That's debatable. But Nuggets have a 2-1 record without Jokic, they beat a healthy Clippers without Jokic & Murray. OKC is 2-5 without Shai. I think they'd for sure be a lottery team without Shai. That team is way too young, Shai's superstardom & leadership is what took them to the top.

The only real MVP options are Luka and Jokić with both being correct answers but, I’d give it to Luka because he’s done more with less. Injuries and lack of team size killed Lukas “team success” for the first half of the year and the second they filled the holes needed and stayed healthy they’ve been balling. All-NBA Teams should not be postionless imo, but if it was still the traditional 2 guards, 2 forwards, & a Center, I would choose Doncic & Shai as the 2 guards. Ant really has potential to be the next great SG under MJ, Kobe, & Wade, but I feel like he still has lots to improve on. He definitely took a step up this year, but there's still a lot of room for improvement. He still has a lot of nights where he struggles badly, scoring single digits only, inconsistencies, & shooting terribly. I'd like to see him take another step up next season, put himself in the MVP discussions, top player discussions, & become more efficient. Exactly like how Shai took a step this year from last year. Ant has all the tools though.

There are stats which can answer those queries.
Individual success - Points Assists, rebounds, blocks etc.
Value to the team - PIE(Player Impact Estimate).
If you're talking individual success, then Luka is above SGA on points, assists and rebounds, hell, his average is close to a 30 pt triple double(33.9 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 9.8 apg).
And if you're talking about PIE for these 3 players, both Jokic and Luka are above SGA.
Which is to say, both Luka and Jokic have more of an impact on their team than SGA. Both Denver and Dallas' fall way down when Jokic and Luka are absent, compared to Shai in OKC.
Without the 3 star players in any of these 3 teams, OKC is a much more op and balanced team than Denver and Dallas.

Shaq saying 30 point games argument with shai isn't making sense because then it should be luka who has more 30 point games. People need to stop the narrative that Joker isn't playing with any Allstars. Just because you aren't selected to the actual team, doesn't mean your aren't an Allstar caliber player. Jamal Murray balls out like a superstar every playoffs, better than some actual superstars do. If the Nuggets were the East, he'd be selected as an Allstar just like all them years Khris Middleton was selected mostly due to the Bucks having a top record. Not being selected to the Allstar game, does not mean you aren't an Allstar level player. Also, Murray's numbers in games that Jokic is out is just about the same as when he's in. Excluding his rookie year, these are Murray's averages in games that Jokic sat, 20ppg, 5ast, 4.4reb, 46% FG%, 48% from 3pt. I excluded the rookie year because you can't expect much from a rookie.
Kyrie not an all star in the western conference tho. He’s not better than SGA or Steph curry. Even JA morant can beat him for an all star spot. So yeah nuggets have no all stars besides joker

@@dukec2255 The point is, Kyrie's an Allstar caliber player, & he didn't make it because he was injured earlier in the year, missed 22 games prior to the Allstar break. If he wasn't injured, he definitely would've made it probably over Paul George or AD since the Lakers weren't winning at that time. Only 12 players can make the Allstar team, that doesn't mean other players aren't deserving. A guy like Sabonis was definitely deserving.
And since you brought up Curry, Kyrie's stats are actually better than his this year, that's crazy right? A 2nd option having better stats than a 1st option player. Lol

There was literally a time you had to be top four (home court advantage) in your conference to get an MVP. I don't know exactly when that changed but I remember clearly that the reason KG got his only MVP was because he finally managed that feat.
New NBA fans don't know that your team's standing actually matters in the MVP conversation and think it really is just a straight forward "Who is the most valuable for their team".
If that was the case then it wouldn't matter if your team was in the playoffs either.
So that's why SGA has a stronger case than Luka.
Team record has always and will always matter.
Mvp shouod be jokic or luka. If you consider all the games the mavs played with kyrie out or luka or others players out and still getting 50 wins and not to mention luka was getting his numbers while still playing on with lingering injuries combined with his numbers scoring title and historic 73 pt night should be enough to give him the nod imo
People really forgot or just choosing to ignore the biggest factor on Jokic winning his 2nd MVP. He had 2k points, 1k rebs and 500 assists that season. The first and only to ever to that! Russ won his for averaging a triple double, first since Big O. Both also lead the league in advanced stats. It made sense why the voters gave them a pass despite being 6th seed.
My point is Luka doesn't have anything like those this season. He may have great stats, but nothing really historic or record breaking. If they were too 3 seed, he'd definitely deserve to get it but not as a 5th seed.

Brunson is 4th in the league in scoring, 7 assists a game, and more importantly, has a team as the second seed while playing without their entire starting front court for half of the season. It is incredible.
And because of his presence, three guys on their team are having career seasons. If Brunson is not MVP, the only other possible one is SGA.
Luka is still a stat player. His stats are better than he is.
I think what they do is bad for SGA. He might be in this discussion at some point in his career and potentially win the mvp legitimately. But if they give it to him now everyone knows it is bullshit and that is how it would be remembered.
I'm sorry but the NBA needs to be realigned because the disparity between conferences is absurdly large. No team in the East would even make the playoffs in the West other than the Celtics. Even the Celtics aren't doing so hot against the top teams in the West.

For Joker's supporting cast he has one of the best defenders and beat offensive shooters in the league with Gordon and Jamal Murry. Jamal Murry has been to the play offs multiple times and PREFORMED and he has led scoring for the nuggets multiple times Gordon is just solid and the rest of the team is good. We need to stay yapping about all-nba like that matters half of it is popularity otherwise Jamal Murry would be considered more. And speaking of all NBA who outside of Kyrie has been on Luka's team - and tbh half of his team can't even make over 10pts half the time. Luka and Kyrie have to drop 25+ each a game to even be competitive
SGA carried his team on his back. It ain't even close. Without him that team might not even qualify. Joker is great but the way they all judged it last year and the years before. Giannis lost out a few times because they said that he hadn't improved a lot over the previous years. Joker is right up there but if that was one of the criteria he dint improve by much either and when you talk about the 3rd mvp well they expected a lot of giannis. Need to keep the same energy. Cannot be changing the rules. Moreover, SGA as a pg, scoring, defence and overall leadership has been right up there with the elites. Atleast for this regular season and amongst all the MVPs his usage rate and leadership due to the young cast plays a much bigger role. Most Valuable to his team has to be SGA. It isnt just 30 point games its the sum of everything.
Honestly I don’t think Jokic should’ve won his first 2 MVPs. I think he should’ve got the next 2 but that’s not what happened so it holds me back tbh because he already has those 2 and by the same logic he got them which I didn’t think he should get, Luka should blow this one out of the water. He’s averaging by far better numbers, does more heavy lifting and has lost a lot of surrounding players due to injury while the Nuggets are an amazing team that just mesh so well together. But the narrative shifts and changes every year so whatever. Every time I lose more faith in the MVP debate and care less and less for it. There have always been and will always be absolute robberies with players not getting more when they deserve or getting them when they don’t as much as someone else especially when the people voting don’t even know what they’re voting for and change it up all the damn time.

IMO, the reason OKC have a similar record to Denver is because Mark Daigneault is a far superior coach to Michael Malone. Malone gas great analysis after the fact but his in game coaching is dreadful! He is just very fortunate to have Jokic and his record without him is awful.
