    Your tutorial is perfect. Unfortunately for me, I’m still frustrated because I wanted to remove the top so I could clean under the keyboard only to find removing the keyboard looks super complicated! Lol. Hopefully, I can find a good tutorial on that too! Thanks so much for this video.

      I also have a noisy fan that needs replacing! I followed the video and opened the laptop up, managed to get the motherboard up as the fan is accessed from underneath, but then couldn't see how to remove the fan itself! Would you be able to give any pointers or instructions?! Thanks in advance, any help appreciated!

    • @shubhshar
      @shubhshar Před 4 lety +1

      @@tracieatkins1636 as far as I remember, there were some 3 screws that support the fan module in its place on the motherboard. I'm not exactly sure about the structure now, neither do I have pics for pointing, but I'm sure only the screws need to be undone to get the fan out from underneath.

    GUYS! To anyone stuck with the 3 screws in the disc drive : I have the solution!!
    I tried to unscrew them with the smallest screwdriver I own but ended up stripping the screw completely....
    HERE is the solution: Apply a little superglu on the screw, then put a small nut on the screw (nut diameter must not exceed screw diameter), make sure the nut is centered with screw and fill inside the nut with superglu. Leave it to dry for a few hours and then turn the nut with a spanner or pliers .
    Worked great for me!! Good luck

      Marco Perez-MacCollum how did you clean the fan?

    • @KefirGrain
      @KefirGrain Před 7 lety +1

      Saretnoc use a thick, round artist brush preferably made from natural bristles [to avoid creating static electricity, which can damage electronic chip components] to clean the fins and a hair dryer set on cold to blow away the dust as you brush. Never use a vacuum cleaner because they can suck too hard and spin the fan much too fast, more than it is designed to handle.

    Thanks for posting this ... Reminds me more of an aicraft mechanic pointing out the "non intuitive" tricks to take it apart (remove all screws, doesn't open because a hidden clip HP wants impatient people to break off, lol). Anyway, for repairs and upgrades .. AVOID HP. Period. Lack of easy access and a design making it almost impossible for a novice to upgrade memory or a hard drive is rediculous. Most other brands have small access doors on the back to replace a HDD or memory. Come on, what idiots at HP came up with this idea???

    • @ananjaser1211
      @ananjaser1211  Před 7 lety +6

      cdcollura it's such a shame how their new designs destroy any sort of upgradability without watching videos or following complex guides. Taking the laptop apart for the first time was extremely tedious and time consuming. They slowly started to limit upgradability with 2015 models by adding 1 Bay for rams only instead of rams hdd and wifi for a sleeker look. And now they ditched it all for a uni body like design. This is seriously backwards thinking.

    Thank you for showing me the HIDDEN screws place, I had 2 hidden ones. It was soo annoying. But What is more annoying is that corner, I can't get it off!!! I snapped my knife! I snapped my credit card! Trust me that corner is soo difficult to snap off! with so little gap!!
    Anyhow I needed to remove my corrupt hard work, so luckily I was just managed to remove it through that 1 inch space.
    I still can't remove that top though. I most likely damaged some stuff because I heard a lot of snapping. But I rebooted, everything working fine so far. keyboard included.
    Now I want to know his will this motherboard support faster drive because my current corrupt one is slow, malfunctioned and I rather invest in a new one.
    Anyways this video was indeed helpful for those who can remove the top part. I just needed to remove the hard drive so it was luckily in my reach at the bottom.
    If my new hard drive doesn't work with this, I'm going to put this in the trash where it belongs.

      +Herb Karasic I bought the 9.5mm 2 years ago and used it across all my HP laptops, Pavilion G6 / PAV 15 N and PAV 15 P So yeah i am pretty sure the 9.5mm is the way to go. Btw make sure to put the SSD in the Primary Slot and the HDD in the optical drive bay since the SSD needs sata6gb/s while HDDs work fine with 3gb/s

Unfortunately, when putting them back I broke two or more pins on the keyboard socket connector and now most of the keys won't work (Power button and Touchpad still works). I still would like it to be fixed even though I'm using it already with an external USB keyboard. I found some tutorials about soldering the pins but I'm not confident to do it. I'm also thinking of buying a motherboard replacement but obviously they're too expensive. Hoping someone could help me.

      +Santiago Hernández well , if you used the laptop is a dusty environment then i would assume that the fan was damaged due to heavy dust , or the fan is just dusty and needs rough cleaning , eathier way you need to take a look inside the computer , 1 year in a dusty environment should be enough for alot of dust to build up

    My cover wont open, all screws opened, doesn't come off though. Stuck around the power button even though the edges are "open".

    I bought this Laptop 2 years ago for MYR 2599 (577 Euro)
    I'm now in Europe, and they're selling older models, which are weaker, for 599 Euro - and a similar model for 999 Euro. We're talking about 2 years later. Why are the prices in Europe so much higher???

      My guess is taxes. Generally electronics are cheapest in the US tho if you compare the average iirc

      @@harshjain1207 Don't do it. I tried it shortly after this comment was posted to discover that it is not replaceable unless you know how to solder it back into place which is not an easy task at all. I destroyed the laptop in the process of attempting to replace it without soldering.
