I love how you said that " read out loud will keep you away from daydreaming" I actually read out loud a lot when I get stressful by the material however, it does really help me to keep on tract and I didn't even know that it is one of the strategy! I love this video so much! It is excellent!!!! You should get a million subscriber!!!
1. Read high yield books
2. Have a Reference book
3. Recall like you are a teacher
4. Space repetition every 2-3 days
Do you mean the books under the high yield series? Or books which are high yield in information
@@joshmeep1058 high yield info
Can you name the books you follow in the first year (anatomy, physiology, biochem etc.)?
1. Create manageable study schedule - preview and review on the same day 2. Timing - Pomodoro 30-5mins (turn of all distractions) 3. Enhance memory recall - spaces repetition, Feynman technique, multiple resources (read high yield, find reference book of low yield), flash cards to actively learn (anki - study that days material) 4. Read and Retain - read out loud, act like a teacher in your mind when reading, highlight as you read. 5. Study when you don’t want to - build a habit, pomodoro, rewards 6. Sleep (core), Exercise, Eat healthy - 8hrs and 15min naps, don’t play on phone before bed
Summary: study what you have been exposed to on the same day, read out loud and underline or highlight, use reference books for details and use multiple sources of material. Teach others what you've learnt and act like a teacher, use spaced repetitions like Anki. Have a regular study habit with cue and reward, eg everyday at 6pm with use 30min to 5 min study plan, then give reward eg tv show, movie or exercise. Most importantly, always sleep well, so make exercise and 8 hour sleep happen, cool quiet room without lights and screen time. Perhaps 15 min nap in the middle of the day if necessary.
wish I had watched this before my first semester. thanks!
Tô usando muito o Anki! Recomendo total
did it work? :)
Me too.... So sad i didn't
I am a dentistry stuedent.Thank you much Mr. Dr. Ossareh. That is fantastic tips.
THIS IS GOLDEN! Definitely the most informative medical-school style study video on CZcams! Definitely going to use this starting next month when I begin medical school!!!
i really enjoyed the lecture. it helped me so much to learn about studying. I always had studying issues as a medical student and it really affected me so much that i used to break down and start crying lol. It seemed like the more volume i study the more i forget what i've previously studied. Its soooo annoying!!!! i just hope this technique works for me cos there's so much to know and not forget. Thank you so much.
I'm here after being five years in medical school, this lecture helped me a lot to survive many times by the habits I started at that time. Thanks Dr.
Wow that's amazing to back after these years to give your feedback... May Allah bless you❤
Same buddy , 2024 ,almost finishing 5th year , restarting from scratch
This video is gold!!!!! Thanks alot Doc! I will definitely implement these strategies as I go into my second year of medical school.
Thank you so much! I always had trouble with managing my studies this really helped
Hope I watched this video on the first day of my med school! But it's never too late though.
Thank you so much.
Oh man, been using anki since I was fifteen. Glad to see it being appreciated
I agree with the idea don't just listen to lecture videos, mixed it up with reading, teaching/sharing what you learned with fellow med students this way the information that you must learn will remain in your long term memory. NICE I LIKE THAT
You’re amazing! I really needed this
I'm not in Medical School yet, but I am planning to go once I graduate. This is really helpful, and can even improve my lifestyle in day-to-day life!!! Thanks!
Wish I knew these before college. Such a great find! Thanks!
Thank you so much. This is the best video ever. Could be used for any university carrer honestly. If i could go back in time before starting medicine and change something; by far making me watch this video would be #1.
I just started medical school. ..I am soo happy listening to this video am gonna follow it ...I hope and pray it works for me...
how has medical school been? :)
Is this working for you???
Oh man. Goodluck!! Let us know if you come up with any other good study techniques.

thank you man. I found this video to be very resourceful
Amazing video! I wish I had watched this video many years ago. Thanks Mohammad👌
My 2 years are really bad, I don't know how to manage all this stuff but, finally 3rd year now learning to use scientific technic . It vary useful. That's the right way to study i think. Now use this skills daily, and show effective results, thanks sir making this video. It's very important know how to maintain sleep, healthy diet, exercise with medical study.
Sushma Badgujar cuál es el método científico ?
I think this is the best of all I have seen about studying techniques
As an Indian dental student, we have lectures, practicals, lab work ,etc from 8-5pm with a short break. It's very difficult and tiring to studying as soon as we reach home. There is no time for recreation. But I'll try to incorporate these tips, let's hope it works.
Rightly said and even the online classes are grilling us . No practical learning and even no dissection . It's the bane of the batch
This material is absolutely fantastic! Very clean, organized, and “high yield”. I’m very excited to start med school this year after 9 years out of undergrad and I’ll be primed to implement. Thanks Doc Ossareh!
Be sure to brush up on biochem/cell bio. Onlinemeded and the relevant cards from the Anking's deck are good for those. For anatomy, try www.reddit.com/r/step1/comments/8sih6h/my_anatomy_deck_for_step_1/ or www.reddit.com/r/medicalschoolanki/comments/cnkw4c/100_concepts_anatomy_deck_cloze_style_469_cards/ or the anatomy from the Anking's deck.
Thanks Mujtaba!

In my medical college, we have classes from 7h up to 17h. Almost all classes with huge amounts of content. After 2 or 3 months is almost impossible to be up to date, so cramming becomes necessary for surviving the semester.
i wish id know this before entering Med school. anyway i think i can still apply this. thank you very much

Recommendations for choosing a reference book?
SUMMARY
1. Creat a manageable study schedule (one that you can really stick with!).
- Wake up 2 hours early before lectures have your breakfast and coffee.
- Review the lecture you are about to take.
- Watch or go to the lecture.
- Take a break.
- Review the material from different sources to get a grasp of it.
2. Know how to strategically time it.
- Modified pomodoro technique: 30 min study then 5 min.
- NO DISTRACTION (Phone airplane mode).
3. Learn techniques to enhance recall of information.
- Study using multiple resources but not many.
- Study from a high-yield book for important information.
- Have a reference (that may have many low-yield info) to really understand the high yield material.
- Flashcards and spaced-repetition.
- Do not cram.
4. Learn how to read quickly while retaining information.
- Read out loud.
- Act like a teacher.
- Highlight and underline while you read.
5. Learn how to study when you don't want to.
- Develop a habit of studying:
Cue: after breakfast or after exercising.
Habit: Studying using modified pomodoro technique
Reward: Eat or do something that you like.
6. Learn how to have a good sleep schedule (VERY CRITICAL).
- Sleep 7-8 hours and no matter what just MAKE IT HAPPENS!
- Take 20-30 min nap.
- No bluelight, no caffeine, no heavy meals, no stress or loud noise before sleeping.

How you should have time to learn something after 8h of lectures, 2h for the go to and get back from school, 1h for eating and house stuff if you don't clean the entire house? This means that you have left only 5h, besides the 8h of sleep when you are a zombie. And you need to prepare for the next day lectures. Also, for each lecture you have about 20 pages to read and you have 4 lectures
