My sister also speaking Cambodia every will. For me not much.
There are buses from Giant Ibis Transport tat goes to Sime Riep. I had taken it before and it's US$35
Thanks for the video, knowledge is power in these border crossings. I did Phnom Penh to Bangkok via poi pet for 18USD through capitol buses about 10 years ago.
You got off the bus and queued hours to get through immigration. Got in hi-ace vans that flew on the Thai side, but dropped us in the middle of nowhere late in the evening in Bangkok. It was an all day affair. Asia does that sort of crap a lot. Hired cars with the family and did it again about 5years ago. The new processing center was heaps better, but hiring cars is expensive.
Sooo you paid 45 for the taxi
And how much for the tuk tuk?
45 for 4 peoples@@ScorpionX669
I'm currently in Seam reap and we got a ride from that guy in the Lexus. Once he started driving I pulled up your video and asked him if that was his car...he said yes and broke out in laughter, I told him he was a CZcams star.😂

One of my favorite things about your videos is how your accent changes when you speak english to these people, as if doing your best Jackie Chan impression somehow makes you more understandable :) Maybe it does, I don't know. Thanks so much for posting!

Thank you so much!
Very interesting For anyone wanting to do something similar So much important data Looking forward to your next videos I feel as if I am travelling even though home here in Taupo NZ,
Best of luck with adventures in Cambodia.
Such a useful video Chris. Unfortunately Poipet is not the best intro to Cambodia but once you get through it the rest of the country is really nice. The train is an excellent way to travel from Thailand to Cambodia and its so little known. Other than the price it allows you to get to the border early which is really useful. There is nothing else for $1.50. Public thai buses from Ekamai station are good too. As you cross the border just smile and politely refuse at any offer you get for visa and taxis and walk past the casinos till you get to the one visa office on the right side that issues one month visas - make sure your country is eligible for visa on arrival. Shared taxis are a good option ... but if you ask inside the casinos they should help you find buses to siem reap for much less.
I’m an Aussie who’s lived in Cambodia for a few years and It’s cool to see someone look at it in new eyes.
Thanks for the support!
I really sorry to see that Chris. Please enjoy your holiday in Cambodia .
Awwww…Thailand will miss you too! Thank you for a proper goodbye. Some youtubers (only some) just hopped on to the next countries like they don’t care.
❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️🇰🇭Thank for visiting Cambodia 🇰🇭🙏
It is so convenient that they set up a place to print what is necessary.
Nice vlog dear ❤️❤️❤️🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩
I live near Phnom Penh great to have you visit
Thank you so much! So many amazing videos from Cambodia on the way!
I am thinking about visiting Pnom Phen. How much would you estimate a monthly cost of living there?
Man I am so sorry to see this happen to you..I hope you have a better experience in Cambodia.
Man…..I was worry that they were gonna sell u🤪😂Enjoy, can’t wait to see more videos❤️
Yes so were we! Ahahah thanks so much Sandra! I hope you enjoy the Cambodia series!
hahaha awesome video, i was consider doing this on my next trip to Thailand. But now i know i will take airplane instead, hahaha thank you for doing this so we others dont 🤣🤣🤩🤩 Good video content!
Yes the plane is definitely worth it and cheap! I did this just to document the experience..... never again ahahha
At major attractions in Cambodia There will be a group of children crowd you asking for money or trying to sell souvenirs. If you give money or buy something from a child, many other children will come and urge you. For taxi, there are common scams in Cambodia and Vietnam.
.
I'm looking forward to watching your Cambodian series. Good luck from Thailand.
Take a casino bus from Lumpini Park at 6:00 am for about $5.00 (US). Ride in comfort for 3.5 hrs. get a free buffet upon arrival (in Cambodia).
Wow had no idea that was an option!
The things is from Thai -cambodia border to Phnom Penh is another 550 baht with grab ,or sometimes more than that if you can't find the bus. So, if we calculate it carefully, just get on the double decker bus from mochit to Phnom Penh with 950 baht. Cos it is cost effective, time saver and more convenient. At the border, there are a bunch of group who will chase selling you for the ride. You can avoid all those 😔 troubles when you booked double decker bus with 950 baht.
thank you sir for this informative video 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you sir!

Welcome to Cambodia bro😊
Wow that’s very good
Yes extremely affordable and easy!
This is the same driver Mr Rộng sending me from Siem Reap to Poipet regularly . I been paying 45 USD each way too . He is a good n careful driver on the road , only thing he can’t speak English nor Thai
Wow, you are excited easily. I thought I was late in going to Cambodia in the early 90s. Quick tip that I learnt in 1989 on my first trip to SEA: don't talk to anyone approaching you on the street. How did people ever travel without the internet???
God bless ,being brave is awesome!! , BE safe !!
Thanks a lot John!
Do not trust anyone, recommend finding a tour guide. For your safety in this country
Yes definitely !
I'll be your free tour guide lots of expat forum also no need to pay for that
Just some cases Cambodia definitely safer than Thailand. I got scammed in Thailand several times.
Don’t even compare Thailand with Cambodia we all know Cambodia is more safe
I never get scammed in Thailand, but been to Cambodia twice and got scammed twice. After that I also found out that there is some term on internet called "Scambodia", apparently lots of people got scammed in Cambodia.. and there are many ways like taxi or massage or even on the street. Cambodia is famous about these things
Thai Railways is a state enterprise whose policy is fair, non-profit, starting from the 5th King started the railway.
Chris, I have just watched this video. Thank you very much! However, I am sorry for your experience with the taxi ride. I want to do the same way to Krong Siemp Reap in June this year and wanted to ask if there is a direct bus from the boarder? Thanks!
excellent
Thanks so much!
single travel cheaper to just fly then love the content love channel rich
Yes next time I'm flying
Welcome bro 😄
Thank you so much!
Hey Chris , where are you coming from Thai land on that cheap train that took you guys to Cambodia? And is it in Seam Reap where you got the train? Thanks
Hey Chris, thanks for making this video! I’m thinking of doing a Singapore-Thailand-Cambodia trip in March. I was in Poipet two last weeks ago and the taxi drivers are aggressive! I gave into a driver after being followed for 20 minutes and paid $42 for 3 people from Poipet to Battambang which I felt was a rip but whatever. I’ve gotta be travel savvy next time around.
Did you pay anything else after you got dropped off from the tuk tuk ride?
in Cambodia is weird , some of them are scamming you like a water bottle for locals is 50 cent but the same bottle for tourists is 1 dollars I think this is unfair
This is so true I live in poipet and the tuktuks and taxi drivers are so aggressive they tried to scam me even though I was a little kid and I'm not even foreign 💀
I’m going to cambodia next month as a female solo traveler. I’m looking at my option for going from thailand and cambodia and I think I will fly 😅 when you were being followed and had to switch to a tuk tuk I was so nervous, I dont think this would be safe for me while alone. Thanks for this video it helped so much!
I just watched a very recent You Tube from Global Travel Mate as they flew Air Asia to Siem Reap so look for that and suggest follow.
@@britlooking thank you!
It’s a $100 or cheaper for a ticket on Air Asia from Bangkok Don Mueang Airport to Siem Reap. It’s an hour flight.
I will be going from Bangkok to Cambodia will be there 16 JUNE STAY SAFE
@@maryedwards1674Recommend ziplining and Malis Restaurant (delicious mango salad, baked fish, sour beef sausage, and palm fruit dessert). June is also in season for durian and other fruits if you like them. Highly recommend you fly from Siem Reap to Sihanoukville and go to Koh Rong Sanloem and stay at Lazy Beach Bungalow at least for a few nights. Stay longer if you can. Great beach there and you can see luminescent planktons along the beach just several feet from your bungalow.
I recently found ur channel and subscribed. Could have been same interest content or other vlogger recommended regardless wanted to check out "nomadic"that you referenced. If i can't find my bad due to my ignorance but it sure seems like vloggers in general say they will provide link but never do. You will be way ahead of your competition by just following thru with what was promised.
I totally forgot to, will add it now. I've just had so much going on and edited this a few days ago
Incredible how this form of transportation can be so affordable.
Yes crazy! Only $1.25 ! Absolutely insane!
It amazes me how the economy is so different in other countries
Oh man, so different! You'll see how different Cambodia is in this series!
Haha, Gladys at 14:09
Good one.
Did they ask at Cambodia immigration the return or exit flight ticket detail ?
Or you can exit Cambodia by land border
Hello world watching from Philippines🇵🇭
Thanks so much ❤️🙏🏻
Hi Chris new to this channel so im late in saying this to you. but 45 dollers for 4 peopel in a private taxi is very good. the actual price for one person to Siem reap is about 10-12 bucks. anyways enjoyed your videos, you have found a new sub
12:30 that's our casino i work there.. 😂😂 new subscriber here. 😂😂
I have been to Siemreap many time I chosse go by plane cause not tried and take short time but if you go by train from Aranyapathet to Poipet you will tried trip long tiime to Seimreap.
you gonna miss Thailand 😊
Yes I will miss it so much!
Chris - sorry you had a rough start with your journey in Cambodia. I heard the government is cracking down on these kind of scams now in 2024. Hopefully, this will be a thing of the past. On a brighter note, don’t be sad. These sort of ordeals are part of the “journey.”
The Thorn Tree forum run by Lonely Planet was the go to for travel. Most of the info you could find there was posted by budget traveller's.
Rough?? You should have done it 19 years ago.
I would love that route. I´ve had a life time, of roughing the Campesino buses in Panama. I would consider that option.
Yes you should check it out! Its worth the adventure!
Hello👋 Thanks for the video, i got an idea how to cross the border for a cheaper transpo! I wanna ask if it is possible to come back to thailand within that day that you cross the border? Thank you😊
Need help .. I want to travel solo from Bangkok to Cambodia by train...
Can you please tell me From where you bought the train ticket in Cambodia??
And kindly mention the time of all train...
Another thing is I want on arrival visa...
Is that sticker visa?
And which documents should I show to immigration???
Thanks....
Welcome to CAMBODIA 🇰🇭❤️
Thank you so much!
Hi..Chris....
I think I saw you at Bangkok this few days ......did you went to jodd fair last Saturday ? And today you at Iconsiam? 🤔😁
More about E visas please
Taxi can’t go into Siem Reap town or the drivers get a fine. That is why you transfer to a Tuk Tuk. It is not a scam - it has been the case for at least 20 years.
About 3-4 month thailand have new railtrain you go by train fast to double of time.
Wow!!! I can't wait to come back to try that one! Sounds amazing!
The biggest tip for SEA is, be calm. Losing face is huge, it's more that those people have first go at getting a tour with them that's it. Smile and relax......
Be polite and respectful.
I ain't gonna lie, I miss Phuket
Can you please tell how did you get from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh?
Hi, very informative video, i just have one question... so i am planning to go from Bangkok to Cambodia through train in this way but i am confused about what to show during my Thailand on arrival visa process where i will have to show the departure ticket from the country, so what did you show in that during visa on arrival process since you didn't book any train in advance... Thank you
To be honest, I didn't get asked for an exit flight at all! Just tell the people at the check in counter that you're leaving by land!
Do you need an ongoing ticket to enter Cambodia? Vietnam or Laos? Do you need to show that you've booked a hotel room? BTW, I think unvaxxed can take an antigen test on arrival.
No, you do not need it!
FYI they want USD and the best place to exchange Baht or Dong is at Gold Shops through black market for the best rates. But....They did accept Dong because my USD bill weren't perfect. If you are using USD in Cambodia make sure they are clean with no marks or damage or you will be denied at most places. Travel on!
lol. I've been in Siem Reap for 2.5 years since I couldn't get my flight to Laos when everything shut down immediately with the Pandemic. I'm at 16:35 listening to the driver tell you "No English" when you ask if he will take you to your hotel. An experienced driver who doesn't understand "take me to my hotel"? Yeah, right. NO WAY he will take you to your hotel. I'm gonna keep watchin' to see if a miracle happens. Okay. Finished watching. You were REALLY lucky that the tuk-tuk driver wasn't part of a scam getting more money. Sounds like a nice guy.
I've lived here three times now. Observation to offer: there is a characteristic of Khmer culture with communication I see over and over and over again that might be helpful to you. When the guy tells you he will take you to Siem Reap, he IS taking you to Siem Reap, but so are other people. It doesn't mean Siem Reap or your hotel is his destination.
Another example: I moved into a very quiet apartment in Siem Reap. A few weeks later, I woke up to the trees next to my kitchen window being cut down. They were clearing the land to build something. Banging metal against metal and sawing has been constant. It's very loud. The owner of the apartments told me the people were building a small metal structure "like a street restaurant across the street" and would take one week. It did take one week, but it also took 5 MORE weeks. This is the 6th week of a build of a small brick and cement house with lots of metal framework. How we think of things and communicate that is very different between cultures.
Another thing you will see are prices MUCH higher for foreigners than for locals if you aren't careful. If you can afford it, that's great. People need help. It has been a struggle for everyone during the pandemic. I questioned one driver I got to know about the EXTREMELY high cost he wanted me to pay (over $350) when I knew the cost with others (ABOUT $160). He had no trouble explaining to me that his income had been harshly reduced during the pandemic and he didn't see a problem with making that up with charging me.
Tuk-tuk drivers telling you, "yes, yes, yes" when you ask if they know where your destination is when they really don't. People don't like to say no or that they don't know something. In those cases, the driver might take you to a place you have know idea where you are or want to charge you much more because they had to drive you around so much because they were lost. Welcome to Cambodia.
Not suprising at Poipet. I love Cambodia; and go there twice a year for business. In November 2019 I took a visa run through Poipet; the most miserable experience in Cambodia I ever experienced (and I have travelled much of the country). Our 8 hour bus ride to Poipet ended up 12 hours; causing us to miss the 9:pm deadline. Then was ripped off by tuk tuk driver; who then took me to a "good" hotel (I had expected to cross the border that night). The hotel was awful, and charged me twice the rate of Phnom Penh - and twice the rate the hotel normally charged (the rates were posted right on his desk !). This was obviously to pay off the tuk tuk driver - who came in with me to cash in on the scam. I call Poipet the "toilet bowl" of Cambodia !
Thanks for a very informative video. When I saw it I stopped thinking about Cambodia as s travel destination. I hope you will stil be able to enjoy Cambodia.
I'm all about an adventure. I'd have gotten that taxi to take me to the airport. Do you have a friend or family member with access to your account? That way if something happens to you guys, we can deal with it. Good luck and safe journeys. 👋 Gladys
Wow, that's the old train station in Bangkok. It's totally changed now. I've been on lots of trains over there, and the bathrooms are usually pretty bad. I'd pay $1.50 for a ticket, but I don't think my wife would. In Siem Reip, I would avoid the marijuana pizza if I were you.
Be careful in Cambodia a lot of scammer by taxi drivers big scammers by taxi. I knew about that my sister was in Cambodia not to long ago.
Thanks so much for that advice! I definitely will!
Welcome to my birth country bro,I’m going there on the 16th next month too 😁
Sorry for your bad experience 😂 I feel ashamed but it’s is what it is, just be careful and take care bro
Retracing the movements of the Royal Thai Army on it's way to clash with Vichy French troops amassed throughout Northwest Cambodia in 1940. I'm referring to the Franco-Thai War of 1940-1941. For a couple of months, around 80 years ago, battles were fought in and around the towns of Seam Reap, Sisophon, and Battambang. The French were victorious at the Battle of Koh Chang (a naval battle), Japan intervened, and an armistice was brokered that favored Thailand - the war ended. Here's an excerpt from Wiki regarding some of the fighting:
"At dawn on January 16, 1941, the French launched a large counterattack on the Thai-held villages of Yang Dang Khum and Phum Preav, initiating the fiercest battle of the war. Due to poor coordination and nonexistent intelligence against the entrenched and well-prepared Thai forces, the French operation was stopped and fighting ended with a French retreat from the area. However, the Thais were unable to pursue the retreating French, as their forward tanks were kept in check by the gunnery of French Foreign Legion artillery."
Visa on arrival is $30 for 30 days: one entry. For multiple entry it’s $35 for 30 days 😉
Thanks for that!
there is airconditioner bus from bangkok to aranya-pratate but perhaps 400-500baht // all provinces in thailand can be reached by aircon bus// In your case, if the immigration is at the train station then train is excellent for the trip
How?
@@JoyAlarcon02 Go buy a ticket at the Bangkok Bus Terminal (Mo Chit 2) near Wachirabenjatit Park in Bangkok.
Welcome to Cambodia!
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy the videos from Cambodia!
hey bro, do you know the time if you ride the train going back to bangkok? and if coming from suvrabani aiport how to catch the first train what station to go?
Welcome to Cambodia
Thank you 🇰🇭
$13 dollars isn’t a bad deal at all. The bad part was that the Lexus dud didn’t dropped you off at your hotel and change you for $13. So he just let you deal with the tuk tuk guy instead
It's generally the way if the driver can't speak any English. They will have a spot they get local tuktuk drivers to drive you to your hotel included in the price, so the TukTuk drivers have First crack at you for a tour. If you do your homework these people know the best places to go.
@@BIGJED75 IT IS A SCAM! Don’t defend the scam!
Taxi like that in Cambodia is more like a bus than an actual taxi. We Cambodian called it taxi but there is nothing taxi about. They take you from one stop to another, not to the hotel. If you want them to take you to the hotel you should have bargain with the people who were hassling you at the border. You can rent the whole car and they will take you to your destination.
To avoid hassles at the border, ignore everyone else and walk well away and then bargain whatever transport you need.
Hi , I'm from Australia want to stay in Thailand around 50 days. Is it ok just to arrive on a 30 day visa you get at the airport ? PS Arriving at Don Munag Airport in Bangkok.
Wow saw this on other videos too. I am curious if they do that to Thai and Khmer nationals
Not sure to be honest!
