A while back when I was an English teacher in Tokyo I taught a lesson to an executive in the film division at Fuji. He told me that one of the reasons for the differences in the look between Fuji and Kodak is that at Fuji they use the snow on the top of Mt Fuji as their reference point for white, while at Kodak they use the untanned inner thigh of a Scandinavian model. I don't know if that is true, but it's a fun story.

I expected to like Kodak Gold more, but after shooting both, I think I prefer the cooler and more realistic colors that Fuji C200 produces. Thanks for the video!

It so amazing the countless hours I spent in the dark room developing my film to print vs the instance gratifications of digital.
Thanks for this video. I need to get back in the game.

This is a fantastic video! I always have used Kodak Gold, partly because this was what my dad used when we were little, but I much prefer the colours and shadow details from C200. I am a convert!

C200 for the win. Shot with both and I absolutely love the way C200 looks and the colors it produces.

Wow, the c200 looks like it has a lot more in common with a higher tier professional film stock than it does with Kodak Gold.
I've shot more Ultramaxx and 800 speed disposable film than I care to admit, and it looks like I've been sleeping on a legend in C200.
No one else on youtube that I've seen (and I have watched far more film photography videos than is healthy) has broken this down more clearly.
C200 is a closer relative to pro 400h than Kodak Gold 200 from the looks of it.
Thanks so much for this to you and Sam!

This video is informative and interesting. But the commentator uses "kind of" and "sort of" too often. These are non-committal phrases that distract viewers and weaken legitimacy. For example, she says, "this is kind of your quintessential summer holiday film." Something is either quintessential, or it is not. There is no thing that is "kind of quintessential." Loose the "kind of" and "sort of" and commit to excellence.

Your comparison is was of time .... and totally false due to those two films sold today !!
Why ??? ... because your comparasion is about the OLD Fuji C200 !!
Nowadays both films are IDENTICAL and made by KODAK !! ... in other words ... it does not matter what you buy, it's ALWAYS Kodak Gold !!
