Someone has to tell Bro about the OG series 😂 it started in the early 90s and ended in 1997. This is a continuation of the original series.

Scott can and has, many times. He’s shredded the muscles and organs from Logan’s bones with a look. Cyke’s an excellent hand to hand fighter too. During X-men vs Avengers Scott was fighting Cap and a small ricochet from his beam off Cap’s shield took Logan out. 🤣
Storm was always GOATED the fox movies just didn't properly show it because they were so focused on Wolverine.

Apparently you're thinking of Rogue from the movies. In this and comic versions of the X-Men, Rogue absorbed Captain Marvel's powers and held on long enough to put Carol Danvers in a coma. This basically gave permanent super strength, durability and flight. There was a flashback to this in the old 90s animated show.
Gambit's power is to charge objects with kinetic energy and make them explode. The bigger the object though, the longer it takes to charge which is why he loves using playing cards; they're small and thin enough to charge almost instantly but can still blow up decently enough to be useful in combat.
he can do more in the comics he saw a future where he took out everyone and got scared so he went trough a operation where he nerfed himself from omega level mutant to a alfa level. Apparently before he nerfed himself he could make a shield with his powers to protect his mind from psychics powers and he could even nullify touched based powers so he could be with rouge but yea after the nerf he basically lost access to all that.

He was never seen using his power properly or his training. X-Men '97 is delivering peak Cyclops. They're all getting the proper display of power and competence they should have. No more dry goofy sh*t and no more Wolverine as the star. He can get his shine here and there but he's part of a group of superior mutants. He gotta play his position as the grumpy team mascot, lol.

So just a little insight. This is a next day follow up to the X-Men: Animated Series (1994-1997) that spanned across 5 seasons and ended on a cliff-hanger with the "death" of Professor X back in 1997. The show covered events such as Days of Future Past and The Dark Phoenix saga with both often being credit as being better than the actual comics by a good amount of people, I personally prefer the Animated Dark Phoenix over the comic myself. So the versions of The X-Men you see in X-Men 97 already have five seasons worth of character develop and stories but you can 100% follow this show without knowing much about the original series, 97 has alot of call backs and references but there explained pretty well for new audiences.
This show is also set within a greater Marvel Universe similar to the MCU but known as the Marvel Animated Universe, MAU. At 1:29 in Times Square you can see a Stark industries advert and there's also a daily bugle newspaper that mentions Spider-Man.
The 1990s Spider-Man Animated Series had a crossover episode with The 90s X-Men with the same voice actors and character designs. X-Men 94 had cameos of other Marvel characters ranging from War Machine, Thor, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Ghost Rider, Hulk, and Punisher to name a few. Other Marvel shows during the 1990s like Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, Silver Surfer, iron Man, and Spider-Man also had cameos of their own all existing together in the same universe.
X-Men 97 is as close to the comics you can get until the X-Men are introduced into the MCU. Early to say if any non X-Men characters will show up but I would love to see it in this show. The Avengers were pretty unknown during this by anyone beyond comic fans. But today The Avengers are far more well known and mainstream so I wouldn't mind seeing a little Avengers cameo in X-Men 97 or even even just give us 1990s Spider-Man that would be amazing.

Don this is basically season 6 of the original series from the 90's. It premiered in '92 and season 5 ended in '96. This is called X-men '97 because it's a continuation. You don't need to watch the original seasons though

These are each of the X men's abilities
Bishop: Energy absorbtion and redirection
Gambit: charge objects with kinetic energy making them explode
Rogue: Absorb the powers, skills and knowledge of any mutuant with a touch. If he touches someone long enough there powers permeantly become hers.
Cyclops: Optic Concussive energy blasts not heat vision. He harnesses interdimensional energy which he projects with his eyes into kinetic concussive blasts . His blasts don't disentagrate or burn they punch.
x-men '97 is a direct sequel series to x-men the animated series, which ended in '96. so all the animation, writing and voice work is totally original!
rogue actually has the powers of captain marvel: flight, invulnerability etc from when she “completely drained” her powers when she was a villain along with her innate power absorption ofc
Gambits red and black eyes are just a physical aspect of his mutation. At one point in the comics he lost his eyes & gained a secondary mutation; a form of clairvoyance.
Fun Fact: Cyclops doesnt shoot heat or laser out of his eyes, he shoots kinetic energy which is why he can hit ppl with his eyes, his kinetic energy comes from a whole different dimension
They made Storm what she was supposed to be. Lightning strikes can turn sand to glass.
If you don't want to react to the original show that this is a continuation of, X-Men: The Animated Series, I can understand. It can be overwhelming.
New Rockstars has a good full series breakdown video that summarizes the original show. I definitely recommend watching that at least. Looking forward to you watching this continuation.
Also, don't rely on movie knowledge. The movies got alot of things wrong, and they are a poor imitation of the comics while the animated show is pretty close to the source material in comparison.

Gambit is able to ‘charge’ matter, essentially being able to just blow up anything he touches (he uses a deck of cards and throws them as grenades a lot of the time). His eyes glow like that as the writers were originally going to make him a generic sibling of Cyclops and Havoc, but they bottled it to create a new character (Vulcan).
Bishop is able to absorb large amounts of energy and either redirect that energy or hold it for superhuman physical abilities.
Rogue is able to fly and has super strength as she held on to Ms. Marvel (MCU’s Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers) for a prolonged period, permanently granting her strength and flight powers along with her original power of life energy absorption.
Any mutant that can affect the environment on a global scale is an Omega level mutant. Ice Man, Storm, Magneto, Marvel Girl, Even Gambit (it was theorized that Gambit could charge up the Earth and cause it to explode).

Rogue has always been country , fam. Go back and watch the movies, you’ll hear her southern drawl. As we call it in America 😂. Wolverine is Canadian, gambit is probably from New Orleans, storm is from Harlem or Brooklyn but has close ties with family in Africa. And Rogue is from Mississippi. That’s where I’m from and she sounds just like how southern white women would sound.

Professor Xavier supposed death is a bit confusing to fans of the original series. He was injured in the original series finale yet didn’t die. He would have but they were able to enlist the help of the Shi’ar who believed they could save him, though it required him leaving Earth possibly forever. With the 97 series repeatedly referencing his death nobody knows what to think with the main theories being they faked it for the public, Bishop’s sudden & unexplained appearance could mean it’s an alternate timeline considering he’s a time traveler, or they’ve retconned the original ending. I find the idea of a retcon highly unlikely and unnecessary.

Bruh... Storm was ALWAYS like this in the comics. She's literally a goddess connected to the planet's atmosphere and can do more than just manipulate it. She can cause so much damage. Just think about the worst weather this world has seen, she can create that on a whim. She's constantly keeping her own power in check. The movies were a absolutely terrible adaption of X-Men. All they did was gas up dry, lame ass Wolverine. A whole bunch of Wolverine movies... not one X-Men movie.😂
X-Men '97 is saving the brand and letting the world know that the X-Men are the real #1 of Marvel, not The Avengers.
Storm, Jean, and Iceman are the only omega-level mutants on the X-Men. Magneto too but he's only a temporary X-Man.
