    I paid $214.00 out the door 4 mine, back in early aught's 01-02? Black box & 4 slide out drawers, no locks and they stay in very well, I've gotten some really good use from them, 1/4 on top, then 3/8 w/4 spark plug sockets, then 1/2" drive w/all 12-point sockets, bottom holds combo wrenches & I added 4 adjustable wrenches from Snap-on 4= $180.00 chrome 6-8-10-12" there awesome!! Also added thumb ratchets & extentions, I've changed motor's & Trannys as well, it's money well spent, lots of years of service, good set of toolz!! Thank you for your time kind Sir.

    I just bought this set to keep in my old farm truck. Still good tools and it’s sad they’re not made in America anymore. I tried to buy American before getting these but who can afford it. I know I can’t. The closest thing to this I saw American made was a Blackhawk set by proto and it was the same price for less than half of what is in this set. It’s sad.

    • @mbmcclure3579
      @mbmcclure3579 Před 5 lety

      Kevin Skaggs I think the metal in China came from here. Just a couple years back scrap went out of sight in price and it was because China was buying it and shipping it there. I saw whole dozers being hauled in for scrap that was really old machines . I even hauled some worn out hay balers and a few old truck bodies in myself.

    I just bought a tool set and I just couldn't go with Craftsman. All the Sears and Kmarts are almost all but gone in my area. I needed a store to buy them from that would last my lifetime for the lifetime replacement guarantee and I really believe Craftsman won't be around for much longer. Once they are gone their guarantee will be useless. Availability, price and a network of stores not going anywhere anytime soon I went with Husky from Home Depot.

    • @TractorMonkeywithJL
      @TractorMonkeywithJL  Před 6 lety +3

      You can't buy what you can't find. Sadly, my Sears store is closing soon also. I'm really not worried about warranty replacement though. If the odd piece breaks, I'll just replace that single piece with something from another store. A socket of another brand will still fit in the tray holder. In reality, the number of good tools I've broken in the last 40 years, (used properly) I could count on one hand.

    450pcs-187 bits-40 hex keys=223 useful pcs. I'm not criticizing and every company does it but they really shouldn't count those as part of the set. We buy those sets for the ratchets, wrenches and sockets. Not the bits and hex keys. I have the Craftsman 155 pc set and I like that it's almost all good stuff. Minimal bits and keys. I've noticed as their set numbers go up, so do the bit counts. It is what it is I guess.

    • @cavdejesus
      @cavdejesus Před 6 lety

      Trucker_Pete I actually use almost the every single bit in the kit. I hate that they count those, but they’re useful to me. Essential in certain jobs

    • @festushaggen2563
      @festushaggen2563 Před 6 lety

      cavdejesus There's no debating their usefulness. We all use them. It's just when we set out to buy a socket set and you see this high piece count, you get the impression that you're going to get a lot of the sockets and ratchets you're needing or wanting. Upon closer inspection you then find that 100+ of those pieces are bits and hex keys which you probably already have. It's kind of deceitful on their part and I don't appreciate it. Bits and keys can be found anywhere but when you buy a 200 piece socket set, you expect it to be full of sockets, not bits. I know they're useful but so is tape and scissors but they don't belong in a socket set.

    Hey sir great post. I do really like all my crastman tools even the overseas ones. My go to ratchet is the 1/4 inch #2072 I just like the feel in my hand and it's a low profile. I bought two of the 155 pc sets the second set was out the door 60. bucks what I don't understand is how many different ratchets they make yours are not the same as the ones I have and some of mine look the same at first glance I have a #44811 that looks just like #44808 till you hold them together one is 6" and a quarter on center the other is 7"and a quarter long on center of the drive, the #44808 I'm glad to have the bigger one it came in a socket bit set and they are different than the 155 pc ratchets, it looks like for sure they are different than the 450pc set
