Bullet Piercing Valve on it and check the refrigerant?
Because you dont have to. Besides that would be the last thing a technician would do.
my compressor turns on..it just doesn't get "Cold" inside the fridge. ..I have the haier 4 cubic feet
+dudenamedmike1 Chances are #1 if your refrigerant has leaked, you have a clogged drier filter.
+The Other Guy what's a clogged drier filter? I have the same problem and it smells like something leaked inside?
arismommy2 A clogged drier filter is when the filter that filters your oil and Freon can no longer filter because of debris. Similar to a oil filter in the car. BTW, if it smells like something leaked inside, it usually is. Perhaps when someone was dethawing the freezer, they may have punctured the evaporator inside. The evaporator is that thin little piece of aluminum that always seems to ice up when your unit is plugged into the wall.
the link doesnt work anymore
sorry for late reply. but Google the relay and match it on ebay.
What if a Reb bull fridge was freezing everything after changing the temp switch? After about 2 days
Huh?
@@theotherguy3083 I am asking you for advice..When I got the red bull fridge it wouldn’t turn on for more then ten mins ... I replaced the temp switch and it doesn’t shut off now but freezes everything...any idea what's going on
@@rahrah8076 if it is a fridge, did you buy the right temp switch? There are freezer temp switch and then there are fridge switch. The fridge switch usually shuts down between 50 to 40 degrees F above the freezing of water. If your fridge is freezing everything, chances are you bought the wrong switch and it needs to be calibrated to shut off at between 50 to 40 degrees. Check your temp switch.
The Other Guy the guy said the parts looked the same but the end piece was longer
@@rahrah8076 it's the rating. Check the temp rating.
Mine just leaking
Can you please give me the relay part number so I know which one to get. Thanks. I have the same fridge.
Please the responses. I have already given them
@@theotherguy3083 I see a lot of replies I was hoping not to have to go through and look through each one of them just to find the part number any info you can give me would be great is it just a one pin relay that I need to get but I see those for eight dollars on Amazon
I found a few links you put in other comments but when I click them it takes me to eBay and says cannot find page you are looking for.
@@kevinpeyton33 the little unit is called Refrigerator PTC Starter Relay.
Morning so I looked up the exact part number and on Amazon it’s $68 I see generic ones how do I know it will work on mine. Like I stated earlier I clicked on the links you provided for eBay but it does t find anything.
What U urging 4, U dont even show the reading on the compressor,SIR
my chest freezer is leaking a black oil
black oil. sounds like you have a blown compressor.
Hello everyone, I'm looking for a system to cool down a room of 200 to 300 sqft which can be alternative to traditional air conditioners (ac)..
+Satish Gupta If you are talking about a living area, you'll need a small "window shaker" ac unit.
If you live in a humid area a dehumidifier is a big help.
When you check the Oms in the compressor therminals the overload and relay. You didn't explain the correct ohms measurment. No help out all! sorry!
Luis Brenes I am sorry, how did you want it to be explained? Basically all you need to know is the value of ohms on the Run and Start windings added together need to equal to the common winding. If they aren't equal to the common winding ohms reading, then something is wrong with the those windings.
I have a millimeter with several ohms settings, Do I put it on 200 or 200k?
Also do the two top prongs add right on, or near the number as 1 top 1 bottom prong.
Two top one way is 20.2 an to top the other way is 20.2
Then one top one bottom is 11.3 + one top one bottom the other way is 9.4
11.3+9.4=?
ethan wright every compressor will have different sets of values when you ohm the windings. What you need to keep in mind is this, the first 2 windings that you ohmed resulted in the value of 20, the other resulted in 11.3 and 9.4. when you add the 2 least values together, you should not get less than 20 ohms. If they are less than 20 ohms, your compressor is dead. meaning you have a shorted winding. those small numbers should equal the highest valued number.
as it stands, yours compressor is good.
I also made a video showing folks how to determine the common, run, and Start Windings. you can look in my video logs by going into my CZcams channel
My refrigerator was not working and i left i off for a day and checked next day and it still didn’t worked then i kicked it and it turned on 🤣

how do u overide a fridge that reacts to outside temperature? man its the stupidest thing ever
Check your seals
lmao i jus got it 2 days ago. i mean if i put the seting on #4 n the temperature outside is too cold it wont work but if i put it on 7 it stays on forever n the compresor gets real hot. so i dont no im not realy hapy bout this

You don't explain what you're testing and why. You don't explain what results you're seeking. You don't mention the cost of the replacement parts. If you're testing for continuity, you should mention that and if you're testing for voltage....likewise. I have a failed Haier freezer and want to repair it with no refrigeration experience. I've learned only that your starter relay failed. You need a more detailed explanation of the testing procedures.
