Navien NaviCirc Recirculation Valve
The benefit of recirculation in a domestic hot water system is that we get hot water out closer to the fixtures and provide faster hot water coming out of that faucet. It's a water saving device and it makes a better experience for the end user.
When it comes to recirculation, it's easy to do when you have new construction, but when you're doing remodeling or retrofit it can be much more difficult. Navien introduced the NaviCirc™ valve to make that much simpler. Instead of having to run a dedicated return line for a recirculation system, the NaviCirc™ valve allows us to use the cold-water supply line as a return line back to the water heater.
When installing a NaviCirc™ valve, it will generally be placed under the fixture furthest from the water heater connected between the stops for that faucet, between the hot and cold-water lines.
When the circulator on the water heater comes on hot water will flow out through the supply line, across the NaviCirc™ valve, and back to the water heater through the cold-water supply.
The NaviCirc™ valve is a thermostatic valve so once the hot water reaches this valve it will close off and stop that recirculation, resulting in hot water now almost to the point of the faucet.
When recirculating with a NaviCirc™ valve and using an NPE series tankless water heater, you still have many of the exact same options I would have with a dedicated return line including the setup of intelligent preheating, a daily schedule to run your recirculation system or the option to use the HotButton®. With the NaviCirc™ valve, installation has also become much easier because it reduces the amount of piping required underneath the unit. You can refer to the installation manual for that information.
The NaviCirc™ valve can be installed with the NPE-A series, which has a built-in circulator, or it can also be installed with an NPE-S series, the NPN non-condensing and with our combi-boilers.
The NaviCirc™ valve allows you to have recirculation with our tankless water heaters or our combi’s.
If you have an existing system, it can be added after the fact, or if you're installing a new tankless water heater, it will work, either way, you can talk to your installer about that, or you can visit our website Navieninc com.

What a great item, another reason to get my customers to go with Navien. I have been sold on them ever since the local supply house set up a training class with the reps. years ago! Navien has been my go to brand for all my residential and commercial customers. Now I have another tool in my box.

I liked it so much I installed this unit in my own home along with my NPE unit.
We are running out of water in Colorado. Think this will be a good start to reducing wasted cold water. Surprised this product or dedicated return line has not been part of code..... Great product!

Hi, I'm replacing two takagis w/out recirc. Can I just replace the lead tankless with one of these naviens and the device and keep the secondary tankless? Or do I have to replace both units? Thanks
I’m having issues getting the A2 to run recirculation more than 3 minutes with the Hot Button regardless of settings. I do have the NaviCirc Valve installed. I used one of the Navian contractors to install my system but they weren’t familiar with the Hot Button. Any input is appreciated. We aren’t getting hot water to distant fixture quick enough.
Hi, would that work with any other tankless? I have Noritz that my contractor installed but does not have a return line or a recirculation future.
I really like the idea, but how does this effect the operation cost of the water heater, is it on all the time circulating the hot water. i Feel like the electric or gas bill would rise quite a bit.
Installed a new 240A2 with navicirc valve at distant sink. What is the settings on the machine internal vs external circulation? Right now there is no pipe entering the recirculating port on the water heater. Please help. Thanks

Since the cold water line is now being used as the return line in the circulation flow, opening the cold water spout might flow out hot? How exactly does this affect the cold water flow if someone turns on the cold water while this is recirculating?

Had the tankless water heater installed 2 weeks ago. Our old large tank water heater got us hot water in 10 seconds in the morning. This tankless system takes 45 seconds!!! For 27 years we never had a problem showering and running a tap, now we do. These tankless systems do not deliver on their promise. Wish we never had it installed.

I have a Navi-Circ in my own home along with hot button and NaviLink. Professional contractor and i can say Navien is best in the market!
That is great to hear. I have same setup as you. I’m having issues getting the recirculation to run more than 3 mins regardless of setting. That’s not long enough to get hot water to my distant fixture. Any suggestions?? I want to use the Hot Button so I don’t waste energy on other methods
@@stevespanogle5892 yes i do. If you buy the hot button KIT, it comes with a temperature sensor that goes on the hot water line right before the navi-circ. That sensor gets wired back to the heater. When the hot button is pushed, it will keep the pump and burner on until that sensor reads 95 degrees. You can actually see what that temperature is on the status menu of the heater.
@@donevans5268 yes I bought the kit. I haven’t tried that status menu but I’ll look for it. What temp differential setting are you using ?? I appreciate the input.
