How do people not understand the entire performance was inspired by Tina Turner? She not only performed her own song incredibly, but paid homage to Tina and the subject of female empowerment at the same time.

I absolutely loved this. The performance was fierce and fearless. No overblown production with background dancers. No running around on stage while trying to sing. Just Miley being Miley enjoying herself on stage.
She 100% enjoyed herself and that made the whole performance magic.
This live performance of Miley was better than the music video version.. raw and powerful 🔥

I absolutely agree the live performance was better, partly better because the orchestra was extraordinary --the horns especially and of course, the strings, and most importantly the beat, that Latin beat -- so much talent!!
Miley selected and is wearing a vintage 2002 Bob Mackie number - same designer who dressed Cher and Tina Turner.

I loved it so much! The fringes, the bra, the paisley shaped colored sparklers! I know Miley isn't the best dancer out there, but she was having fun, paying homage, and reveling in the night! Isn't that what music and the grammys are about!?
Fun fact, Miley instantly made "Tina Turner" (and of course herself) trend on X, and that was an hour before the actual Tina tribute 😅

This was only her second time singing this song in public. She was having fun because it's just a song she had no expectations for.
Just a little sidenote- I am 62 and watched her grow up along with my 2 youngest girls. I always liked her music, not all her songs, but they just weren't my taste. My girls loved her, and we all listened to her all the time. Flowers is just a special song for so many since so many can relate to it.. think it great she has a Grammy, but she didn't need it to be special.
I am.58 and also had a daughter grow up in the Hannah Montana years. We totally supported her freedom of expression break from Disney and society and just being her. We love Miley.
Never laughed so hard at her dance moves. She is no Tina Turner.
She is rocking. And if you watch Tina she wasn't always the best dancer either, but she paved the way for female rock artists and wasn't afraid to strut her stuff and belt out a great song! I love them both. MILEY AND TINA!

Ok, guys! I am old, so I know this from experiencing it growing up. This is soooo Tina Turner, who of course, just died😢. If you watch Miley's pre-preformance interview, she even names Tina as one of her heroes! Miley is so channeling her inner Tina! Go Miley!❤ And BTW Dolly Parton is her Godmother, but not blood related. Miley totally owned the 66th Grammys! From her All safety pin (14,000 of them) red carpet dress to her other four looks that evening, she rocked! And totally called Liam out too!

Um... in the interview before her performance, she clearly lists Tina as one of her influences, among other major divas. It was a clear nod from the get-go. Also this year's Grammy's paid tribute to Tina who passed away last year, via Fantasia's cover and several other mentions. Why it's such a mystery or surprise that this would be a tribute performance is beyond me. Unless people didn't watch anything but Miley's performance ... but it's like a quick google search tho. 🤷♀
