Charles Haddon (C.H.) Spurgeon (June 19, 1834 January 31, 1892) was a British Reformed Baptist preacher who remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations, among whom he is still known as the "Prince of Preachers." In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to around 10,000,000 people, often up to 10 times a week at different places. His sermons have been translated into many languages. Spurgeon was the pastor of the New Park Street Chapel in London for 38 years. In 1857, he started a charity organization called Spurgeon's which now works globally. He also founded Spurgeon's College, which was named after him after his death.
Spurgeon was a prolific author of many types of works including sermons, an autobiography, a commentary, books on prayer, a devotional, a magazine, and more. Many sermons were transcribed as he spoke and were translated into many languages during his lifetime. Arguably, no other author, Christian or otherwise, has more material in print than C.H. Spurgeon.

Love this guy!!! Father led me to him, and his sermon on the furnace of affiction. I felt like the sermon was written for me. Father delivered me from a 45 year addiction to alcohol, and pain pills. Once Father lifted me out of the trash, cleaned me up, and delivered me...satan and his demons got real mad!!! I will have 3 years in May, sober, and am on my fourth day of no cigarettes. I was the one sheep that JESUS rescued, and am living proof that Father did for me...what no man on earth could do...delivered me, and GAVE ME LIFE!!! AMEN & AMEN

I left the charismatic church and for many years, due to their abuses, I would cringe at the mention of the Holy Spirit and stop my ears from hearing anything concerning Him. Just recently, through sober preachers like CHS, I have begun to truly understand who He is and what is His ministry. I now pray the Spirit becomes to me as real and vital as Christ and the Father. I eagerly anticipate His power in revealing the Word of God to me and guiding me in the truth!

Sadly same thing happened to me caused me to be afraid of the Holy spirit. Would watch people claim he was causing them to be writhing wailing shouting etc. I walked away from all of it for several years. Through the word I learned and am still learning who the Holy Spirit is the absolute opposite of fear such peace through Him. God is good He sees the heart that is hungry for truth

yela bae ty, For most of my many decades my comment would be much as yours. I read, for years, at least one of CHS sermon a day. Later...even today in 7 decades I read (and listen too because of old age, health.) Martyn Lloyd-Jones' once wrote me to read all I may get my hands on, by Spurgeon. I found I also read all there has been in print by MLJ! CHS, greatest preacher in 19th century and I believe MLJ our 20th centuries greatest...what gifted preachers these men were.
He presents the word so we can absorb God's word and illustrations for us like pictures painted. This man was an whom God blessed to preach bring people to our loving g savior JESUS CHRIST! MY LORD!

Faith? Your comment is almost the same words I used in prayer when a younger 22 years old...53 years ago. He changed my life forever, forgave my sins then and helps me daily in my struggling since...for we are to strive for holiness but no perfection until we get to glory.

I still cannot believe that this message was preached very over a hundred years before I was even conceived. I've got absolutely no idea how I came to stumble across Charles Spurgeons seroms.
I become so addicted to listening to his preaching. It's the last thing that puts me to bed at nights. His message is so powerful and uplifting, am sure I dont need to attend church gathering because am not missing anything. Sadly but in today's churches it is more of a social club and a fashion house than a house of God.
We are called to the local church (Heb. 10:25). You're full of pride if you think you're above it! Maybe you need to be there to help bring some of them into the light? Never think you're above it nor that you Need it! Don't just go to show them only what but go for fellowship & relationships!
These sermons help me fall into a peaceful sleep.

I am Blessed to have met a man who plays music as I do, who I believe may be a prophet who introduced me to this amazing preacher,
And I am sober now 6 years, after breaking and finding myself in the darkest pit of my life with no light other than through Jesus Christ, thy I finally was able to find my way to that light and out to the other side in just one day, and to put down the bottle which I drank from every morning until night, hurting everyone I loved, until Christ truly gave me the strength to completely walk away from my addictions after 7-8 long years of being tied down to it. I say this as my testimony, and say that the Great Lord Jesus led me from that pit of darkness and into the light and the most beautiful part of my life. You know, that is such great insight. I hadn't thought of that. It is better for the Holy Spirit to dwell with us, each one individually, carrying God's presence than if Jesus was here in His bodily presence - because if God was in His bodily presence, there would be so many people around Him, that very few would be able to actually be close to Him. Whereas, with the Holy Spirit, He is in us and with us constantly. The spiritual aspect allows for that kind of close intimacy with God. The Holy Spirit filled that void after the bodily absence of our Lord

I pray every morning on my knees in tears crying out to God to let me feel the Holy Spirit inside me so that I won't have to hear Christ Jesus say "Depart from me. I never knew you". I could not bear to hear that and I beg Jesus daily to fill me with the Holy Spirit and remove all desires rooted in the flesh from me so that I can draw closer to Him. I cry and pray and cry and pray until I have nothing left. I hope He hears me and that He knows me.
I hear you, brother. The same here for me. I speak to the men every Saturday at one of the prisons here in my state, And I was telling them of the importance of this crying out to God daily for the infilling of His Spirit to empower them to live the life of righteousness and holiness as in the will of God, that they may have the power then, with the Holy Spirit outflowing from them with all that God wants to accomplish through them. They tell me they want to have what I have, and I tell them it comes to all who remain before God in all things, putting to death every sin that is still rooted in them until it has been crucified with Christ, and they desire nothing more than God himself, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the fullness of God that is in Jeshua. Many men at the time of Spurgeon were being inspired by the Holy Spirit to re-introduce back to the Church the importance of the Holy Spirit, just as at the same time, the Jews started returning to the land of Israel. The jews and the gentiles, being knitted once again in the Church with the same power as the Church had in its beginnings. Praise God!! Come Lord Jesus. Come.

Don't worry much about feeling, examine your life, see whether the Holy Spirit produce fruit or not. Feelings are temporary, the biggest sign of the Holy Spirit is power, to no longer walk in the way you walked before. I know this because I experience it daily, so many things which changed in my life. God does not work the same way in every person's life. Keep on crying out for God to fill you with the Holy Spirit, because this is continual, those rivers must keep flowing, therfore God keep filling us with His Spirit.

How have I never known about Charles Spurgeon. 4th sermon I’ve listened to. I’m humbled by this beautiful love this man had for the Lord. Since I broke my back I’m home alllllllllll the time. This helps so much to give me preaching time. I love this. I can’t believe I’ve never heard of Spurgeon before now. I had no idea. Whomever is doing the speaking is making me feel like I’m sitting in church hearing this man. I googled him and found he died before 1900. Amazing to find this on CZcams. Actually how is this on CZcams? Did he write his sermons down? Regardless I love this sermon so much.
Rebekah רבקה, yes his sermons are written down. I have 5 volumes of his sermons. Thankfully I was introduced to his work early in my Christian life.
I read Spurgeon since 22 years old (conversion in 1966.) He had no microphones of course (B. 1834-D. 1892) bur several short hand secretaries took down his messages and he perused them, had them printed (62 vol available today, plus books he wrote himself.) I believe he the greatest sermon since Apostle Paul. Go to "Banner of Truth Pub," online, at "Banner of Truth, P O Box 621, Carlisle, PA. and get CHS' 1892 sample volume of his last years sermons. Put "attn: Beth W...say "Wally L from WI sent you...she may give a discount and ask for book list of Banner...you will never be the same. Spurgeon's 2 vol auto is there too. Priceless!

The Lord gives and may remove the confidence and courage that comes thru the grace of God if we stray from the narrow path of clinging obediently to His way. All stray because only God is completely good, but the Spirit will gently guide us. Surrender all in fellowship with "The bride" that is Christian unity. Keep us strong Lord tho we are weak without You. Amen.

We receive the Holy Spirit not by prayer but by obedience of the gospel. Acts 2:38.
Lord, please help me above all your gifts seek, and eagerly await, for Your bread of ABUNDANT LIFE. Which brings me to Your paths of righteousness, and life abundant, and allows many rivers of living waters to flow from me.
Let me also be restfully confident that You will provide it. Knowing that all I must do is pray and believe in You. Knowing that You "obligated Yourself to do so". That I don't need to feel like that point of Christian life is unapproachable, because You Yourself have said that for You to deprive us of the Holy Spirit when your children ask, is as if You would give stones when we ask for bread. Let me therefore always come boldy before You, asking of You this most desirable bread, knowing that in Christ You gave me this privalege. This path of righteousness that allows me to the true Christian life - of simplicity and effortlessness whilst still hearing much spiritual fruit and obedience.
You want to alleviate me of every agitation and strife in my life - so that obedience and spiritual life "effortlessly and perpetually flow from me"

"They have life, but they do not have life abundant"
Life, and life abundant are intimately interweaved. So much so, that the Holy Spirit was ONLY given once Christ had risen.
"The Holy Spirit was with them, but not in them. Those before the new covenant did not know the empowering fellowship and blissful communion with The Holy Spirit.
"The Holy Spirit was coming to and fro - like the dove from Noah's ark - but only after glorification of Christ did the Holy Spirit live and dwell (no longer going to and fro)"
The Holy Spirit offers what every unbeliever desires (but isn't aware of) and every believer desires (but is aware of). He, among many other things, offers assurance to us (that we are His) and testimony to others (that Christ has risen for our sake).
The Holy Spirit was only given once Christ has risen - therefore it logically follows that if the Holy Spirit has been given, then Christ has risen for us.
Christ is righteousness for us, and the Holy Spirit is righteousness through us.
What beautiful and true words. It's almost impossible to hear that kind of preaching today.
When we honor the word of God by reading the word of God we honor the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit inspired the word of God and so we’re showing respect for his work of bringing the word to us through the prophets whom he inspired

Back in the middle 90's (93--98) I read a couple books written by Pastor Charles Spurgeon..........Right now I'm grateful for this particular audio of C.S...........Alot of my favorite reading material is "those back then", and beloveth the Holy Ghost can give you good MEAT from such teaching........Today is 10/18/2022, the time is 5:45am.........My 1st time listening to this 😀imma be back "bc" I'm eager to gain some wisdom an knowledge 😀

Charles Haddon Spurgeon was truly the “Prince of Preachers” (of CHRIST was the TRUE PRINCE). He was both the Puritan and Pentecostal of his day. May we all become likewise and glorify in the sovereignty, truth, and power of CHRIST!
The truth of God's word said in the way that it should be told according to the word of God. Charles was truly a spiritual Man, I once heard of him from D.L Moody they were great friends back in those days when he visited London, I keep listening to his messages and I can tell you that they are very inspiring and empowering pointing only to the cross where our redeption and salvation is found. Keep up the good work, the Lord Jesus Christ will reward you for such a wonderful work from Christian sermons.
I thank God for the blessings I receive as I listen to the message of the Pastor. They are an inspiration to me as I continue to search the scriptures to obtain more wisdom and knowledge of it.
