Shame they dont still train nurses like this. One thing is certain:- learning on the job, by doing, produced a far superior grade of R.N. These days, old school trained R.N's are highly sought after

In the USA this type of hands on training still is given to LPNs. They hit the floor as new graduates ready to care for patients. Runs are now paper pushers and managers more than ready care givers in many ways. Although they do take positions they train for quite well that are at a higher level than LPns.

Nice video. Is nice how they differentiate between the student nurse and the RN. Blue and white hehe

To be honest, it was all about 'the hat'. Every student Nurse desperately wanted the white starched long hat when qualifying, far more than the white dress.

Wow did they not have gloves in 1979. They need to do this at all nursing schools now I’m legally blind and I can tell you that people don’t even understand what it is it’s really sad .

I love Service dogs Back in the day before the aid outbreak not a lot of people used gloves because they didn't get the risk of contracting a illness or so they thought

Of course we understood then about contracting blood borne viruses etc ! We risk assessed the need for gloves, too often nowadays they're worn unnecessarily. We washed our hands properly, which is something that 'got lost ' when glove wearing for everything came in. Recently the importance of hard washing had to be almost rediscovered and re taught .
