  • In this video Big Tractor Power is out in the field with a 790 hp 485 bu. FENDT Ideal 10T Combine harvesting wheat with a 40ft Geringhoff TruFlex Draper Head.     I used to fall asleep in the back of the cab in my Dad's old MF... The sound of these machines is so soothing. Do anything to go back to that time.

    What a beast of a machine. Scary to see no steering wheel but once you get used to it I'm sure the joystick is easier and more ergonomic.

    Joystick controls are fantastic. We switched from steering wheel to joystick controls in our articulated wheel loaders at work and I wouldn't go back. It feels so much more natural to relax back in the seat and move just the wrist to steer.

    790HP, only FENDT could pull that off! What a animal! Best looking tractors in the world, Case in second. FENDT has endless line of equipment that's 2nd to none. Euro Engineering is tops in the world. I have to say in all honestly, America when its allowed to can out engineer the world.

      Claas 8900 Lexion Combines are 800 HP. I believe they also use a MAN engine

      Right now Geringoff only offers up to 45ft in the US. AGCO has partnered with Geringoff to supply headers. Unfortunately the 45 foot head ordered for this unit did not arrive in time for a week so they had to use a 40 foot. Needless to say at 790 Hp this combine cruised through 100 bu wheat with ease.

    Given the small amount of steering done due to auto steer, it is probably nice to have the steering wheel out of the way. That combine is a beast!

      What combine did you run? The new machines will harvest in an hour what combines in the 80’s harvested in a day.

      @@bigtractorpower It was an early model Claas Dominator on my father's farm. I left farming and went to trade commodities in the City of London but still remain very interested. Trading commodities paid a lot better but was essentially the same job. Sitting down for 12 hours a day looking at rows of numbers rather than rows of wheat.🤑

    My choice would be a # 10 with the LSW tires with steering wheel 45 foot table and 16 row 30" corn head. My thinking tires and steering to reduce cost.

    The engineers on new harvester designs recently have really lowered the engine rpm. It sounds like it's at nearly half idle. I think it's a great idea

      The two Fendt combines in this field never slowed up or had an issue. They cruised right through 100 bu wheat.

    Great video Jason, when you mention the list price of this machine does it vary depending on the brand of header you choose or does it come with a standard header and then the farmer has to fork out extra depending on the make of header he chooses.

      Heads are purchased entirely separately. That price he gave is the machine. You need a platform head, you go buy it, choose your brand. Pick up head, corn head, all separate purchases. 150,000 is a good starting price for a head.

    Looks like the tracks are extremely rough with a continual bounce as noticed by the belly jiggle in the cab. Case standard tracks are very similar. You can drive on glass and be bouncing.

    That's a big machine for sure. I would prefer the steering wheel. If you don't use the stick a lot, as when using auto steer, it could be easy to make a wrong move with the machine when you grab the stick in tight quarters.

      The 8900 unfortunately is not available in North America. Claas has not really pushed the very top models here in the past because the crop yields not warrant the power. A big wheat crop here is 100 bu or just over and corn does not require the power wheat does.

      I saw that. This is the third 10T I have filmed and the 7th Ideal I have filmed. I filmed the 7,8,9 and 10. The farmers I have met all seem happy with them.

      This combine is cutting a dry ripe crop, not a 5 bushel green crop at 7 mph. I think they are designed for ripe dry stuff.

    Is all of that horsepower really necessary? Does it harvest faster than the competition?
    Does it handle larger attachments than the competition?

      It harvests faster. It unloads on the go and harvesters much faster. I was in a field last fall with a 10 on a Geringoff 16 row head and it pushed 6 mph in 250 bu corn pretty easy. There were three Case IH 8250 combines in the same field and the Ideal breezed by them quickly. The Axial-Flows with 12 row heads were running 3.5 mph. In wheat harvest this 10T had a 40ft because of supply shortages the 45ft Geringoff orders for it did not arrive in time for wheat.

    Maybe finally we have a machine with a big engine with plenty of power in reserve. I’d be surprised if that MAN disappointed in any way. Deere is great but their engines are often at 100% power in their cotton pickers and big combines

      The MAN engine has been used in North America since AGCO introduced the Fendt 1000 tractors in 2016 and Challenger 1000 tractors in 2018. I have not heard any issues with those tractors.

      That was the one and only in North America for initial trails to set it for North America before the official launch at the 2021 Farm Progress Show. If I recall AGCO told me their trail acres got snowed out that fall.

      This combine cruised through this 800 acre field with ease. My local dealer sold 8 Ideals in the past year. I have not heard of any issues of the ones running in this area.

      The 9600 is a great combine but in 100 bu. It is going to run 1.5 mph with a 30ft head. This 10T is running at 6 mph. The field I filmed in was 800 plus acres and the farm has 6,000 acres of wheat. A 9600 would not get a crop in quick enough. The farm plants soybeans right behind the combine as a second crop.

    $110K for track drive. How much bigger is the final drive system in order it to justify that?

      I do not know. That’s the listed price for the track option. Tires come standard from the factory.

      No doubt it could. Geringoff currently only offers up to 45ft in North America and the one ordered for this combine did not arrive in time for wheat so it had to be a 40ft.

    The John Deere X9 1100 has class 10 threshing speed/abilities but using only a 690hp engine. Saving a lot on fuel for the same work.

      Just because an engine is rated at a higher horsepower doesn't necessarily mean it uses more fuel to do the same work, but it does mean it can do more work when needed.

    I would not have guessed that the joystick steering would be a $17k option. Amazing to think that if I sold my combine I could afford the tracks off of the 10t, nothing else just the tracks. I wonder how many more years before we see a 1000hp combine?

      I would say 20 years. The Ideal, X9, CLAAS 8000 and future big CNH combines coming to market soon represent allot of investment in development. They will use these plant forms for a while it’s small power bumps. I expect at some point the X9 1100 will become the X9 1120 or something and so on for the others.

    Make sure when purchasing this machine that the dealer appoints a full time mechanic to be with the machine 24/7. This machine has no reliability.

      The Ideal comes with a 3 year full service Warrenty. It covers are filter and fluid changes for free and a replacement unit if a repair takes more than 24 hours.

      unfortunately because of supply shortages this year the 45ft head could not be delivered in time for wheat harvest. Some times you have to run what you can get. Many farms in my area are still waiting on 2022 Deere tractors that we're supposed to be delivered in April.

    Nice video but changing from steering wheel to joy sticks should reduce the price or should go up a little.but in America one can sell mud more expansive than gold if packing is nice.entire world is looting America.

      I filmed a 10T in corn last year on a 16 row head. If it gets up and really goes it had so much owed it pulled the corn up by the roots.

    These combines don’t impress me at all. John Deere S790 or a Case 9250 will out perform any Ideal combine in every crop no matter the harvesting conditions.

      Where I'm located the ideal 9 and 10 are out performing degrees and case. The only one that is right there with it is the claas 8800 and 8900.

      @@frankdank7507 look up Mike Mitchell a farmer from Canada and look at his videos back last year and the year before. He had like 10 Fendt combines and the mechanic from the dealership was out almost everyday. Even the factor reps and engineers were in the field working on ‘em. There were times when everyone of those junk combines were broke down at the same time. He traded them off for several used John Deere and 2 new John Deere combines.

    CLAAS uses the same 16.2L MAN in the 8900, which isn't available in N America.... Same HP...They call it a class 11 machine... 8800 class 10, 8700 class 9... JD X9 1100 690 hp, they call it a class 11... LOL... get an industry standard LOL!!!! all on their web sites...

    I can't help but wonder, why black? Of all the color choices for this environment, seems like black would be the least desirable...

      The only reason I can think of is that the Ideal is so as a Massey Ferguson in Europe in addition to Fendt. By having one color they simply change the badges and sell the combine through two different dealer lines.

      It has a good turning radius. They were trading a new operator when I was filming. The farmer was running the joy stick for the first time. Just getting used to it.

      Unfortunately because of all the supply shortages in the Farm Equipment industry this year The 45 foot header ordered for this machine did not arrive in time for wheat harvest. Geringoff does not offer a 50ft head yet in North America. Some times you have to get the job done. AGCO and Geringoff have partnered to sell headers on Ideal and Gleaner combines.
