Matt has officially went off then deep end with this episode , but Chad Santi was here to bring us the science we need.
A-grade acting right there. I suspect he used real memories to fuel the tears and frustration.😆

This is the deep end to you?
Do you even KNOW Matpat?
For anyone who can't find or afford the coconut flour, you could use unsweetened dried coconut in its place. You can even blitz the dried coconut in a blender/food processor to make it more powdery.
I can't even afford the nuts 😂
I can't eat the coconut
Whoever did the editing on this video deserves all the props it pairs so well with Matt and Santi's chemistry
SO TRUE
Can we please talk about that absolutely impeccable acting from both Matt and Santi on the intro? I swear Matt always manages to bring up his inner theatre kid when I least expect it
He's pretty much "out" as a theater kid.
Right!?? Right!?!
that intro was EMOTIONAL...also are we forgetting what happened "Santi just lives in my closet now"
We need more skits!!!
Agreed
I love that Food Theory is treated like a “second channel” and you do things so much differently here. It’s so much fun! I still think this was the best addition to Game Theory yet.
technically it's a FOURTH channel. (second is GT live, third is Film Theory but then again maybe food is a third rather than a fourth since it's been used more than film, and the 5th channel is (of course) style theory 😌
@@apersoninthecomments9880 I agree, I put second channel in quotation marks because I was referring to the idea of how many second channels tend have more throw-away-ish content, and they act like that a lot on Food Theory, which I love!
@@apersoninthecomments9880 🤓 "erm, acktually"
This is what Game Theory used to be, MatPat doing science things(but with videogames of course). That's why there are still people who prefer old Game Theory to new. At this point I prefer Food and Style Theory to Game Theory, because they are more like the original Game.
Same!
This is genuinely so helpful for people who struggle with weight gain, especially because snacks end up being most of my diet since it's better than nothing at all. I can't wait to try this out and see if I like it because it would be an awesome thing to snack on instead of whatever's available to me

Bold of you to assume he doesn't do theatre for fun still. Plus with a kid, story time has to be pretty fun for both of them
@@Iliadic Fair point, fair point indeed.
Glad to see this channel actually branching out in creating good recipes, not just the meme ones previously. This one also sounds very tasty, so I’ll have to try it out.
A few things:
1) while macadamia nuts are pretty nutritious, aren’t they kind of pricey and a bit harder to find? Maybe not as much as cashews, but I’d like to see recipes consider availability and price (though I’m sure the sponsor helped for this). Plus, most nuts and seeds are great for you and jam packed with unsaturated fats, fiber, protein, and various vitamins and minerals.
2) obviously, this also isn’t for anyone allergic to nuts. Hopefully more recipes will consider allergens and certain lifestyle diets. I’d like to see what y’all come up with.
3) while raw coconut flour might not need to be cooked like raw wheat flour, I would’ve liked to see that brought back up in this video in case viewers substitute a flour they have, especially if they’re cheaper/more available.
4) I realize saturated fats weren’t wholly labeled as bad, but they REALLY are not bad for you. We do need them, just a better balance of fatty acids in general. Like omega-3s, we need them in a certain proportion to omega-6 which is very common in American diets (particularly vegetable oils, which is why they get demonized, when really we just need to balance them with more omega-3s). Same thing with saturated fats; we need them, just not quite as much.
5) speaking of omega-3s and -6s, the sources of omega-3s you mentioned are actually more predominantly full of omega-6. It’s estimated we need an omega-6 to omega-3 ratio of 4:1, but things like avocado and olives have vastly higher amounts of omega-6 that virtually make their omega-3 contribution moot. Chia seeds, flaxseed, and algae tend to be the best plant-based sources of omega-3s. Again we do need omega-6 as well, but it’s far more easily ingested and needs to be balanced with -3.
Thanks so much for this! Learning about food has quickly become one of my favorite things!
The Omega-3 vs 6 thing is really useful to know. I've heard before that Poly Unsaturated Fats (PUFAs) are bad for you and someone I know has been avoiding them. I've also heard that Omega-3 is good for you but it's a PUFA. Based on you're comment I'm now presuming that the PUFAs that are demonized (and cause people to be super sluggish and have other health issues) are probably Omega-6 or similar which are not being properly balanced out. I've been told to avoid too much Canola oil because it's high in PUFAs and is also extremely cheap and common. I've also been told that Canola and a few other oils aren't that great for you because they don't break down properly and cause certain chemicals to build up in muscles and such.
Honestly it's really hard to keep track of all this stuff but I have been trying to eat better and exercise more. I struggle with proper sleep and took a neurotransmitter and cortisol test which revealed low levels of neural transmitters (across the board) and my cortisol starts low then spikes and stays high instead of spiking high to wake me up then gradually declining throughout the day.

IMPORTANT! If you plan to make this recipe with regular wheat flour, you MUST cook the flour before hand! MatPat covered this in a FilmTheory about Last of Us, but the quick reason is that it’s about as dangerous to consume raw flour as it is raw eggs.
I don’t know why someone would make this with regular wheat flour as it would negatively impact the purpose of having a nutrient dense snack. You cannot just sub out the coconut flour with all purpose flour and then expect it to provide the same nutritious experience 🙄.
Also note this is way less of an issue if you live in the eu as the safety standards are so high that it honestly doesn't matter if you eat raw eggs or raw flour. Still relevant outside of eu ofc.
Kinda surprised he did not mention it
For me and everyone else who is not as smart as you, assuming what you said is true. How do you cook flour? Do you put the powder in the oven or mix it with water or something? (Genuinely confused since powders are typically a fire hazard(like coffee creamer powder)
@@John-Smith02 Yep! You can spread the flour you need on a flat pan and shove it in the oven at 300F for ~5min (keep an eye on it to avoid it turning brown and burning). Alternatively, you can microwave the flour in a bowl for 1~2min, stopping and stirring every 15s. In both cases, it's dry-cooked, and you'll get safe-to-eat flour :)
Actually this is very similar to an Indian sweet called 'Ladoo'. The ones found like sweet shops or markets are usually packed with a lotta sugar. Although the ones made traditionally at home rely on jaggery, coconut and sometimes rasins as sweetners and are packed with variety of pairings of flours and nuts. To name one 'Besan laddu' my mums fav (personally i hate it) is made up of ghee, jaggery, almonds ,elaichi and gram flour.
Ladoo! I love those
What did besan laddoo ever do to you 😭😭😭😭
I love that they waited till the bowl was empty to mention the spatula. 10:33

Its peak.
I'd be down for more of these episodes tbh. Where they show off easy and healthy foods that you can whip up in less than an hour for common everyday needs. Where I don't have to spend the better part of the day trying to make sure everything's in order for a meal, and can just throw together something easy and healthy for myself or the family.
Same, i want my food o p t i m i s e d
fr. I did not even remotely know the antioxidant fact so like... THANK you, Food Theory. Geez, maybe i can actually eat healthy instead of just trying and barely succeeding.
I know it’s more health guru than theory but I trust Matt more than big companies who just want you to buy their products. So I would love to watch a video about which fats, proteins, etc are the best for a healthy lifestyle!
"Grabbing a fist full of salmon while going out the door isn't exactly the cleanest option." When he said that I said, "it could be" so i attempted to make salmon jerky in my air fryer. It turned out great! It also unlocked a memory of my late uncle Bill, who made the best smoked salmon I had ever had.
The air fryer salmon was nearly identical in flavor and texture to his smoked salmon. I didn't think I would have another chance to have salmon like he made ever again.
Thank you Mat Pat, for (accidentally) challenging me to "grab a fist full of salmon while going out the door."
What temp & how long did you cook the salmon in the air fryer? Also, how thin did you slice it? 😁

BROTHERS
I love the idea, honestly, but we've ignored two key elements here: Time, and cost. A giant bag of chips costs a fraction of the cost for all these ingredients; and while these aren't difficult to make, they ARE harder than *open bag*.
Those are the factors they couldn't say, since it was a sponsored episode.
Indeed, these may be great snacks in theory once made, but I'd like something I don't have to spend an hour making.
And that's why these kinds of snacks are ones you prep a bunch of ahead of time, so that way when you're hungry you can just have a few.
Whether people are willing to set aside some time to make healthy snacks that could help them throughout their week is up to them.
@@stardasuperstar895price is the bigger factor. Macadamia nuts are expensive. O
None of my friends or family can afford to snack on macadamia nuts on the regular.
@@stardasuperstar895 Reminder. This is a sponsored episode. Whether these snacks are actually healthy remains to be seen. Especially now that the theorist team no longer has full control of the brand. Fact is that snacks aren't exactly healthy in the first place. Much better to have a big breakfast, 1 or 2 small meals during the day and a healthy dinner with a good amount of exercise in between. That, or train your body to only eat when you're actually hungry.
This episode got a good laugh out of me. We seriously need more MatPat and Santi shenanigans!

These are no longer four channels about theories on different topics. These four channels tell us the story of a man and his slow descent into madness. AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHERE IT'LL LEAD US Y'ALL. Jokes aside, every theory is a funny learning experience that anyone can understand and enjoy. My congratulations to the whole team.

7:55 now that santi will be the host of food theory, he's now making videos of matpat's close. Its all cominh full circle
5:20 The Deez Nuts Guy appeared when he said "Deez Nuts". Hah, Gatee!
So... I was highly skeptical of both Food Theory and Style Theory when they first launched, but honestly I watch them much more frequently than I do Game or Film Theory. I can't remember the last time I watched a GT episode, many years ago for sure, and FT I've only watched a handfull, like the Indiana Jones refrigerator, in the past handfull of years, but these videos I click on instantly 9/10 times.
Same for me, especially with Food Theory. I think a major reason for that is because these videos focus more on proven facts and extensive research rather than focusing on speculation.
I just realized another reason why the newer channels tend to be more engaging. While game and film theory focus almost exclusively on media, food and style theory often focus on real-life topics and situations. Not to mention quite a few of the videos involve actual experiments that they carry out in the videos. And on top of that, not only do other members of Team Theorist get to participate in said experiments, but the videos can also include bloopers and genuine reactions, as clearly demonstrated by this one. Overall, I’d much rather watch a video where Matt suffers through spicy chicken or punctures a skull with a high heel than a video determining details and backstories of a horror game.
Style theroy still sucks, i wish they made space theory instead

I think a lot of people are just growing out of gaming youtube so now the hanging out making food channel is getting pretty popular. But that's just a theory.
