Love that album. (When you say “produced,” some might think he’s only a producer. Not an amazing singer/songwriter. Just sayin’.) I had a huge teenage crush on Tim. Only saw him twice, both times from first row (Central Park-Shaeffer; Max’s Kansas City NYC). Saw Jeff many times: first time was at a memorial concert for Tim in my hood (Brooklyn): blew everyone away. I knew a couple of performers and was going to dinner with one so went backstage... met Jeff. We didn’t have a “friendship,” but we shared a few beers after a few shows. Saw him about 15 times. Last time: CBGB’s. Glad to see someone mention Tim: he is deep in my heart. Both are. When youtube was younger you couldn’t find videos of Tim. But now there are some. Not nearly enough of course, but at least some. A good one of Honey Man.

I think NYC was second best, not necessarily for the music because everyone played here, but yearlong warm weather made it easier for flower power. And so many more parks and outdoor concerts when everyone was just fledgling. I missed the summer of love-too young (im 66) but got everything else. Judy Collins was the first concert I went to age 14 then Phil Ochs (my hero) and then the Grateful Dead who player a few blocks from my home in an old movie theater. Lots of west coast bands played there... I was in high school in brooklyn. Yes thanks for the memories. Music held my hand through all the tough times ...and still does. This is the most recorded anthem of the past decade or more. It's the product of the most gifted of rock/folk/pop songwriters of the past fifty years, the late Canadian Leonard Cohen, and the gifted young voice phenom and one-record wonder, Jeff Buckley, who drowned shortly after putting out the record (his father, fine singer Tim Buckley, died of an OD very young, as well). Leonard Cohen wrote an entire collection of great songs, most famously "Suzanne." Buckley's entire studio album is wonderful.

The gentleman who's the bass voice Can go so deep that he can blow out speakers. He Can go so deep that he can blow out speakers. He also has the very rare ability to sing 2 different notes at the same time. If you see a Pentatonix video after 2017 then the base has changed from Avi to matt. Have you reacted to Pentatonix yet? I don't believe so. This is the perfect song to start you down the PTX rabbit hole. You will be amazed. Also, in honor of Eddie Van Halen, who passed yesterday (you reated to VH Jump, like a week ago), I am requesting a reaction of Eruption solo, live without a net as a tribute to one of the greatest guitarists ever! Thanks!

Rufus Wainwrite did a cover of this that was on Shrek.
It was written by Leonard Cohen, but basically everybody has done a cover. Rumor has it that Cohen wrote hundreds of verses, but only included like four when he recorded it. A few of the covers use a few different verses, but most of them are just gone.

This song was written by Leonard Cohen from Montreal. It's been covered many, many times and is now very popular. You may want to actually listen to Cohen singing this himself as its available on CZcams. Cohen has written some brilliant stuff and you may want to investigate some of his other material.

The original was by Leonard Cohen, but this is the most famous version - and for good reason. Buckley reinvents the song and delivers a transcendent vocal performance. Most of the other covers you'll hear are based on this version -- like Rufus Wainwright's version (the one you heard in Shrek). If you want to hear another great cover version, try K.D. Lang's.
