  • Visit Disney's Animation Research Library for a look at the art of Sleeping Beauty with Maleficent producer Don Hahn. Don, who began his career archiving Disney's early animated art collection, illustrates how the art of Marc Davis, Eyvind Earle, and other Disney studio artists lives on in the new film. Their art inspired some of the film's signature moments and helped bring Angelina Jolie's character to life in Maleficent.

Love Mark Davis! Thank you Don for sharing some insight into the story telling process and recognizing the names of those who made contributions to Sleeping Beauty and equally talented animators who created unseen beautiful concept art.

Angelina's version of Maleficent pales in comparison to the animated/Eleanor Audley version. Angelina looks nothing like the animated version, her look is very different, it's not as elegant and regal looking as the animated version, it's more science fiction than medieval looking. Maleficent's costume is supposed to have purple and also she wore purple eyeshadow as well. The headpiece she wears is different too, it doesn't have the bat wings in the sides. Overall the animated version of Maleficent is the best and most timeless version. :)
