- Tom Wait provides the latest on a tragic story out of Baldwin Park, where a three-month-old puppy named Bowie was allegedly accidentally euthanized days before he was set to be adopted. Now, the LA County Board of Supervisors is set to investigate the incident.
How about turning the facilities into a No Kill Shelters? To kill Bowie was unconscionable.
He was only 3 months old how sad 😔
So sad look at him innocent and at our mercy nobody to help him. Imagine healthy pups can be killed when they should be adopted. Rest in Peace little one.

Happens daily in LA area shelters. It's not a mistake at all. It's complete apathy.
30% is huge!!! That’s probably due to the increase of asshole people who got animals when COVID started and then decided they didn’t want them anymore once COVID died down. Those people are shitbags. The choice to get an animal is deciding to take care of it for life, not until it becomes inconvenient for you. Bowie had an opportunity for love and happiness and somebody’s incompetence took that away, hopefully they get fired. I’m sorry Bowie didn’t have a chance at life, that’s so unbelievably sad.

Absolutely agree. It's sickening how many pets have been turned in to shelters in the last year. People who don't deserve pets.
This is not the first time nor the last time. It's not just LA county it's also LA city shelters as well. We are the voice of these animals and not many people want to speak for them. All lives matter.

Can I just mention that I've been attempting to adopt (not from this location but LA county animal shelters in general) and they make the process SO difficult it's insane. They don't provide accurate information for the animals nor is it a pleasant place to be. I adopted my previous pet and wanted to save another but at this point, I've decided to shop. That's how bad it's become. I saw Bowie being offered on their website as well... poor puppy. Rest in peace. Poor animals.
Don't shop. You make the problem worse. Do it for these more creatures that need someone like you to fight all the way and get to save one.

Outrageous that this young dog was killed!!! Looking at his video absolutely breaks my heart. Somebody has to pay for this, lose his or her job, legal action. Something. This cannot go unpunished.

i have been complaining about this to Supervisor Kathryn Bargers office for over a year and i have all the emails to prove it
People need to do a better job. Obviously they don’t love their job. I know it’s stressful and complicated but to allow things to get this bad is unacceptable. Also the people of socal have to do better here in Northern California we have voted for many of our shelters to not euthanize any animal unless the animal is struggling.

LA County Animal Shelters hire a bunch of freaking idiots. I’ve been trying to adopt a puppy for the last 2 months and it’s been super frustrating to deal with these LA County Shelters now I know why people buy dogs on craiglist.

I am at Baldwin park animal shelter daily I adopted my dog Luna who was at the shelter the same time as Bowie we knew Bowie at the time he had no name just his ID number he was a very scared puppy sad traumatized shaking huddled up to other smaller dogs in the kennel terrified this was on November 14th my dog Luna was facing his kennel in the back he was under evaluation at the time , my son and my mother an me were interested in taking him home but were told he isn’t adoptable to the public an is rescue only an some idiot surrendered them because of the land lord etc we felt terrible for him I would call everyday to make sure he got adopted an on December 4 along with Sky an Alaskan Husky I bonded with they were both euthanized I learned the news on December 9th and was heart broken an deeply depressed I called the shelter an was angry an out raged instead it was excuses “ such as “ we contacted”” many rescues no one came through “

If this is the same one off of Ramona and Baldwin Park they illegally put down my family dog Milo. My folks left him in the shelter to be cared for while we were in the middle of moving and the idiots at the shelter decided to put him down when we went to go visit him and really did not give a reason why. This was over 15-20 years ago

Sad. But the pounds, shelters, rescues are overflowing with animals. A mistake as it’s even being called by those making the accusations is highly possible.
Dogs are being bred to an excessive rate and the mixes people are doing is insane. Huskies, shepherds and other large dogs which are being bred with toy “hypo”allergenic breeds and calling them miniature and allergy safe is disgusting. Sadly people that know nothing about dogs are paying hundreds of dollars for them, just to get rid of them after six months or more because of allergies.
Then the dummies that get dogs and live in apartments.

I am so disgusted of the evilness on the Earth. My heart is broken. All I see is death and destruction. God loves all his creatures.. I can’t seem to like the tears watching this. Looking at this poor, defensive little baby knowing that he was going to die you can see it in his face. How dare they in life that way. So disgusting and disturbing.
This was really terrible. It’s also very sad how many are killed because there is just not enough room in these shelters. I agree that irresponsible owners are why there are so many animals in these shelters in the first place

I get all the outrage, I really do, but there is so little of this when if comes to the usual profiles that litter an official AC kill-list from which a high percentage of them die a death you would never want to witness. I couldn’t care less about some drug addict or lazy, homeless person. This is a helpless by puppy, and I care more about his life than a homeless person.
People have the capability to navigate their own lives, most animals do not have that ability and therefore need our help. It's not even comparable.
