I bought a one year old 840i GC in 2021 here in the UK with ten optional extras. I still have it. Its the best car that I have ever owned. I previously had the 640i GC which was a great car. But the 840i GC is even better. I'll be holding on to it for a long time.

Yup same. I Remapped my 840i GC and it's brilliant for a family car.
How is this car during winter months in UK

Mark, an overlooked, hidden gem in the BMW stable. All The 8's in fact. The convertible is probably one of the best designed 'soft tops' available. Ditto the 4. The Grand Coupe beats anything Merc or even Porsche has to offer. The enemy is depreciation. Just buy a pre-owned one if this is your bag. Thank you for bringing the BMW 8 back to those who can afford such a car.
Here in the UK, there are several 840i's registered from July 22 with around 7k miles for sale - £49,928 ... !

What I like about BMW is that no matter what model you have, inside they are all very similar. Makes me feel better about my M135i when I see it’s similar in looks not necessarily in build to my own car, I can dream about an 8 series 😁

10:55 spot-on description of the suspension. Most reviewers call it either comfortable or harsh, when it’s really a weird combo of both.
A simply wonderful car - if BMW could have made 1 change , it would have been equipping this car with the S58, as opposed to the B58 I6 - it is, otherwise, perfection. I love my coupe' and hope to keep it for a long time, An excellent video review, as well - kudos, and a "thumbs up !!"
It’s a proper internal combustion engine driven BMW. Looks and drives great. Ridiculous amount of money though. Maybe would make a good buy in a few years, when someone else has paid for the depreciation.

Beautiful car, one of my favorites.
I bought a used Black Sapphire in May when it was just 2.5 years old. I changed the grille from chrome to shadowline one. Mine only has sun protection glass and piano black trim as options. It is much advanced from my previous Dec 2015 640d GC.
Are you bored of it after 4 months? or still impressed etc?

It is indeed a cheaper alternative. As long as you don`t want the performance. Here is another idea for a video. Is the Golf GL a better and cheaper alternative to the 840i? It also has 4 doors and a trunk.

Fantastic Review, ive just done a stage 1 Remap on my 840i GC and its now 430bhp and feels really good. As a Petrol head I am considering a downpipe on it for more crackle n pop but the wife uses it alot and would only complain, Cheers

@@sohailmahmood206 hi mate, yes i absolutely do recommend it. Same smooth delivery through all gears, adaptive and comfort are more responsive too but still very calm if you don't boot it, but sport and sport plus it becomes really responsive and an entire new car. It feels every bit over 430 plus and the torque is ridiculous.
I had it done by Collins performance in Cheshire.

The last good-looking BMW (this and current 3 series).
Am currently choosing between this in xdrive or the M440i xdrive gran coupe.... both brilliant.

Forgive my ignorance, Which model year is this ..
I have had both 840i and the M8 (same engine as the M5) and honestly they are no way near comparable. You can’t compare the two engines. The M5 engine is an absolute monster, it’s a wild animal that needs taming whereas the 840i is a luxury GC car that has a small kick to it, that’s all. Please don’t compare the 2 again my friend 🙏
I can compare all I like, that’s why it’s my channel, my opinion. The point I was making is how often can you use the performance of the M cars, it’s a shame you didn’t understand.

Uh... ya... because that 8-series is SMALLER than a 5-series with borderline unusable rear seats even in the Gran Coupe... and they want six figures for essentially a re-badged 6-series.
Certainly looks better than most BMW's. I love the way BMW troll their fan boys by making such ugly as sin cars, knowing they will still get brought because of the badge.
Nice car, but i'd rather go with an M440i tbf, the 8 series is too low, impractical, and expensive for what you get. The 4 series has more room, and is actually a good chunk faster
Cars like this will remain part of the conversation but their economic case will be difficult as the high volume stablemates are eaten up by EVs from China. I fear there might not be a case for luke warm GTs for long
